(Neck,124-127) As I was reading this stories I kept thinking they were a little extreme but in some aspects I could see my self in different situations Tom and Jeniffer were in.
I can see a lot better how strategies and a plan can help me and the people around me to bring the best in them and me as well. I think if I had been in Tom’s position, I would begin with a plan and tackle the small problems first. For example, I would have a meeting with the department and apologize for the lack of good leadership they have been experiencing and make the meeting a weekly event for a period of time. As I develop a better relationship with the rest of the department I would start assigning some responsibilities to people and taking the time to explain what is expected. I would make a better plan of my time during the day and like Jennifer have a specific time when members can walk in my office. Even though the situation Tom is in is difficult, I think, with a lot of hard work a better environment can be developed in his work space. Finally, I would make sure my family new that I been very stressed at work but I am doing changes to make the home life more
enjoable.
The movie opened with Tom complaining that he was having trouble making ends meet. His suburbanite friend suggested he apply for a position at UBC. On two occasions at UBC, Tom revealed his lack of conformity. At his interview, the human resources director asked him to write an autobiography and an explanation of his value to UBC. Tom declined to write any revealing information in the in his application. After UBC hired Tom, middle management asked Tom to write a speech for Ralph Hopkins (Frederic March). Middle management wouldn't give Tom's real speech to the president. In turn, Tom bypassed the middle managers and gave his speech to Hopkins. If Tom was the staunch organization man, he wouldn't question the authority of his superiors at UBC.
Johnson’s weaknesses are that she sometime moves too fast that her colleagues cannot catch her up, and sometimes pushes too hard and little impatient. She also “piled too much on her own plate”, which indicate Johnson put a lot of attention on insignificant issues, causing lack of involvement on other important activates. Additionally, she is still young and lack of experiences of working, which might affe...
Leadership at times can be a complex topic to delve into and may appear to be a simple and graspable concept for a certain few. Leadership skills are not simply acquired through position, seniority, pay scale, or the amount of titles an individual holds but is a characteristic acquired or is an innate trait for the fortunate few who possess it. Leadership can be misconstrued with management; a manager “manages” the daily operations of a company’s work while a leader envisions, influences, and empowers the individuals around them.
With that interview, I have learnt a lot of leadership styles and motivational theories, which I studied in my University lectures from Mr. John. This paper is the reflection of what I learnt from him.
Like Colin Powell, I quickly adapted to the new responsibilities and my vision was to make sure no more innocent lives were lost. I utilized individualized consideration by holding meetings to allow each individual to voice their concerns about what had gone wrong and what we could do to get the office back on the right track. I wanted to open those lines of communication so they would feel free come to me about anything. I listened to their concerns and empathized with this. I let them know that I valued them, their input, and even implemented some of their ideas.

By my courageous nature, I can give hope to my followers in any case and give them aspirations in wait for a better future. Tough times can also be faced with much resilience (Rath & Conchie, 2008). I can direct people towards achieving goals for the organization as well as personal goals. By providing stability team cohesion is improved towards the generation of better results. By this, I can influence the employees towards having a strategic mindset and focusing on the work as well as creating a peaceful work

After seven years in college, Tommy Callahan, who isn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, finally graduates with a BA. He moves back to Ohio, where his dad owns an Auto Parts company. Despite his ineptitude, because his father owns the company, Tommy gets shot straight to the top of his father’s company. Not long after returning home, Tommy finds out his father is getting remarried. The excitement of having a new family is cut short when Tommy’s father dies of a stroke on his wedding day. Though the death of his Dad is troubling, there is little time to mourn. The family Auto Parts company relied heavily on the salesmanship of Tommy’s father, and without his drive and guidance, the company is in danger of getting bought out by a bigger corporation. With no experience to back him, and an academic past that does more to damage his credibility that establish it, Tommy volunteers to fill his father shoes, “ I know I’m probably not the answer you guys are looking for but I feel like I oughta do something.” (Tommy Boy). The board has little confidence in Tommy, but they don’t have a better alternative, so Tommy sets out with the best of intentions, to save his fathers legacy, and the livelihood of his home town. Eventually Tommy succeeds in saving the business, exposing corruption in the process.
A particular approach to the idea of leadership style is provided by ROBERT R. Blake and JANE S. Mouton. Blake and mouton managerial grid will be showed in the figure below reflect a theme that is common in many approach to leadership. That theme is that effective leadership requires attention to both task and people. We saw the theme in the Ohio state leader behavior dimensions of initiating structure and considerations. Likert also develops this theme in his theme research when he discusses job centered and employees centered supervision.
I would also warn him that not everyone on staff will be happy for him, but not to take it personally. I would tell him to be empathic but not to get drawn into a conversation about their hurt feelings. I’d tell him to instead, discuss with them their individual goals as well as the goals of the department. I would advise him to include the staff in the decision making process whenever appropriate, but always maintain a professional relationship with them. I would tell him to treat everyone with respect and expect them to do the same. I would also tell him that I would be available anytime he needed my input.

Sharing leadership and collaboration has transformed the role. This was obvious when collaborating with the math interventionist. I was not able to visualize a schedule that could support a few kindergarten students needs in both reading and math, but by working with the math interventionist she was able to come up with a schedule that works. Effective collaboration will help me be more successful as a administrator.
After meeting with the president and listening to the issues and concerns regarding, Jack I would highly recommend for a personal improvement plan (PIP) to be developed. I would suggest for the president to have a one-on-one meeting with Jack regarding the negative feedback he has received from the staff. Jack should be fully aware of the expectations that are being sought as a result of this improvement plan. When laying out the areas of improvement, the first concern would be the negative attitude he has toward his staff. Next, would be to address the several complaints on company surveys from his department as well as outside of his department. These situations take time so I would recommend a 90-day plan with a follow up with the employees immediately after the plan has exhausted. The purpose of the PIP would be to improve employee morale, create a healthier work environment, and assure that the employees are receiving adequate support and resources needed to perform productively. Jack would also be informed of the consequences he could face if he is not compliant and open to this PIP. I would suggest for an outside,
Leadership is a paramount element within our lives both as individuals and a society. The way in which visions, goals and objectives are delivered and interpreted is a crucial element in determining the over all success(Dalglish & Miller 2010, pp. 2-10). Therefore, over the years there has been an elevation away from the typical leadership styles and progressing towards numerous avenues to undertake to achieve objectives in a more effect and effective way depending on the present factors of the situation, personality styles, and behaviors(Johnstone & Manica 2011). As an example of this, this essay will be focusing on Noel Pearson to demonstrate how his leadership style and approach has been beneficial for him in both in his leadership roles
