A. Core Competencies
There are several core competencies found in our educational institution. I will touch on just three of these core competencies. The first competency is the integration of school wide essential vocabulary taught and applied in every classroom throughout the institution. These essential vocabulary terms are very important due to the fact that they are high frequent terms found on all benchmark assessments. The second core competency is implementation or integration of evidence based instructional practices utilized by all educators specifically the practice of explicit instruction with the I do/ we do/ they do/ and independent practice model. The positivity climate will create a positive and safe climate for all stakeholders specifically the students. Our students feel safe and secure enough to participate in class and engage in all course work because they know that our educational institutions main priority and focus is on their success. I have seen over the past couple of years several of our at risk students come out of their shells per say and want to participate in class discussions and complete their course work. This consultant company came in last school year and performed an overall school analysis. At the end of the school analysis the consultant company summarized their findings. They then presented their findings to the staff. Our institution then created a school transformation team which consists of four teachers, two administrators, and an instructional coach from Education Direction. Our school transformation team was given the assignment of identifying key areas that our school could focus on that would allow for the most overall school improvement. The transformation team based their decision off of the school analysis provided by educational direction which outlined in their summary several core competencies that were missing and we chose the three core competencies that would best meet the needs of our school improvement process and
