Greek philosopher and scientist Aristotle once said, “Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity.” This notion is absolutely correct, as I have my education to thank for bringing me through hardships and providing me with so many opportunities to grow professionally as well as morally. Education has always been there to pull me up, when I had nothing else working in my life. I’ve learned how to fight for what I want and not allow anything to get in the way of that. I rose from nothing and now I’m able to humbly share my triumph over unlikely success and where my determination comes from. In this essay, you will hear the story of my life through all of the hardships that I over came to become the person I am today, as well as my plans for the future and why I am exceptional for a chance to win this scholarship.
Throughout the last 19 years of my life, I’ve been through so much hardship. I’ve been a victim of brutal domestic violence most at the hands of my own father as I lived in poverty with my mother and brothers. From that, I’ve become mature, independent, and determined to reach excellence. It was my education that saved me, it persevered all of

After completing college and hopefully passing my CPA exam, I would like to work at a Hunt Oil Company or a company similar to it. After interning here for over a year, I have been able to experience meaningful relationships with employees at every level. They see my potential as they have hired twice and most importantly they give back to our community. I would like to still be a volunteer Crisis Counselor in my free time because I want to encourage and show people that their current circumstances are not forever and that recovery is possible if you work for it. I believe that I deserve this scholarship because I have demonstrated my persistence throughout high school and currently in
When I was little I saw the world around me differently. I get that everyone has a story and that they believe they are special because no one can tell their story. Well, I don’t feel special. I realized that we aren’t so different from each other after all. We all grow up believing that what we went through no one else did. However, the reason I don’t feel special is because I'm sure when you’re reading all these papers, trying to figure out who deserves this scholarship, your probably reading the same story with the same desperate tone. I'm not different from any of the other applicants, but by this essay I am. You’re not going to hear a desperate person asking for sympathy and that they deserve the scholarship because college is too expensive.
In the essay “Achievement of Desire”, author Richard Rodriguez, describes the story of our common experience such as growing up, leaving home, receiving an education, and joining the world. As a child, Rodriguez lived the life of an average teenager raised in the stereotypical student coming from a working class family. With the exception, Rodriguez was always top of his class, and he always spent time reading books or studying rather than spending time with his family or friends. This approach makes Rodriguez stand out as an exceptional student, but with time he becomes an outsider at home and in school. Rodriguez describes himself as a “scholarship boy” meaning that because of the scholarships and grants that he was receiving to attend school; there was much more of an expectation for him to acquire the best grades and the highest scores. Rodriguez suggests that the common college student struggles the way he did because when a student begins college, they forget “the life [they] enjoyed

I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
Education always has a different purpose for each generation. For example, in the Ancient Century people used to think that education was spiritual. However, in 1661 many people did not think that education was what they really needed, because at that time people who knew how to work physically rather than mentally got money. After some time, a society came to the conclusion that education is a power that can control and make people more disciplined. Nowadays people go to college just because they think that it is the way to get a good job and money to better live in a future. At this point, there is a great opportunity to be successful if you are well-educated. Another issue is how good education is
Getting this scholarship was my jump start to furthering my education and I knew from there that I was going to prove statistics wrong. I knew I was going to college and that things were going to be different for me and I was going to make a difference. I won’t be the black kid who drops out of school, because my education is too important to
My story began on a cool summer’s night twenty short years ago. From my earliest memory, I recall my father’s disdain for pursuing education. “Quit school and get a job” was his motto. My mother, in contrast, valued education, but she would never put pressure on anyone: a sixty-five was passing, and there was no motivation to do better. As a child, my uncle was my major role-model. He was a living example of how one could strive for greatness with a proper education and hard work. At this tender age of seven, I knew little about how I would achieve my goals, but I knew that education and hard work were going to be valuable. However, all of my youthful fantasies for broader horizons vanished like smoke when school began.
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” ― Malcolm X. (http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/education?page=2) Education, to me, was a passport that I had almost missed. Education was a plane that was ready to take off and leave me behind. This is my story of how much my education means to me.

Education is one of the most important tools that a society possesses. How much one gets from their education comes from how much effort they put into it. Unfortunately, nowadays kids growing up take the education they are being offered for granted. Some students now do not live up to their full potential because some just choose not to. They are just not as fascinated or eager to learn like students were back then. Not all people understand the inevitable role of education, some people
