A person who has had a significant influence on me is Ian Buford, a friend of mine. As background, I first met Ian as a freshman through one of my best friends from another school. He is a year older than me, and an aspiring musician. In the 4 years that I have known him, he has been in 3 bands, and I have gone to countless shows that he has played in. Recently, his current band got signed, and they’re touring this summer. As a musician, Ian inspired me at first to practice more, and always told me and anyone else who played to just keep playing. Of course, I'm not planning to major in music, his influence goes beyond that.
Ian is a friendly, energetic person, and he surrounds himself with love and positive energy wherever he goes. He’s friends with everyone, because everyone likes him. Everything he does he does with love, he even clicks the "love" button on facebook instead of "like". Ian is one of those people who only does what he wants to do, he doesn’t just allow himself to be dragged along places. He has always known what he wants to do, and who he wants to be with when he does it. In this way, Ian influences me to be, maybe not a better

person, but a more honest person. A person who isn’t afraid to say no, to make my own choices. A person who can openly feel, and love, even when it's embarrassing. Ever since I met Ian, his passion for music has radiated.
He has a seemingly endless drive to pursue his passion, one that led him to drop out of college almost as soon as he enrolled, and make music as if it’s the only thing he truly knows how to do. Any time I’m with him, he’s playing music, either in a concert, just on any guitar he can get his hands on, or maybe even showing the group a song on his phone. He is one of the few people I personally know who is truly passionate, and he gives some of his passion to everyone around him. He has such a positive energy, and so much talent. Watching him perform is amazing, he loses himself in the music, he becomes a different person, one that only he knows. He bares his soul for every performance, even if it’s just a high school talent show. There is no off switch for his
talent. At first, I found myself becoming jealous of Ian. He knew what he wanted, and he wasn’t going to stop until he got it. I am also a musician, though definitely not as talented, and I found myself wanting to be like him. Of course, music is not my calling, which I realized when I discovered my own love. Ian’s passion led me to discover and pursue my own passion, architecture and art history. I always felt jealous of the way he knew what he wanted out of life at such an early age. He was born a musician, and he has practiced it his whole life. I discovered my passion for architecture much later, though I have admired ancient and modern structures alike since I was a child. I knew for sure that this is what I want to do when I began to take more difficult classes in school, and art classes, both of which I deeply enjoyed. Despite knowing what I want to do, I have been afraid to admit it due to the fear of failure that lurks within everyone making a difficult decision. Through people like Ian, who throw themselves head-first, eyes wide open into what they want to do, I have found the inspiration to do the same. I know that if I do not at least try, I will never find happiness in life.
There are certain musicians that come along that shift a culture, attitude, or future musicians. Another musician that went on influence future generations and considered one of the greatest guitar players in the world is Eddie Van Halen.
Jack also influences me and other young golfers. He influences me with all the things he accomplished in golf, I want to learn how he worked to get that good and become as good of a golfer as he was. Also through this research paper I’ve learned what he did at a young age to get good and how much of and influence he was to his family. I really hope that someday I’ll be like Jack. Caring for family, being influenced by so many and then influencing many, and finally being the best golfer I can be.
My current private teacher, Gayle, has gotten me into the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, directed by Liza Grossman, The North East Ohio Regional Orchestra, gig’s with the Cleveland Pops orchestra, and so many other opportunities. Gayle not only is going to prepare me for college auditions, but is going to be one of my biggest support systems throughout my long college application journey. Gayle Klaber, is one of the most premier cellists in Ohio (playing with the Cleveland Pops, The Blue Water Chamber Orchestra, The Firelands Symphony). She has taught me to play more confidently as a musician, by improving my technique and my balance as both a person and a musician. Being principal cellist in the “advanced” group at my high school for both my junior and senior year taught me how to lead a section.
Throughout everyone’s life, there are multiple people who leave influences on said person, positive and negative. In my life, my soccer coach, Jason Harrod, has left an enormous impact on me. Not only has he left influences on my life but he always manages to boost my mood just from seeing him in the halls because it gives me flashbacks to the fun soccer seasons I’ve had with him. Coach Harrod was my JV soccer coach during 9th and 10th grade. He has not only taught me standard soccer skills but some life lessons as well. Coach Jason Harrod is a very well-rounded individual and I have no objection to what he has left within my morals.
