As a high school senior, over the years I have had multiple opportunities to put myself out in different organizations and activities. Throughout my high school career, I have done just that and managed to stay on top of my academics while enjoying the extracurricular activities. Education has always been my main priority, and is the reason as to why I am going to continue furthering my education at college. The long-term goals I have in my life are just important as the short-term goals, and are the motivation for my schooling and what I do with the rest of my time. Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to predict your future is to create it” I couldn’t agree more. Opportunities come up in our lives every day, and it’s our choice to seize them, or to just continue our daily routine. Our goals for the future differ as we grow older. When I was young, I had dreams of becoming a doctor or the next president, then as the years went by, I had developed more realistic goals. Goals such as going to college, obtaining a successful job, and having my own family. These goals are all still very prominent in my life today and are a large part of my motivation. College has been a top goal of mine since nobody in my family has ever gone to college, and I want to further my education. Since the …show more content…
Growing up, I had always fantasized of what the perfect family would be like. I had even found names that I would name my future children. Family is my main focus and I pray that God blesses me with the opportunity to find a loving husband who loves Christ more than anything and will help me lead our family to a life glorifying to God. My relationship with Christ is a large factor in my life, and will be in my future family. After graduating college, I am hoping to have a steady career, and then eventually get married. Honestly, having my own family is what I’m looking forward to the most in the
...ing a family, having someone who cares about you and love you is all that you will ever need in this world.
As I reflect on my extracurricular and academic activities, I see the essence of my future. I want to attend a great university (like the University of Texas); I want to work hard to become a nurse—a person who has devoted his or herself to caring for the well-being of others.
Given away by my name, I am not an American; I was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam - a dynamic city with over nine million people squeezed into roughly the size of south Bay Area. It was towards the end of my third year of high school that my family immigrated to the U.S. Leaving my hometown behind, at seventeen, I started a new chapter of my life.
People need to think intelligently and set goals that are specific to their needs, making it possible to achieve their goals by making sure they are measurable and realistic and making it possible to build a support system around them; furthermore, they also need to set a deadline with time frames that can be met. Chanika Charles stated that “young people are at risk of being gobbled up by despair, overcome by conditions beyond their control” (A17). To avoid this, people need to start motivating themselves and getting excited about what they want to achieve, making sure their goals are relevant to their needs and being more perseverance when situations become difficult. When setting up their goals, they must ask that magic question: is this relevant to my lifestyle, furthermore, what will I do to achieve it?
The Ultimate Career Goal: I am extremely passionate about marine and wildlife ecosystems and all their inhabitants and have a desire to work in a career that allows me to work closely within these ecosystems as well as allowing myself to educate those that surround me about the importance of science. My ultimate career goal is to work as a laboratory and field technician for a reputable company or organisation.
As my high school career ends, I notice increasingly how much life that I have yet to live and the opportunities available to me in the years ahead. The past four years have been great preparation for my future endeavors, but college is the path leading to my full potential. In order to reach the end of this path, I utilize my most valuable trait—determination—to set short and long-term goals and achieve them. It is with this “can do” spirit—like the one my grandpa, a former Navy Seabee, evinces through his stories—that I have set my personal goals: to volunteer my time in service to others, further develop leadership skills through experiential learning, and excel at my school work no matter how challenging it may seem. Though these may be difficult to maintain, I have faith that my optimistic attitude will enable me to prevail over the challenges I am certain to face.
Throughout time and history, a defining trait for many has been their hair, whether it be in relation to the color, length or thickness. Traditionally, long and full hair has been associated with femininity and beauty. Shorter, thinner hair has also usually been associated with masculinity, and sometimes even weakness. In Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, hair is reflective of the two main female character’s personalities. Hedda’s hair, being thinner and an “agreeable” brown, shows that she has a more powerful and dominant personality. Thea’s hair, on the other hand, is very thick and is a light blonde color, representing that she is a very feminine and light kind of person. Just like their hair, Hedda and Thea of foils of each other, each having
Hopefully, I am able to find a second family at the University of Notre Dame. My family at Notre Dame would guide me through college, be an emotional support, and the presence of them just makes my day. Education is important and a gracious privilege to have, but there is nothing I would not drop in order to be with my loving

After I am able to find a position within Homeland Security I would love to finally have the family of my own that I had wished for. During college, I was able to find the man that turned my world upside down. The reason I wake up every day and go to class or go to work, at the job I have now, is because of the family I aspire to have. Not only do I do this for myself but for my future husband and children. I want them to have a great life and never have to worry about not having something they need or questioning whether or not they will be able to go to college.
As I am preparing for a new chapter in my life, I have put a lot thought in about what I want out of life and what to look forward to as I get older. In order for one to achieve anything, they need to set goals to reach for. I have a handful of goals for my future, short term and long term, that I will actively work towards in my college years and beyond. In my time at UW Eau Claire, I plan to be involved and engaged in student activities on campus. Being active will help me meet new people, build a better resume, and have fun at college. At UWEC, I would like to get involved in anything musical, along with various clubs and Greek life. Similarly, another goal of mine is to have a job on campus. Having a job will not only help me make some

What is my personal purpose? Is a question that I have never thought to ask myself until recently. Then when I started learning more about a personal purpose I started wondering if I have one and what it was. Planning for the future is very prominent in my life. Whether it be for school, finances, or important goals, it doesn’t matter. It has always been critical to plan for the future so that it doesn’t take me by surprise. By getting ready for the future now, I find myself much better prepared in the long run for nearly everything. I have been preparing to serve a 2-year LDS mission for the majority of my life.
When planning for our future it is important to have clear goals in mind and to understand the steps that need to be taken to achieve those goals. My long-term goal is to run my own counseling center and employee at least one other person. Some Skills I already possess that will allow me to succeed with this plan are my ability to relate to people and be consistent in following the steps needed, even though it will be a long and tedious process.
