Now days everybody is using it whether its companies using media to promote its products or even teachers to tweet out what last night’s homework was. Social media is a great tool that helps us connect with the world and communicate our ideas. Yet there are some people who believe that social media has a negative impact towards our society as they believe that people can get addicted to it, it causes them to get easily distracted, and many other dangers. Even though people have different opinions on whether social media has a positive or negative impact on society, it can be said that social media has a positive effect on society as a whole because it lets people communicate with each other easily, it has been said to improve education among children, and has helped improve the economy in the world. One of the main reasons why social media has positively affected our society is because of how it has made communicating with people much easier. “Today, four out of five active internet users maintain at least one social media profile” (Moe, 3). Using these websites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and etc., people talk about everything with anyone from what they are planning to do, also what they are eating and much more (Moe, 24). With the use of social media, people are becoming more connected every day. However, people are dived on whether or not this connection is helpful or harmful. Today’s generation in America is widely affected by social media, but the real question that millions want the answer to is what is the real impact? “76% of American adults online use social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, as of July 2015, up from 26% in 2008. On social media sites like these, users may develop biographical profiles, communicate with friends and strangers, do research, and share thoughts, photos, music, links, and more. ” Social media has been the cause of countless problems, but also the solution to numerous issues which is why it is so hard to decide if it is more helpful than it is a burden or vise versa.
With the advancement in technology, everyone and everywhere is using social media or social networking sites to interact with other people. In this technological world, communication has grown very fast due to this social media. Nowadays, there is no issue of long distance; they can communicate with people across the world. Even though social media can bring you closer to those people, it destroys the relationship with the people who are reachable. It disconnects the user from the reality. Some might oppose by saying that they can learn abundant new things from social media. Social Media is not all about bullying or insulting, but it can be about exploring new things by reading someone else’s blog or posts from a news reporter. You can learn things from it that you have never heard of.

Social networking was originally created to simply reconnect people with old high school pals, but in recent years it has evolved into a completely different operation. When social media first originated it was also intended for adult usage, which has in recent years expanded into the usage of all ages.
