As one of the recipients of the 2015 Educational Foundation Scholarship recipients, I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the opportunities this scholarship provided for me. I am grateful to receive this scholarship and reap the benefits that this scholarship provided for me and my family. Thanks to the scholarship I received from the Educational Foundation, I was able to spend a successful semester studying Biology and Anthropology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Having that financial security allowed me to have an accomplished and well-rounded first semester in college.

In August when he was introduced with it, he went into septic shock and that day he had coded seven times. It is a miracle that he is with my family still, and with the support of this scholarship, it would help out a lot due to the medical bills that my family has. As in the past, I will work
I believe in the value of nurses, I believe I will one day be a nurse just like those I now admire, and I thank this scholarship for also believing in my potential as a future nurse.
I have desired to be in the medical field since my freshman year of school. Like a classic stereotype I wanted to go into the medical field after watching too much television, in particular Grey’s Anatomy. It was not the drama or love affairs that drew me into the profession but the adrenaline on a surgery coming in. The skills which they possessed to save a person’s life, and the relief of the family when the doctor was able to tell them that their loved one was going to be alright. Yes, I do aspire to go into surgery, specializing in either trauma or general. This goal is achievable, but it will take many years in college and medical school then residency. This scholarship, the Anderson Hospital Auxiliary

With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I cannot express in mere words how grateful I am for your donation through the Brian E. Gombar Memorial Scholarship towards my education, more importantly my hopes and dreams regarding my future. I am applying for this scholarship to help me pay for college. As everyone knows it is very expensive and sometimes hard to pay for all the things involved. My family is doing everything they can to help pay for my college. One of the biggest obstacles we have faced is applying for the FAFSA. My parents do make a lot of money, but they both have student loans they have to pay. My mom has two majors so she has a lot of money to pay back to school. While applying to FAFSA, these factors are not taken into consideration so we did not get as much money as we had hoped. If I am selected to win this scholarship, it would be greatly appreciated and would help me in many ways to continue my education.

I rose from nothing and now I’m able to humbly share my triumph over unlikely success and where my determination comes from. In this essay, you will hear the story of my life through all of the hardships that I over came to become the person I am today, as well as my plans for the future and why I am exceptional for a chance to win this scholarship. Throughout the last 19 years of my life, I’ve been through so much hardship. I’ve been a victim of brutal domestic violence most at the hands of my own father as I lived in poverty with my mother and brothers. From that, I’ve become mature, independent, and determined to reach excellence.
Additionally, I will be graduating Summa Cum Laude as I currently have a 4.18 GPA. I have also been recognized on the Dean’s List for fall 2016, spring 2017, and fall 2017, and I am a member of the Alpha Iota Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, and Golden Key Honor Societies. In January I was nominated for membership to the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society by the faculty of the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. In addition to my honor society memberships, I am the humble recipient of the William D. Kavan Political Science Scholarship ($575 – March, 2017), ASU Retirees Association Scholarship ($5,000 - April, 2017), and the American Indian Graduate Center Wells Fargo Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship ($5,000 – August, 2017). With this in mind, I owe a debt of gratitude for the incredible generosity of these donors, and I intend to become a donor for future ASU students upon graduating and settling into my teaching career.
