My Hero: Brooke Williamson Scallion

The definition of a hero is typically a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Heroes walk among us every day and we just pass by them without a second thought. A hero can be found in a hospital, a kitchen, in a field or in the classroom. My hero could be found in one of three places usually either her kitchen, in a Delta State classroom, or in the emergency room of Parchman Penitentiary. My hero is an affectionate, strong, and dedicated woman named Brooke Williamson Scallion. Brooke is one of my older sisters, with thirteen years separating us, she sometimes forgets her role is as my sister and assumes a motherly role. She is thirty years old and is the mother of three children; ages ten, seven, and four. …show more content…

She has been my role model since I was able to walk. When you look through her memory box some things you might find would be her Salutatorian sash, her senior cheer uniform with the captain patch sewn on the chest, and her countless track, softball, and basketball trophies. Although she achieved highly in high school, that is not the only reason I would call her my hero. After graduating top of her class, Brooke went on to Mississippi Delta Community College, where she continued her perfect grade point average. Naturally, She was awarded an academic scholarship, which to this day continues to pay all of her schooling. She graduated from MDCC as a registered nurse, and settled down with her high school sweetheart to start her career and her family. Now, years have past since she became a nurse. Brooke decided last year she wanted to be more and teach her children to never stop chasing their goals. She enrolled in the Delta State nurse practitioner program. She attends lectures and seminars and also does some of her course work online. Brooke's graduation will be in the fall of
