Since the beginning of time, people around the world have helped the human race throughout many rough moments and we considered these people as heroes. We all need or have received help weather we admit it or not and there are people willing to help us or act as a hero in our lives such as teachers, parents, and government. As a child I saw heroes to be people with supernatural abilities, but as I grew up, I found out that a hero is a person who has impacted your life from a troubling moment. I personally have received help from a man I never expected to have grown a bond with and I consider him as a hero to me. This person I call hero is Kerry Mondestin and he shows the nine characteristics of a hero.
Courageous, Moral, and Good are the first 3 characteristics of a hero. I believe that

I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a mission trip with Kerry and this trip was expensive but even with the expenses, I found it so heroic how he continued to give to the less fortunate what he had. One thing I also noticed is how he shares his knowledge with others so that they may better themselves and stay away from the path that he himself had stumbled in. One characteristic that I love is the way he brings out the truth in such a devious way and that always helps me realize how cunning Kerry really is to me. In my book he has knocked last 3 characteristic and passed with flying colors in my book.
Heroes are all around you and can be anyone you know. They don’t require any supernatural ability all they need is to have an impact on your life. We have received help weather we admit it or not and there are people willing to act as a hero in our lives such as teachers, parents, government. My hero was Kerry Mondestin and to me he is a mentor, father figure, and close friend who holds the nine characteristics of a hero. As I grow up I hope to become a hero similar to mine and later create more heroes
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
One defining characteristic of every hero is that she thinks of others before herself. Many people, when called upon to name the heroes in their lives, will mention a parent or teacher who clearly put the needs of her children, above their own. When someone acts proves he cares more about those around him than he does even about his own life, he is considered a hero. Johnny Appleseed sacrificed many things in order to help other, the same applies to us.
Dictionaries’ definitions of the word hero are exceedingly vague. A standard dictionary limits the definition of a hero to, “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities” (Dictionary.com). Heroes are people, not just men, who are generous, courageous, and take every event as part of the whole stream of life rather than as a critical moment. Humanity, endurance, and perseverance are other critical characteristics of a deserving candidate for such a title.
Most of the heroes today encompass at least these three qualities. Many movie characters will have one or two of these characteristics but may not have all three. If the character does have the three, they are usually not simultaneous. These qualities are hard to embrace in the world today. Anyone that can integrate compassion, courage, and loyalty in one personality is a true hero.
In order for a person to be considered a hero they must have a certain quality. The quality that a hero should have is bravery. All heroes should be brave because if they go into a dangerous situation, they need to be able to stand strong under the fear. “ He thought you were only brave if you knew something was dangerous and scary and you carried on regardless(Mount)”.
Over the course of history the definition of what makes a hero has made many changes. Beowulf, Superman, and firefighters are all examples of heroes, but they are very different when broken down. Today’s society defines a hero by his values, his strength, and his journey.
Who is your hero? If that question was asked to a group of people, some might think of loved ones or family, and some may talk about doctors, firemen, or even a teacher. However, most would probably say their hero was some celebrity or star athlete. While some celebrities and athletes can justifiably be labeled "heroes", there are some people who may appear to be heroic, but lead a completely different life off the field.
Throughout the years, being a hero and the ideals of heroism have been subject to many changes. Many cultures differ on their views of what it takes to be a “hero.” Such as how The Odyssey by Homer, The Ramayana, and the present day have a view on heroes. Today we look up to our men in uniform and ordinary lay people, but as children we would marvel at the abilities of the “knights in shining armor” and idolize them as our heroes. With all these different beliefs it all brings us back to one question, what makes someone a hero? Meriam Webster…defines a hero “as a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities”.
Over the course of time, there have been many distinct heroes with significant characteristics. A hero can be viewed and described many different ways depending on the person. They may be courageous, intelligent, kind, tough, or even troublesome. However, the more common ‘hero’ is revered to be physically brave and intellectually smart. Although one may be intellectually smart, that is not truthfully what makes them a hero. A hero is someone who sacrifices themselves for the benefit of others and is courageous and brave.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a hero is an individual who is admired for great bravery or fine qualities. To me a hero is so much more than a person who shows great bravery. When I think of a hero many fine qualities come to mind; intelligence, courage, altruism, compassion and great bravery.
Some definitions of heroes are people, who have noble qualities, and put the lives of others before their own life. They are expected to be reasonable and calm, during scary times, like when a shooting is going on, looking out for
Those characteristic traits are what I think makes a hero. We come in contact with heroes everyday. We may not know they’re heroes but whether we know or not doesn’t matter as long as the person they protected believes they are a hero. Just like the people serving our country...heroes, they are pure, true heroes. They have the courage to serve, they have the integrity to serve for America’s morals, they have the fidelity to keep their promises made to this country, and they have the determination to stand and fight for the United States of America. To me those qualities make a
There are many qualities that people think a hero should have. To name a few of those qualities there is; courage, determination, focus, compassion, dedication, honesty, loyalty, responsibility, and wisdom. (http://www.personalitytutor.com/qualities-of-a-hero.html). Most people believe these are very important qualities to have, probably because they themselves wish they had more of those traits. Most people believe that these traits are not just traits of “superheroes”; they are also the traits of everyday heroes, or real heroes-not super heroes- throughout history.
When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of a hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
Everyone in this earth has a hero. People have heroes because they really admire that specific person and they really look up to that person. They really want to do what they have done and they have achieved in their lives. Likewise, I also have a hero. My hero is Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
