Education Major Essay

The major I have selected is an Education Major. More specifically an Elementary Major to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming an Elementary Teacher. I love to be around children, and having a degree in Education will help me to achieve my goal because that is all I could see myself being. I want to be able to make an environment for students that make them want to come to school every day. To have that comfortable environment to establish rules that help maintain the classroom as well as letting students know they can trust me. Also, having that interactive classroom where I am not the only one creating the rules, but letting the students be a part of the decision making to allow for a controlled learning environment. Having such an experience is a dream come true for me. Also, within the class we were taught on how to look for the teacher’s perspective in lesson plans. The aspect of seeing the teacher’s perspective was never boring for me because, as a class, we were able to work together to come up with ideas to see how in a certain type of scenario what a student could gain from the lesson. My whole goal of teaching is to watch the learning and growing and seeing the knowledge students are gaining from the lessons. The other two classes have been behind the scenes of what you need to learn about children to ensure their safety. Also, being able to guide students through some tough situations at a younger age. Next step is to transfer the credits over to University of Northern Iowa where I will be attending in the fall of 2018. The University of Northern Iowa is where I will receive my four years of college to receive my Bachelors Degree and Teaching License.
