As children interact with the child care professional several hours a day, parents always look for persons of good influence who can help in the development of their child’s emotional, intellectual and social aspect. Without the quality of being patience, childcare workers
I was originally going to complete my service learning project at Kitchen for the Poor, located at 650 Vance St in Toledo, Ohio. But in view of my capacity to volunteer because of my work hours, I had to pick an alternate administration to partake in. Instead, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Momee’s Daycare. Momee’s Daycare is owned and operated by Renee Bowen, and her location is at 756 Wenz Rd. in Toledo, Ohio. Her company has five employees, situated in the proprietor’s home.

...onomy. Day care can be a positive option for parents seeking help with child care. It is self-assuring for many parents that are struggling to raise a family while balancing job security, to know that there are a variety of options out there for the watching of children. As with any difficult task, the monitoring of child safety concerns should stay primarily as a parent’s number one responsibility and concern. Today there is government help and assistance by providing mandatory safety and ethics requirements that are enforced through safety-regulatory agencies and through inspections for compliance for the purpose of licensing approval. It is a welcome thought for parents to know that they may be doing their children a favor in using a day care, by helping their young ones become better prepared for kindergarten and giving them an opportunity to learn new skills.
Reporting party (RP) stated that her son has been at this daycare for 6 weeks and on 10/10/16, her 2 year old son Connell McFadden-Yagazie (DOB: 4/28/14) disclosed that teacher Denise (2 year old classroom) hit him across the face and that it hurt him really bad. RP stated that she did notice some swelling but attributed the swelling to teething. RP stated that the child is, "Super super smart and super verbal" and does not believe he would make this up. On 10/11/16, RP did not send the child to the daycare and went to the school to speak with the teacher about the incident. After meeting with staff regarding the incident, Denise denied the allegations and was very upset. It was reported that the child did fall on top of a toy and hit his face.
On September 22, 2014, I had my first visit to my service-learning site, Red Caboose. As I volunteered at this site through Badger Volunteers, I arrived with three other girls who were my team members. When we arrived the executive director buzzed us in and met us at the door. She gave us a tour of the building which ended in her office where she spent about an hour going over the volunteer information, rules and regulations.
Child care is a rewarding and yet demanding career. These demands come from an abundance of sources: consistent changes to rules and regulations, requests from parents, and the forever evolving needs of a child in your care. Not only should these demands help solidify you as a growing early childhood professional, there are also plenty of other demands that can significantly affect your career choice. These include educational levels, levels of hands-on training, personal interests, family obligations, values, abilities, and your individual professional priorities.
Every teacher has this potential whether they are aware of it or not. I have been a teacher for nine years in early childhood education and within those nine years I have become very aware of how powerful the smallest act of caring can turn a person’s life around or even just make someone’s day a little better. Being a preschool teacher has brought me great pleasure to my life simply brightening a child’s day and knowing that I am making a difference in their life. Through my journey as a teacher I have thought about how I can advance in my career field and still be active with children on a daily basis and continue making a difference in each child’s life as well as their parents. With plenty of thought and research I have come to the conclusion and gained the interest to become a preschool and childcare director.
Starting off the caregivers welcome the children into the child care center with enthusiasm. Immediately, the caregivers approach each child and encourage them to embrace the environment they just walked into. Children walk in every single day clinched to their parents very curious and apprehensive. They quickly observe the environment while their parents and caregivers try to ensure them that everything will be okay. This somewhat brings comfort to the children.
While most daycare centers try to stay open until the evening hours to accommodate parents who work during the day, it's not as easy to find a center that is open 24 hours a day. If you work various shifts, finding a babysitter can be challenging when you have to work overnight. Fortunately, there are some daycare centers that are open 24/7 so you can drop off your kids when you have to work nights or weekends. Here are a few advantages of this type of child care.
Teaching young children is becoming more complex and the demands placed on educators are increasing. By taking part in continuing education, and integrating current research and practices, educators and administrators will be better able to promote innovation and improvement in both managing, and teaching. Since early childcare educators are keenly aware of the needs of children and are able to see trends in early the child care and development system and their impact on children and families, they have a responsibility to engage in informed advocacy for children (Mevawalla & Hadley, 2012). By getting involved in the public policy-making process, they can help educate the public and build support for early childhood issues that will help improve the lives of children and families. Early childhood professionals have many important roles and responsibilities. “Teaching young children is serious work that requires high-quality, dedicated, professional teachers who see the importance of what they do and are eager to increase their effectiveness, knowledge, and skills” (Phajane, 2014, p.
Schwartz (1983) investigated how length of day-care attendance correlated to attachment behavior in eighteen-month-old infants. Schwartz’s study set out to determine the differences in attachment behavior of eighteen-month-old infants in relation to their length of day-care attendance or lack of attendance. This study specifically focuses on eighteen-month-old infants from middle-class families where all of the infants had been placed into full time day-care before the age of 9 months, part time day-care or if they attended no day-care at all.
It was January 2002. I was walking home from Newton Street School. I heard loud strikes of thunder, I saw the grayish black sky above me, and I felt my heart coming through my shirt. As we scampered home my mom looked down at me and said, “Baby you know that I love you no matter what, right?” I was just 5 years old so I was clueless to what exactly was going on. I nodded my head in uncertainty and told my mother I loved her more. Just as we arrived to my house located on Bedford Street, my mom began to cry. “Mommy what’s wrong? “ I asked. She just mourned the entire time. I followed my mother into the living room until I came across 2 large suitcases centered on the dining room floor with my favorite teddy bear sitting next to them. I began
I worked for a friend once, and I thought it was the best decision I had ever made. The job was going to be babysitting her kids as often as she needed. Not just one or two kids, but three children, of various ages. I was a little anxious because it was my first job after high school, but I was excited to get started. Without having any experience with kids, I thought to myself , “How simple it was going to be babysitting three kids” I was wrong. It was difficult, and I gave up so much of my time for this friend without getting much in return. Choosing to babysit a friends children caused so many problems. I would have never imagined my first job experience being so dreadful. Working for a friend was a discouraging experience, because I did not have
