Social network sites have without a doubt become an important part of everyday life for many people, considering that Americans live in a country of technological advances. From people constantly checking their Facebook page to people posting pictures on Instagram, social media has changed people’s behavior and the way that they communicate with others. One of these disadvantages is whether there is invasion of privacy while people are on social networking sites. With having personal information online, some wonder if their information is really safe despite social networking sites having various safety tools. Another disadvantage of social networking is that it could lead to someone missing at on a job or a dream school. It is often said that employers now check the Facebook page of prospective employees. The same potentially could be said about universities when they are deciding which students to accept or reject. One post could basically ruin one’s future. One of the obvious effects is loss of production and wasting time. Studies have shown that employees would regularly check their Facebook page and Twitter even when they are at work. Also, information that is posted on social media cannot be completely deleted and that post could later on ruin someone’s life. So a cause of this could be maybe someone got into an argument with someone and took it to social media such as Twitter. What one posts online because of their emotions, could later lead to trouble. In extreme conditions, some top athletes have lost their scholarship because of what they post on Twitter.
