Kevin seems to enjoy the guitar and continues to be actively engaged in classroom activities. Presently, we’re working on keeping a steady beat while playing different strumming patterns (beat/rhythm discrimination). I look forward to working with Kevin in the second half of the school year.
Jules had basic skills when starting the class in the fall. The one area where he falls short is his capacity to follow song form and chord progressions as they appear in notation. We have worked on developing this skill set and I’m pleased with his progress. I look forward to working with Jules in the second half of the school year.
Wyatt always exhibits great enthusiasm for guitar and continues to be engaged in classroom activities. Although Wyatt has demonstrated steady progress, he still has a challenge remembering basic chord shapes. I

Although Gregory has demonstrated steady progress, he still finds it challenging shifting chords on the beat. This is a common obstacle for beginners. I will support Gregory in mastering this skill and look forward to working with him in the second half of the school year.
Josh is a very talented musician and fairly accomplished guitarist. I usually have him working on intermediate material independently from the group. Presently, Josh has an interest in learning extended scale formations and arpeggios. Although Josh demonstrates a high music aptitude, he still is challenged with standard notation. I will support Josh in mastering this skill and look forward to working with him in the second half of the school year.
Declan is a very committed learner and seems to enjoy the guitar. Although he has demonstrated steady progress, he still struggles with shifting chords on the beat. This is common obstacle for beginners. I will support Declan in mastering this skill and look forward to working with him in the second half of the school
Ringing in the New Year, we’ve chosen an individual who has created his own music and created interesting remixes of other songs over the course of (now) 16 years. We enjoy the twists he plays on his music and admire his efforts to take his music to live performance stage. Local to Brick Township, NJ, Brian Stewart (DJversion666) started out, born and raised, in Evansville Indiana, playing in a multitude of bands, playing bass and/or singing various genres of music. Upon moving to Nashville, he has done studio work, laying down bass tracks for commercials and advertisements. Continuing down the path of music Stewart attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He combines various genres and ties them all together with an industrial sound.
Started out as an avid fan of artists such as Michael J. Fox, Freddie and Albert King and Lightnin' Hopkins, John Mayer is known to have played songs with the guidance of his talent in guitar playing. The gifted artist has continued
To begin with, I am going to talk about what I learned and experienced when Mr. Smith had come to visit. When he had come to visit, I had not expected much. I had expected him to give us a few pointers here and there, to help improve our music. However, I was wrong. However, I was wrong, the advice he gave made a huge impact on our music, as well as on me. One of the tips that Mr. Smith gave, was that when you go from a low to a high note, you need to have a smooth transition. Another piece of advice Mr. Smith gave, was that the music needs to be played lightly or heavily, depending on the type of song. Overall, Mr. Smith’s visit was a great learning experience for me. I learned many things, such as how to think about the pieces in a different way, and tips on more clean and steady sounds. Even though Mr.Smith was only present for one day his advice and tips seemed to have really helped me and our band.
out of the army, he picked up his guitar and started playing music with his
Music was always a long-time love for Johnson. Although Johnson did not appear to bear the gift of a talented guitar musician, the legendary Eddie "Son" House taught him to play when he was a teenager. House taught Johnson not only the basics of blues guitar but many other things that Johnson would use throughout his career. House became a role model for Johnson and he encouraged Johnson to take his music seriously and to achieve his dream of becoming a professional musician.
I have played an intrinsic role in my school’s band and orchestra department through helping organizing performances, teaching classes, and tutoring individuals. On a regular basis, I am responsible for directing and teaching classes including beginning band, with grades ranging from fourth to twelfth, and more advanced ensembles like concert band and marching band. I also play an important role in their performances sometimes by directing and other times by contacting venues to organize dates and times for the shows. I also dedicate time during the week to help beginning players
Since she started in 5th grade, music has been a huge passion for Carlee. Having been a section leader in her band since her sophomore year, Carlee has had plenty of opportunities to perform including switching from trumpet to french horn for a song in her band’s christmas concert this year. She has received
It's easy to get caught-up on notes, chords, scales and other exercises. The right instructor will tell you that learning how to strum a guitar is the golden ticket. Once you understand what this means and how to do it you will become a guitar master.
For the sake of conformity, I had to accomplish this task so that I could put a smile on my parents’ faces, even though I despised that guitar with all my heart. I went week after week to the instructor, and week after week, I would come back distressed and tired of the lessons and of the incredible amount of practice hours required.
He has a seemingly endless drive to pursue his passion, one that led him to drop out of college almost as soon as he enrolled, and make music as if it’s the only thing he truly knows how to do. Any time I’m with him, he’s playing music, either in a concert, just on any guitar he can get his hands on, or maybe even showing the group a song on his phone. He is one of the few people I personally know who is truly passionate, and he gives some of his passion to everyone around him. He has such a positive energy, and so much talent. Watching him perform is amazing, he loses himself in the music, he becomes a different person, one that only he knows. He bares his soul for every performance, even if it’s just a high school talent show. There is no off switch for his
Finally, the last thing you have to do is simply practice for 20 hours. Through sharing these four steps Kaufman proves his main point to the audience, when he claims that he has tested this theory by learning how to play the ukulele, by stating that “you can play pretty much any pop song from the last five decades by knowing four chords” (15:22). Through this, Kaufman demonstrates that just how anyone should be able to play any pop song using four simple chords, anyone should be able to learn a new skill by applying his four steps.
meet Scooter. I admire the talent and dedication it takes to learn how to play instrument and it is inspiring that Justin learned to play all these instruments without and instructor.
He 's always loved playing guitar and was in a few bands when he was younger, and it was a lot of work! Eventually, he decided that it wasn 't worth working so hard to possibly never get where he wanted to get, so he stopped playing, went to university, and became an accountant! Fast forward twenty years and he realized that it 's easy to give up and not work towards what you REALLY want, but it 's not rewarding. He hated his job and his life. He picked his guitar back up, recorded himself playing, put it up on YouTube, and is now working every day (in the hours after his accounting job) to make the dream of playing guitar for a living come true. He is willing to go the extra mile because he knows that choosing to not do what needs to be done is much more painful than working hard towards a goal that he 's passionate about.
Now i had played the guitar for years now, played in a few bands.....nothing i ever saw potential in. Ben had had a very long stay with a great local band as their bass player and as that came to an end he started to learn the drums, which he called his true passion. New at the insturment he was, but no matter, we began lookin for other people to fill the band. His very good freind dave had long wanted to front a band and we all beleived he was just the man for the job, very outgoing charismatic, and of course he was always the ladies man. Now we just needed a bass player to complete our quartet. One of our good freinds by the name of mike played the guitar which is very simalar to bass and we all thought he was a person that we wanted in the band, so we asked him to make the change for us. He agreed and now the task of aquiring the personel was complete, now we just needed material, and much much practice.
The school that I visited was new. It was the first year of the school opening. The school board had combined two schools into one, so the students had to adjust to their new environments and new individuals. They seemed to be getting along well with each other. Since the school is new the teacher has to adjust to new problems that araise. Times for the subjects and times for using the computer labs change. So the teacher must always be fixable for anything. In this observation of this classroom I learned about the enjoyment of teaching. How you have to adapt to each of the students.
