Drive
Steve Jobs’ key qualities of leadership would have been his drive to achieve high quality. Steve Jobs’ energy was extremely high which gave him the ability to be persistent. Steve Jobs’ was not the typical born leader type. This is something that he developed along the way. By having the drive Steve Jobs’ encourage others to have the same drive.

Although, Steve Jobs’ did not had a strong desire to lead others. Steve Jobs’ did have a strong desire to change the world. Steve Jobs’ was the first in line to take on the responsibility of a project or new development. Steve Jobs’ was the one that wanted and needed to be in control of everything in his life.

Supportive leader Steve Jobs’ was not one to care if you did not like him. However, his team members would say they loved working with him. And gained a great deal by the way you treated each and everyone in the same manner. Team members would have to say that he was someone that took same getting used to. Although, some would say he was rude at times, he was not rude would you got to know him. Steve Jobs’ was just one that did not beat around the bush.
Participative leader Steve Jobs’ was one to brainstorm with the group on the project at hand. Steve Jobs’ would use the suggestions of other team members before making a decision. However, if Steve Jobs’ though the suggestion was not relevant he would let them know right away.
Achievement-oriented leader Steve Jobs’ set challenges and goals and expected this team to perform above their ability. Steve Jobs’ pushed his team members to achieve task they never dreamed of performing. Steve Jobs’ would work on a project day in and day out until the project was finished and prefect.
To be a great leader there are many qualities you must have. The hard part is actually knowing what qualities you need, because their are different types of leaders. For example you might be a business leader. These leaders do everything they can to motivate their co-workers, make sure the business stays firm, and also are well prepared for any crises that may occur. In the article it states, “Leaders can learn a lot from the late Apple CEO, but not all of it should be emulated.” In the speech it states, “And just last year, with the introduction of the IPad, Apple jumpstarted an entirely new product category that no one thought they could live without.” Both the article and the speech are recognizing Jobs as being an exemplary leader. On October 5, 2011 Steve Jobs passed away in his home in Palo Alto California; Jobs had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2003. Steve brought so much different technological advancement that most people use everyday without knowing who created them. Everything that Jobs created, he did because he understood what his customers wanted, and where the market was going. Steve Jobs believed in all of his products and innovations he sold to people, and had faith in the people he worked with was what really shaped Apple. After leaving the company and then returning, Steve Jobs’ influence made Apple one of the top computer companies in the world.
In 2005, Steve Jobs’ gave a commencement speech to the University of Stanford. His speech is a very motivational and inspiring to everyone that has listened to it. Already, Jobs’ tendency towards conscientiousness showed in his leadership style. Rather than leading an Apple that produced countless variations of the computer, Jobs saw the importance of efficiency. Just as a conscientious person desires to accomplish a task as well as possible, Jobs’ leadership style forced Apple to commit to making only four computers the best possible products. The next test of Jobs’ leadership style would be the creation of the iPod in 2001, the product that would redefine the music consumption market. Interestingly, Gladwell’s exposé of Steve Job’s leadership process likens Jobs to a “tweaker” rather than an inventor, citing the iPod as one such example (5). Rather than creating a brand new product, Jobs was committed to creating the perfect product for music playback. During Jobs’ time at Apple, he would often refine existing ideas until it fit his vision rather than creating something new. One famous quote attributed to Steve Jobs is “I’ll know it when I see it” (Gladwell 6). By constantly pushing his engineers and designers until they created a product that fit his vision, much to the chagrin of those working for him, Steve Jobs was able to release products that would revolutionize their markets, just as the iPod did. This penchant for perfection stems from Jobs’ tendency towards neuroticism. Although neuroticism is often regarded by many as a negative factor to successful leadership, I argue that neuroticism was key to Jobs’ leadership style.
