Feedback Areas of Development: Social Emotional Support:
Positive Climate: Today’s observation showed that there are very few indications that the teacher and students in this classroom enjoy a warm and supportive relationship with one another. Students and children in this classroom do not appear to be connected in any meaningful way. Teachers smiled rarely and did not show much verbal or physical affection toward the children. The children would oftentimes push and hit each other without being noticed by the teacher.

Teacher Sensitivity: The teacher consistently fail to be aware of children who need help. For example, a child had her hair pulled by another child two times before the teacher noticed it. The teacher is unresponsive and often ignore children who are crying. Teacher are not effectively addressing children’s issues and concerns. For example, the teacher was observed telling children multiple times to use their inside voice but children continues to be loud. The children rarely seek support from the teacher or share their ideas with the teacher.

Regard for Student’s Perspectives: The teacher is flexible in her lessons and activities and often follows the students lead. However, there were very few opportunities to promote autonomy and leadership. Children did not help out in this classroom. The teacher was observed encouraging children to talk, but the conversation was usually short. There were a few instances in which the teacher prompted the child to explain her perspective about clouds. This conversation was very reach. The teacher asked the child about different colors of cloud and what they mean, the teacher promoted the child to explain if clouds move. The teacher even introduced the child to a new word, “Cumulus Clouds”. However, these types of interactions are not typical in this …show more content…

The teacher is inconsistent in her use of a variety of modality and materials to gain student’s interest and participation during activities and lessons. For example, a group of children were observed playing with Legos at a table and these group of children were focus on what they were doing. Meanwhile, other group of children were observed throwing smalls piece of manipulative toys on the floor. Some of the children seem to be interested in the materials, but not all of them. The teacher makes no attempt guiding students to learning objectives. The teacher provided a small group activity in which children had to decorate the letter B, but the teacher rarely mentioned what the purpose of the lesson
