I am choosing to study the Career Field of Elementary education. (Teaching) I have been interested in teaching for a long time because I have always been around teachers and they talk about the joy of helping children learn and grow in their education. This particular career field interest me because of how I love to learn new things. I believe that everybody needs a good education to be successful, and I would love to help children achieve that education they need. Most importantly I want to find new and creative ways of making learning fun.
The profession of teaching has changed a lot since the starting of this profession. In the start of teaching, prophets and priests were the teachers (usually only) wealthy children. Known as one of the wisest men in the world, Confucius, was also one of the first teachers in the sixth century. Confucius is remembered by his countless quotes of his teachings on kindness, wisdom, trustworthiness, and respect.
“The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential . . . these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”-Confucius
From Confucius on the teaching field was predominantly male, and had little to do with women until the eighteenth century. During the early eighteenth century teacher training became popular-but for men mostly. Men were able to study at universities while women, very few, were able to study at teaching academies. It was not until the early twentieth century that teacher were required to become certified before teaching. Before teachers were chosen by local officials based on their moral beliefs and if they could write and read.
Over the past three decades the profession has become diverse, larger, younger, and p...

...ted, and the patience level is a deal breaker at the moment. During my research I found that a teacher has to do most paper or preparation work outside the classroom hours. And I know this is all true because my mom is an Elementary Teacher and every night she comes home with stacks and stacks of paper to read, grade, and correct. (Not to mention preparing lesson plans and making worksheets.) I’d rather have a job were I can leave all my work at my office and be able to come home and do what I please with my time. As of right now I am thinking about looking into the career of a physical therapist, because a physical therapist is a job that has the qualities of a job I want. For example: I do not have to interact with a lot of people, I can leave my work at my office at the end of the day, and I would be able to choose the specific hours in the day that I work.
Ladies certainly didn't choose the profession of teaching because of monetary benefits. Butler explained that schoolteachers were met with the challenge of having "low wages and a high cost of living" (73). Classes were only taught during the seasons that didn't coincide with the heaviest farm production, and many districts only paid "per head/per day, a system that lowered teacher salaries when children were absent for impassable travel conditions or seasonal farm and ranch responsibilities" (Butler 73).
Confucius was the most influential philosopher, also the first teacher in China who was instrumental in establishing teaching as a vocation.
Continuing to study education and children psychology will contribute to my future profession because I believe teachers never stop learning and that we need to continue going to school to be able to provide excellent services to children. I think educators need to continue and not stop their studies because children need the best education and guidance. I learned in this class that educators need to be role models for children and their families and that we need to respect their culture to be able to understand them
I believe education is a building process, everything from kindergarten through my college years has let me gained and expanded my education through not only learning facts and concepts, but also learning about myself. Through all that I have acquired, I believe Elementary Education is my true calling. My desire to pursue Education, specifically Elementary education came from a discovery of myself. As a college student you look for opportunities to gain knowledge and make a little extra cash on the side. When I took the opportunity to take a job for an after school elementary program called Bricks 4 Kidz, I never thought It would change my views on my major the way it did. I went into college with a mind set on Business Management thinking that was my true calling, but when I experienced how it feels to work with kids and how much I really enjoy it I started rethinking my major. When a student of mine grabbed my leg and begged me to not leave because he wanted me to stay and keep teaching was the moment I knew I was doing something right with my life and that Education was the perfect path for me.
In a society where kids must go to school up to the collegiate level, teaching is an impactful career choice. Teachers help contour the minds of future leaders of the world. Furthermore, teachers play a crucial role in guiding students to the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to succeed in life, and teachers lead students to make informed decisions on any topic the meet in the future. As a teacher, a person must relinquish their knowledge onto students. Finally, they must prepare their students for all the obstacles they will face later in life.
In contrast, the teaching profession was a large field of employment for women. In the late 1980s more than twice as many women as men taught in elementary and high schools. In higher education, however, women held only about one third of the teaching positions, concentrated in such fields as education, social service, home economics, nursing, and library science.
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
The first thing that I like to share about why I choose to be a teacher and what is influencing me. The main reason that I like to be a teacher is my goals, I want to be a teacher, the addition of that influencing me are a teacher of the primary school teacher, cultural aspect and teacher identity. From the more strongly to my passion is via the fearful teachers from how they treat on their students/children.
All human societies, past and present, have had an interest in education; and many have claimed that teaching is the second oldest profession. While not all societies channel sufficient resources into support for educational activities and institutions, all at the very least acknowledge their centrality; and for good reasons. Teaching, in my opinion is the first profession period. Teaching will always and forever be used until the end of time. We know that everyone is born unknowing about education, norms, and is illiterate; we do not know about the community or society as a whole. That is where teachers come in to play. Things like this must be taught, we are not born with knowledge.
The first main reason that I have chosen teaching as a profession is because I believe that it’s continuous rewards will help me to lead a happy and fulfilled life. For example, teaching young children is one of the few jobs in which you can give and receive hugs on a daily basis. Children have an innocence and a passion for knowledge that I find amazing and I do not feel complete unless I am around them. Teaching will help provide this fulfillment for me every day. Also, teaching is a job in which it is ok, and even encouraged, to laugh each and every day. I feel that this is important for a person’s well-being and I think that it helps to keep people young and alive. I feel that in many other professions the day-to-day routine would become monotonous and boring, and I do not think that I would live a truly happy and fulfilled life unless I could be around children. I feel that a classroom provides many unique and dynamic opportunities every single day and I find that very appealing. Also, I am a very relationship-oriented person and I feel that I will enjoy building unique relationships with each child. I plan on knowing every child as thoroughly as possible because I feel that this will help me to be better at my job.
The major I have selected is an Education Major. More specifically an Elementary Major to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming an Elementary Teacher. I love to be around children, and having a degree in Education will help me to achieve my goal because that is all I could see myself being. I want to be able to make an environment for students that make them want to come to school every day. To have that comfortable environment to establish rules that help maintain the classroom as well as letting students know they can trust me.
Having actually experienced the classroom, helping the children, and the hours spent with them seemed to just past by so fast made me want to look into this profession. Being able to teach children things that they will actually use in the future make me feel oddly euphoric. I have always enjoyed being around children so working with children would be a plus for me. Children have such an active imagination that I would not ever get bored of my job. I would be able to help the children to learn proper ways of doing things.
There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
“Teaching is often a difficult process, but the end result is very rewarding. Watching a child develop confidence and seeing a student progress in their studies is a very exciting process. Teaching young children is especially great because it is setting a foundation for life-long learning.”(Chronicle guidance publications). What is teaching? A teacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children), or students (adults) using lectures, audiovisual aids, demonstrations, and computers to present academic, social, and motor skills. Teachers can also teach foreign languages, art, kids with special needs, and P.E. Teaching has changed a lot compared to the traditional methods of just lectures and textbooks. Students now are encouraged to actively learn through groups or individual projects. They have learning games, debates, and experiments to help them through the learning process. Being a teacher would be a great career for anyone who wants to further themselves, to help people, and to have great benefits (chronicle guidance publications).
I chose to major in elementary education because of my love for children . I enjoy working with children, I feel that they have an entirely different way of looking at the world. I want to make a difference in the lives of children. I want to improve their lives, but at the same time make it fun and interesting instead of dull and tedious. Children naturally have a short attention span. I have worked in an elementary school for four years, and I have learned that to keep children entertained but at the same time teaching them.
