Do you have a hero? I have a hero but my definition of a hero might be different for what you are thinking because my definition of a hero is hard working, caring, and strong. I picked this person because he is an inspiration to me. He is 16 years old. Born in 1999 on April, 24. He lives in Brown City, Michigan. He is strong because he has played lots of sports all of his life. The sports that probably gave him the most muscle is football and wrestling. On his football team, he is one of the best. The term “Hero” has been in our civilization for centuries. On the surface, a hero is a person of honor, integrity, and the will to fight for what he or she believes in. Nearly every story that is told is centered around a character who in one way or another is a hero. They are a person whom the common people are supposed to strive to be; but does this icon truly exist?
A hero is someone you look up to, someone who has done something to inspire you, someone who is your role model. In our society, there are many different types of heroes—family, friends, teachers, firefighters, and police officers to name a few. But a hero that stands out to me is a U.S. soldier. A person who overcomes antagonistic and unnecessary issues in a mature and powering manor. That is the definition of a hero to me. Someone who is being hurt and sees others hurt from the actions and takes charge and does everything in his power to change it. Someone who puts others before themselves and acts in the most chivalrous way. The definition of a hero is different for everyone. Some one might think of a hero as someone who can lift a car and put it on their back, or gives a dying person their kidney. Yes all of those people are forms of hero’s. In my opinion, a hero is someone whose principal purpose, whether it be in one situation or over the span of their entire life, is to help others while simultaneously making the world a better place. When the word hero is brought up, the most prevailing image that comes to mind is superheroes like Batman and Superman. But I don’t think you have to have superpowers or even be well known in order to be a hero. When I think of a hero many fine qualities come to mind; intelligence, courage, altruism, compassion and great bravery.

When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of a hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
Most people when thinking of a hero they view it as someone from the military who has horrific stories to tell. Someone famous who walks down the red carpet and signs autographs, or someone that changed the world. But from my point of view my hero is my sister, Brooke Simonis because she has changed my world in more ways than you can believe. Brooke is my hero because she my second favorite women in this world, she is very respected, and she is always trying to bring me up.

Heroes have embodied the morality codes of civilizations throughout the ages. When heroes display courage, observers often identify with that courage. The refusal to take the easy way out and the ability to act in spite of fear, is what makes a person a hero. This is the way everyone wishes to react in the midst of a crisis. As witnessed in literature and real life, mankind needs heroes to provide an inspirational role model, an escape from the mundane, and a guide for morality.
