Stress in the workplace

Stress in the workplace has become one of the increasingly popular topics of discussion over the last couple of decades. It has become a major concern among various organizations creating an impact on the management and operations of the organization. This paper will give a detailed definition of what stress in the workplace is and the most common causes of stress amongst both employers and employees. In the midst of investigating the causes of stress, I will give an outline of what can be done to manage the stress by not only the individual but also by the employers themselves.

I will also mention the effects of stress to an individual, which can be categorized as short-term effects both psychological and physiological or long-term effects both psychological and physiological. In relation to both employers and employees, I will outline the warning signs of excessive stress. To make a detailed work for this research paper, I will use the internet, interviews, and personal experiences to gather information.

Introduction

Stress has been a very complex phenomenon that has been a wear and tear of everyday life. It is defined as the psychological response to the perception of demands and pressure from inside and outside the workplace. In addition, workplace stress is a harmful physical and emotional response that occurs when the demands of the job do not match the resources, capabilities or needs of the worker. This can lead to poor health and even injury among the employees and employers. By having good time management, it will help the individual with organization of the workload and being in a position to handle additional projects as they arise. Other stress management techniques such as muscle relaxation and coping techniques can be used to treat the symptoms of workplace stress.

Conclusion

Reducing stress in the workplace can result in a better work environment, which will promote mutual efforts within the organization producing a higher quality of work performance.
