Petty (2009) Teaching Today: A Practical Guide, Fourth Edition contextualized the significance of good teachers in real life: Good teachers touch people’s lives for ever. If you teach well, some of your students will only succeed because of your excellent teaching. They then might go on to get more advanced qualifications and skills, again just because of your expert teaching. Then they might get a career, indeed a whole life, built on your excellent teaching. No other profession is that consequential and enagling.

She says “We turn from looking at a student’s “labels” to searching for that student’s interests and needs. We shift from focusing on the student’s deficits—what he or she cannot do— to looking at the student’s strengths. We move away from the question “How do I remediate this student?” and toward “What do I do to ensure that this student works at the highest level of thought and production?”
Figure 1.1 represents student analysis instrument that can help teachers with compiling learning profiles for their students. To collect student data profesors should form certain questions about each student as a learner. William Powell and Ochan Kusuma-Powell in their book How to teach now formed a series of questions that professors might ask themselves as they develop learning profiles for each student. The questions were categorized into the five following dimensions:
1. Biological traits
– In what ways might the student’s gender be influencing learning in the classroom?
– Is there anything in the student’s medical records that indicates a condition that might impact classroom learning?
– Does the student have a learning disability?
– Has the student been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD?

As I read these articles, I agreed with almost everything that was said. The Great Teacher Question: Beyond Competencies, by Edward R. Ducharme begins with a sentence that basically sums up my reason for teaching, “I begin this essay by defining a great teacher as one who influences others in positive ways so that their lives are forever altered” (Ducharme, 1991 p. 2). Using Allison’s strengths and interests is important to helping her become a successful student. This is the method of helping Bender, Brian and any other student become successful in school. Building on the student strengths, while allowing them to work on their weaknesses is important for all students and especially for twice-exceptional students in the classroom. When looking at the student’s weakness it is important to understand that their behavior is not a weakness, but a result of an underlying cause. Examining the cause of the behavior will help recognize the challenge areas for improvement by understanding the underlying cause for the behavior. After understanding the student’s strengths and challenges, the teachers can then fully help the student learn to the best of their abilities.
In conclusion, the learner’s profile is a good indication of identifying any individual needs prior to the commencement of a program. I will help inform you to plan your teaching to meet the learning needs of the learner in a diverse ways. However ongoing individual assessment will provide a good route to progression. Not only that but can also highlight potential barriers to learning and the necessary steps to resolved them. One tool Ms. Ladsten created is high-low-high, where students are writing information down and turning it in to the teacher. The first question is about the content they are learning. The low is what the student is still struggling with or what they need more work on. The last high is something that is going well in their life. Using high-low-high checks students’ knowledge about the main objective that is being covered.
I believe that teaching and learning is both a science and an art, which requires the implementation of already determined rules. I see learning as the result of internal forces within the person student. I know that children differ in the way they learn and grow but I also know that all children can learn. Students’ increased understanding of their own experience is a legitimate form of knowledge. I will present my students with opportunities to develop the ability to meet personal knowledge.
In a society where kids must go to school up to the collegiate level, teaching is an impactful career choice. Teachers help contour the minds of future leaders of the world. Furthermore, teachers play a crucial role in guiding students to the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to succeed in life, and teachers lead students to make informed decisions on any topic the meet in the future. As a teacher, a person must relinquish their knowledge onto students. Finally, they must prepare their students for all the obstacles they will face later in life.
Like many other students in the public school system, I had my share of “good” teachers and “bad” teachers, but I learned valuable things from each of them: from the “good” teachers, inspiration to enter education and how to be a good teacher, from the “bad” teachers, if nothing else, what not to be. As important as education is to children’s success in life, they should have as many positive influences as possible. I will strive to be the best teacher I can be, not only to be marked as one of the “good”, but one of the “great” teachers of education.
There is no more critical role in our current society than that of a teacher’s. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today's instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now, and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly however important teachers are in human civilization, they are still drastically understated, unrecognized and under paid.
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.
• The interviewee had numerous positive encounters with educators who were engaging, nurturing and supportive. It is unlikely a teacher who can give this kind of positive learning encounters holds the philosophy of their role being the distributor of knowledge to the pupils. This type of educating is regularly unengaging. The Interviewee's educator's aptitudes to treat their pupil's needs and wants independently did not go unnoticed and made the classroom environment warm, fun and welcoming.
Upon entering the field of education, I am faced with many questions. Will the students like me? Will I have a large class? Will I be a good teacher? A few of the questions that definitely need to be answered before I enter the classroom, are what methods should I use to teach? What aspects of which methods will work best for me? What philosophy best exemplifies the way I want to bestow the learning process to my students? In my quest to become an elementary teacher I shall use a variety of aspects from past philosophers of education. As long as each child is learning, I feel that I am fulfilling my goal, and a difference is being made, I am on my way to a successful classroom.
Unfortunately, some academics do not use professional practices to identify how students learn and teach students. Perhaps one of the most important aspect of teaching and learning is how well the teacher knows the learner. Many lecturers know how the students learnt/learn best, but do not necessarily consider to improve teaching. This is a vital factor which should be concerned during the preparation of the lessons.
Good teachers set high expectations and motivate the students to meet those expectations. As students strive for excellence, teachers assist students in meeting their highest potential through daily lessons. Teachers also serve as role models. Teachers make a contribution to society by preparing students for their real world endeavors. They teach students through example to be kind, respectful, humble, patient and determined.”
