People who have participated in racing for the past century, have never been universally accepted as athletes. The drivers, especially those in the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) prove this misconception as incorrect with their intense training and stellar performances. Drivers on social media, assert that they are athletes, contradicting other sports stars who insist that they are not. The drivers in NASCAR and all forms of racing deserve to be given the respect of their fellow athletes in other sports. NASCAR drivers are seasoned athletes because of their training and tough race conditions that they encounter every week on the track. A NASCAR drivers’ training regimen throughout the season and during the off-season shows strong evidence that they are athletes. Nutrition is a key ingredient in the success of athletes in other sports, so NASCAR drivers and their crews practice healthy eating choices. On race day, nutrition is especially important for the crews. They eat no greasy foods for breakfast and load up on carbs for lunch so they can last the entire day at the track (Herlocker). Their diet proves that nutrition is key for the success of not only the drivers but for their crews as well. Though food choices may be important for increased driver success, cardio and stamina training is equally as important to last entire races. Drivers, training during the race season and off-season proves vital to their success on track. NASCAR driver Jamie McMurray uses several types of training equipment, combining ellipticals, rowing machines, and exercise bikes to keep in optimum conditions (Risher). Other drivers in other forms of motor sports use similar workouts. Indycar drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay and Duncan ... ... middle of paper ... ...w fitness remains a top priority." ESPN. 6 June 2013. Cody Higginbotham is an extreme race fan from Guntersville, Alabama. Cody has received many great opportunities over the last ten years. He got his first big break working on a message board (forum) for Jamie Mosley in 2003. “Jamie was driving a part time schedule in the #39 for Jay Robinson. He offered me an opportunity to work on a message board for him. I was only 12 years old at the time. I will admit that I was pretty nervous, but I was also excited about the great opportunity I received.” Cody received a second great opportunity to work with Venturini Motorsports in 2004. “Venturini Motorsports marketing/ PR Tom Venturini noticed me when Billy Venturini was still driving. He offered me an amazing opportunity to work on a message board (forum) for them at the end of 2004 until 2007.” Cody also worked on a message board (forum) for Brad Keselowski in 2005 - 2009, David Gilliland in 2006-2007, Burney Lamar in 2009, and JD Motorsports in 2008 - 2012. Cody received more amazing opportunities before and after he was finished working on message boards for race teams.
The character of Speedway as a place is temporal and spatial; the street of Friday midnight is radically different from the street of Tuesday morning. Daytime drivers quickly change lanes in an attempt to find the one which will deliver them to their destinations the fastest. Speed and efficacy define the daytime Speedway. As the type of driver changes, so does the driver's reason for being there. The weekday commute is replaced by the weeknight cruise. The drivers also become, as a group, less diverse in terms of age and gender. The majority of cruisers appeared to be teenagers. Also, though I saw many young women, the majority of cruisers were male.
Our eating habits are start when we are young. Many of the factors lead into the onset of poor eating habits are sports, busy parents, after school activities, or a job. In an article called “Big Men on CAMPUS,” it talks about the amount of food some football players are encouraged to eat. The main point this article raises is for those who don’t make it or those who do make it but don’t play in the big leagues

NASCAR is extremely competitive. For one, you have to qualify for each race. Qualifying is where you have to get the fastest time to start in a position (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.). Whoever has the fastest time will get to start in first. Whoever gets the slowest time starts in 43rd. This makes it competitive because you have to compete and push the car so that you can get the fastest time and start in first. Or there is the “Chase.” The Chase is made up of the NASCAR leaders. It helps determine who goes to the championship. The top 3 right now are Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, and Jimmie Johnson. The
In closing is a photo of my personal experience with the sport of Motocross. One should never doubt that motocross is a sport. When Jack Roush decides to have one less race team on the track, he does so not because he doesn’t like the team that is racing, but because fielding a race team is expensive. Mr. Roush has a lot of money, but he is limited to the number of teams he can put on the track. Race fans make choices too. We choose which drivers we will support, which manufacturers we will back, what races to attend in person, and how many races to watch on television. All of these choices are made because we don’t have the time, money or opportunity to watch every race, travel to every track, or back every driver. Therefore, we have to choose.
One of the most famous drivers was a man by the name of Junior Johnson. He was a shiner who had been caught and had spent a year in prison. He got out of prison and went back into the fast money life style of running shine. In his prime he was considered the fastest man on the ridge. He later made his way to NASCAR in 1955 and went on to win over 50 races. He then retired in 1966. Mike Devlin September 30, 2013
Such as his being in the People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People”(“Dale Earnhardt, Jr.”). He is also known for having two commercials in the 2004 Super Bowl. He is the only other person to do this since Muhammad Ali.(Fleischman 7). Also, Dale’s father and brother are the only father and two son in history to start in a Cup race since Lee, Richard, and Maurice Petty in 1960(Fleischman 8). He also helped many kids by teaching them how to drive a NASCAR car, saying this quote, “I learn as much from them as they do from me,”(Fleischman 14). Even though he Dale felt more comfortable in his role in racing and as a celebrity in the begining of the 2005 season, he still thought of himself as still a shy guy(Fleischman
Automobile racing is often thought to be a rather unsafe sport, but it actually happens to be the safest sport on four wheels. Yes, there are wrecks that happen at very high speeds in automobile racing, but that does not mean that it is an unsafe sport to be a part of. There are many safety advancements such as a HANS device and catch fences, and many more. The people that run these different styles and sanctions of automobile racing are always working there hardest to improve the safety of the fans and drivers on the track. People tend to think it is unsafe because of the high-speed crashes and the injuries that people suffer during these crashes.
Whether it is on a track, a pitch, court or rink, nutrition is of vital importance in the development of a healthy, competitive athlete. Athletes must depend on highly nutritious and vitamin rich to keep their body at their healthiest, their mind focused to maximize their performance.

As NASCAR becomes more involved in sustainability initiatives, NASCAR needs to promote their initiatives in a way that gives NASCAR a differential advantage with their target audience (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). One common way a marketer can demonstrate social responsibility is through programs designed to preserve and protect the natural environment (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). While maintaining the natural environment, sustainability allows the organization to improve the business strategies, economic sectors, work practices, technologies, and lifestyles (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Many organizations make contributions to sustainability by adopting eco-friendly business practices or supporting environmental initiatives (Ferrell & Hartline,
Certain foods can make a difference in sports competition. Conditioning, strength, and speed have been the focal points of athletic training for years; however, the research on nutritional elements indicates their importance to an athlete's optimal performance. Knowing the proper food to eat before, during, and after a physical activity can help an athlete in achieving their desired performance.
However, when a celebrity drive harshly, it becomes the national news for media personnel, but have you ever thought of the normal people, who became the victims of accidents, due to harsh driving.
