Recommended: Careers in anthropology essay

As one of the recipients of the 2015 Educational Foundation Scholarship recipients, I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the opportunities this scholarship provided for me. I am grateful to receive this scholarship and reap the benefits that this scholarship provided for me and my family. Thanks to the scholarship I received from the Educational Foundation, I was able to spend a successful semester studying Biology and Anthropology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The scholarship helped lift a financial burden of my family because it helped pay for my tuition and housing. Having that financial security allowed me to have an accomplished and well-rounded first semester in college.
Due to this scholarship’s assistance, I have been able to devote time and energy to achieve academic excellence. For example, I was able to finish the semester with a 4.00 GPA in the University Honors Program, and I received the Dean’s List Presidential Honors Award. Additionally, I have also been active in my school and community by becoming a research assistant in a clinical research lab testing HIV patients and a peer educator for UAB’s Student Health and Wellness Center. I hope my college experience will embody service and education for others. This desire is what I want to carry with me as I pursue medical school.