When it comes to choosing an individual who has positively influenced my life, a handful of ideal names come to mind from all primary aspects of my experiences. People like Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, River Phoenix, James Dean, writer and renowned journalist Hunter S. Thompson, my brother Michael, and extraordinary musicians including Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, and my personal goddess, Stevie Nicks. While all these people have changed and inspired me in specific ways, there's one person that impacts my daily decisions, thoughts, and actions more prominently than anyone else could. Since the day I was born, I've had the advantage of being exposed to the music that has changed the world, making musicians and their creations the main source of
Some of the most influential things in my life have changed me so much and shaped me into the person I am today. If it wasn’t for my friends and family I wouldn't have nearly the amount of musical knowledge that I have now and I’m so grateful that I can be somewhat well versed in a topic that I am so passionate about. And when I get into the topic of my friends and family I always have the feeling that I am extremely lucky to have so many great people that care so much about me in my life, I always have someone to lean on when I’m going through a hard time, and I always feel like they support me in my choices to be in the BHS Drama Program. The BHS Drama program is something that I look forward to every day after school and honestly it gives me the motivation I need to go to school and get my work done. There are so many other things that I’m grateful for but if were not for these things than I would be a completely different person than I am now. I’ve made so many memories and shared so many experience with just these things alone, they take up almost all of my
Throughout my life I have seen how people admire artists and singers. For whatever reasons, these individuals have built careers to fulfill their need for money and fame. Many singers and artists that appear on television have started from the bottom and worked their way up in the world of entertainment. In doing so, their stories have impacted the lives of many people. In addition to these individuals, many admire the superheroes, with their superpowers, that they have grown up watching. But, it is not singers, artists, or superheroes that have had an influence on me; it was a teacher. It took me two years to realize what a great impact one of my high school teachers had on me; she is a fantastic teacher with many strengths and great
The person I chose for my project was Cole Sundt. The reason I chose him for my project was because of my close relationship with his dad. During football season I was very close to Coach Sundt and would always talk to him before and after practice. My family grew up knowing his family but I wasn't close with Cole really. It wasn’t up until football that me and Cole started to talk a little. I have always kind of knew him in a sense that i see him hanging with my cousins but I've never been close with him. I choose Cole because I feel like i can connect with him very well considering we have a lot of mutual friends and i have a lot of family members close with him and his family. This made me want to choose him as my person for the project.
Dr. James Sawyer, the first person I would see every morning in the band room for first hour, my freshman year. I have never met anyone with much wisdom and respect for all people. Doc, fills a room with joy and reverence, he can make someone smile without speaking. He was not only my band director for four years, he is a mentor and a friend, someone I trust and look up to. Everyday, he would enlighten us, give us advice on being better students and people in society. I have kept a moral that Dr. Sawyer constantly reminded us of. He told us that one of our purposes in life was to help others. In any way we could help them, whether it was opening the door for a busy person, or directing them to the correct location. It did not make a difference of how famous we would become before we died or how wealthy we were. So
helped me make many great friends and also made school fun for me. He also taught me how to play the clarinet. Now, I love playing the clarinet and it could even get me a scolarship for college.
My next major influence was my first grade teacher. I remember most of that school year was spent on Martin Luther King Jr. That was the first time I had learned about racism, and what had happened in the past to blacks, amongst others. That school year had a great impact on me and it has changed me ever since to treat all people fairly, no matter what color, sex, intelligence level, social class, etc. This experience has taught me the meaning of democracy, and how to practice it.
Tyler is one of the only people that can make me instantly smile. Just the feeling I get when I simply see a picture of him smiling makes me feel very warm and fuzzy inside. His smile is one of the most genuine, pure smiles I have ever seen. His lyrics radiate sense of hope towards toward the audience every single time he performs, along with the drummer. There is many days where one can feel down in the dumps, but he can easily fix that just with the motive of his lyrics. It’s as if you were to be lifted from quicksand, they are the ones who reach out to help. His strong attempts to make the people surrounding him optimistic, hopeful really reach out to me and many others. He is loved by many for that.
I’ve been influenced by many people in my life; unfortunately, most of them have not been good influences. However, since I became a Christian, having positive, influential people in my life is normal. Moreover, there is one person, in particular, other than Jesus, who has influenced my life tremendously and continues to do so; his name is Issac Detiz. I have learned a great deal from him and his work, and my life has never been better. Furthermore, Issac Deitz is a major influence in my life several reasons.
I used to be in a band called Deft. There were five of us. Brandon, 19, was our singer, Rob,16, was lead guitarist, Kevin, 18, was the drummer, his little brother Jason, 16, was the bassist, and I played rhythm guitar. Kevin and I had been working together for four or five years, ever since he moved to Watertown. We had been in and out of several bands, but always stuck together. My dad came home one day and told us about a friend of his whose step-son played guitar. We called him up and had him come over to audition. He was amazing especially considering his age, 15, so there was no way we could pass him up. A week later, the three of us a played a county fair Battle of the Bands and lost. This was no big deal, since we had been together for exactly a week. Over the next couple months we searched high and low for a singer and a bassist, when we realized what we were looking for was right under our noses all along. Kevin’s younger brother Jason had played upright bass in middle school so we recruited him for the low end. A close friend of their family, Brandon, stayed with them every summer. We got to thinking and realized that he had a great “choir” voice, so we brought him to a practice and had him audition. He was the best vocalist we had ever played with, so there was no doubt in our mind he was the one.
...e of the fact that he did not get to receive the higher education, he motivated me to go to college and become a better person. His life story not only inspires me to work harder towards obtaining my educational goal, but also to work in helping other people.
