I cannot express in mere words how grateful I am for your donation through the Brian E. Gombar Memorial Scholarship towards my education, more importantly my hopes and dreams regarding my future. As I enter my sophomore year of college at Pace, I realize that I have even more responsibilities to fulfill as a committed student and member of the Pace community. It is because of your tremendous kindness in offering me the Brian E. Gombar Memorial Scholarship that I am getting this opportunity and so much more. So I sincerely thank you. I am currently a biology major at Pace and I hope to go to medical school after finishing my undergrad. Ever since I was very young, I have held a fascination in the field of medicine. Although it started
My plan for after high school is to major in a science related to the medical field, most likely something that relates neuroscience with genetic studies, like neurobiology. I also hope to take the pre-medical classes required for me to enroll in medical school, which is my current goal for after undergraduate college.
Thank You scholarship selection committee for selecting me to be one of this years scholarship recipients. I am honored to have received this award that will help me along this new chapter of my life. The Hispanic Development Fund Scholarship will help me tremendously to help me pay for my fees at Park University. It helps my parents and I to worry less about paying for college. I plan to major in biology to later get in toxicology. I’m very passionate about the field that I want to pursue. Without the support that this organization gives to many students many of us wouldn’t be able to have the opportunity to go to college to accomplish our dreams. I will work very hard to not let this organization down, my family and myself down. Thank you

I grew up in a research and development campus where my father is a scientist. Research and curiosity were constantly encouraged and this prompted me to take up medicine as a career, a field that offers tremendous prospects for research and discoveries. Throughout medical school I tried to be involved in research and attempts at trying out new ideas, be it in the lab or working with human subjects. I carried this through my residency and now my fellowship. The idea of studying a topic or issue that has so far not been treaded upon seems to be extremely exciting and challenging.
I hope that you can see my education and future are advancing as we speak. This doesn’t mean I haven’t had a few bumps in the road, because I have. Actually, some of the bumps have unfortunately been financial aid. But, I am growing. It is a day to day continual experience of growth and it’s exciting for me to see where it takes me. Again, thank you for this opportunity and all the work you do as an organization.
I am excited about the prospect of attending medical school. My dream began when I was a child in a rural village in Bangladesh, continued through graduating from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) with a biology degree. Now, I am working in a research lab at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).I have had many experiences that have reinforced my desire to become a physician.
In regards to my academic and career goals, I plan to attend a four year university and eventually medical school. After medical school, I hope to become an orthopedic surgeon through residency and specialize in sports medicine. My interest in sports medicine has developed through experiences such as observing my father’s ACL surgery, having an operation on a broken hand, and caring for my grandfather who had prostate cancer. I hope to contribute to the world of sports medicine through research, either on treatments for knee ligament tears or supplement breakthroughs. Additionally, this past summer I spent most of my time at the University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy, where I was able to explore various science-related health professions through lectures and gain insight on the medical field. These experiences have secured my interest for healthcare and medicine.
Throughout the years as I've grown, I've noticed that I have a passion for children and a passion for their health. I believe I have the academic skills to be able to start my journey on becoming a pediatric nurse. In junior year of high school I took "Medical Office Technology" which was my favorite class I have ever taken in high school. It teached me medical terminology and informed me on types of medicine. This year as a senior I am taking "Child Development" and I am enjoying this course. This course teaches me about children and their development from the time they are born until they are 18 years old. I believe these two courses have taught me alot more about medicine and children. Other than academically I believe my personality traits would contribute to the medical school community. I am very patient and passionate with children. I am also a good listener and feel very comfortable around children as they are comfortable around me. My family and friends always say I have a gift with children. Their energy and happiness rubs off on me and makes me a better
I am writing to thank you for your generosity regarding the Kunzer Scholarship. I am extremely appreciative to be selected as the recipient. This gift will assist in easing the current emotional and financial burden that accompanies the investment of such an exemplary education.
I have known from an early age that I’ve wanted to become a doctor. Helping people has always been a passion of mine. When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. However, after working with young children I have found that I love working with them, and have a connection with children. Currently, I am interested in becoming either a neonatologist or a general pediatrician so I can continue to work with young children.
In the future, I wish to obtain an occupation in the medical field. I would like to start out by working for a Biology major and working in a premedical field in college where I can use my interest in medicine and my curiosity for knowledge to gain insight that would be needed to become a helpful doctor in the medical field. As I move along in my career, I would like to work my way through the pathway so that I can expand my skills in healing others, such as diagnostic abilities, effectively giving treatment and so on. I want to learn as much as possible so I can fulfill my ultimate dream of helping others that need answers to their medical problems and so that more people can live happily and healthily in the world. I hope to bring happiness to others and allowing people to live comfortably.
As a senior, the concept of attending college constantly remains on the forefront of my focus. Between keeping up with schoolwork, participating in an abundance of activities, and applying for countless scholarships, senior year has been physically and mentally challenging; however, I believe that the time I have put in will yield positive results. I hope to earn the Cox Scholarship based on my academic achievement and tremendous work ethic.
Computer courses are useful as technology is changing the way medicine is shared by physicians today. To head a career as a physician, a student needs to first enroll in a liberal arts program in undergraduate institution. Some colleges offer a premed major, but a general education with as many science and math course as possible and a major in biology or chemistry is good preparation for the study of medicine also. During sophomore or junior year in college, students should talk with an adviser about taking the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). While attending college, it is my ultimate goal to become a doctor, either a podiatrist, radiologist, or plastic surgeon. I intend to earn my undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, majoring in chemistry. Then, I plan to attend medical school at the University of Florida, as well. After completing a residency in my specialty, I would like to begin a medical practice somewhere in central Florida.
American philosopher John Dewey’s statement is mostly agreeable to me, when he stated ‘Education is a social process’ I couldn’t agree more, because learning is part of human nature, people learn things each day both consciously and unconsciously. The way our society works today is all about social interactions, learning about one another to establish social relationships.
