How the sport of Drag Racing Works Drag racing can be a dangerous sport if you don't know how things work. Drag racing has many things that go in to to it. The equipment used in drag racing. Like in the cars or dragsters, you need seat belts, that be 4-point to 6-point, helmets and neck restraints and for faster vehicles back brakes, amr restaurants, and fire suit in case the vehicle catches fire and you can't get you in time. “You must have paishoots if you go over 150 for safety to get slowed down in time to turn off in to the return lain”NHRA. In the sport of professional drag racing gravity takes on an entirely different meaning while accelerating these monsters down the track at speeds in excess of 330 miles per hour. The force exerted on the driver is known as G force. In this short journey down the track, the formula to calculate the forces exerted on the driver will be demonstrated. Next the forces exerted on the driver in the individual classes of cars. Then at the end of the quarter mile G force rears its ugly head again when the parachute is deployed to bring the monsters from their maximum speeds to a stop. In the end does this have an effect on the human body?
Nascar…. When you think of moonshine you think of the hillbillies in overalls fireing up grand daddys still in the b ack forty. It may come to a shock to you when you learn that nascars the billion dollor enterprise with 100,000 cars that are engineered to be as fast as they can be. Its hard to belive it all started from shine runners. During the great depression millions of gallons of shine were in need of distribution. This is where the ridge runners came into play. The shiners needed a way to get there shine from the stills to the stash houses…. The cops at the time had stock cars and if you could out run them then you wre free. You can only get in trouble if you are caught in the act….. the backwoods shiners started to build cars that would out run the cops. This was the beginning of nascar…..
Training a barrel horse can be lessons because the fastest racers want to be a champion. Training a barrel horse is a timed event where some of the fastest time is what matters the most. (‘Rodeo.about.com”). Speed is what it is all in the training. The riders enters the arena at full speed, quickly rounding each barrel in a clover leaf pattern and then exiting where they entered. The green flag drops on the first race in The National Dirt Racing Association(NDRA). It doesn’t matter where people go, on some little road in a small town, people will find a small dirt track. The speedways are mostly always located in city areas where a large amount of people live. After a weekend of racing the teams head to the shop to fix the car up again. Despite the fact, that racing had been around since before 1978; whenever Mr. Robert Smawley introduced NDRA, and later Mr. Bill France introduced NASCAR, more people paid attention to the sport of racing.
The first area that is important to understand when entering demo derby is the general rules. Rules for the participants have to be followed in order to participate in the demo. These rules help to keep the playing field even. These rules can change depending on the promoter that is in charge. The promoter has the full authority to allow participants to race or to tell them that their vehicle is too over built. The participant then must put it back on the trailer and cannot participate in the derby. An example of these rules entering the right vehicle into the right class. A typical night at the derby would have five different derby classes a night. The class are determined by wheel base. A truck cannot be entered in a derby classification against a van because a truck has better motor, stronger body frame and would completely destroy the van. In an impact like this, the driver of the van could possibly be hurt.
People who have participated in racing for the past century, have never been universally accepted as athletes. The drivers, especially those in the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) prove this misconception as incorrect with their intense training and stellar performances. Drivers on social media, assert that they are athletes, contradicting other sports stars who insist that they are not. The drivers in NASCAR and all forms of racing deserve to be given the respect of their fellow athletes in other sports. NASCAR drivers are seasoned athletes because of their training and tough race conditions that they encounter every week on the track.
“Short track racing is always been a way of life and not just a hobby” Bryan Clauson. There's always been people into dirt racing as it is personally my favorite form of racing. This sport isn't all to safe as there has been a massive tragedy in 2016 of Bryan Clauson as he died at the Belleville Midget Nationals. This tragedy sent a shockwave through all sports from dirt to asphalt racing. There is a commitment when you strap into that racecar and that is there's no guarantee that your going to get out so there's always been losses and historical moments in dirt racing. There isn't always tragedies there's famous moments like the 2016 Dream at eldora when a 19 year old kid Bobby Pierce Jr. won the world's most famous dirt race. 2017 will bring new stars like Rico Abreu which has already committed to dirt from nascar and has already won 2 golden drillers from the world's most prestigious midget race, chili bowl nationals in Tulsa Oklahoma .
Some say this can’t be in the Olympics because it's way too dangerous. But what about bobsledding and boxing. Reto Capedrutt died in a bobsledding accident along with 6 others. Carlos Barreto died from boxing injuries along with 9 others. The Olympics have had over 59 deaths from establishment. In total, NASCAR has had only 19 deaths from when it was
Driving defensively is key to avoiding accidents. This refers to anticipating hazards and being prepared for them, or driving and expecting the worst. When I was practicing my driving, my dad told me, “When you feel like another driver is going to make a bad move, assume that they will.” Just because it’s wrong for that other driver to cut you off doesn’t mean they won’t do it, so always plan for the worst of things. The main takeaways of defensive driving are:
On the first Saturday in May, Louisville, Kentucky hosts one of the most traditional events in history. Dating back to 1875, the Kentucky Derby brings in about 170,000 people a year. This past year, I had the privilege of being one of those 170,000 people at the 142nd Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.
Drivers who speed often do not realize the enormous danger they are creating. When someone is speeding they have a higher braking time and are often going too fast to notice all of their surroundings, and fail to take all of the safety precautions a driver should use. Road conditions play a large role in the effects of speeding. Choosing to speed can also get a person’s license taken away, cost a fortune, or both.
Although drag requires an excessive amount of work, in the end it is well worth it. Drag is very much like theater. It is an art in its own and represents much more than just men and women cross-dressing. Drag is empowering and exciting.
Formula One Racing Formula One racing, or F1, is known to be the most prestigious type of auto racing in the world. Unfortunately, in the United States F1 racing is not nearly as popular as other motorsports such as Nascar. On a typical Sunday afternoon if one were to flip channels on the television, Nascar would most likely be airing on a major station. Furthermore, if one were to watch the race he
Reckless driving is extremely dangerous and is considered to be anyone who is driving with carelessness and/or who has no regard for the safety of others on the road. Reckless driving is considered to be a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is a criminal act that is less severe then receiving a felony. Your punishments are also not as severe as penalties. Penalties for reckless driving include fines of up to $1,000, jail time, getting your parole revoked, two points on your driving record, insurance rates to go up, insurance can be cancelled and/or license suspension. Reckless driving includes speeding, not using signals, not using your headlights, disregarding traffic signs and signals, distracted driving, drag racing, and using a cell/smartphone while driving. In some cases a DUI can be deemed a “dry reckless”, which means the person was driving with disregard for others on the road. This charge is less serious then a DUI charge. If you have been pulled over for DUI and believe that it could be reduced to a “dry reckless” you should contact an attorney right away. Drag racing or a speed co...
