A leader is needed to challenge current thinking, influence a transitional movement and lead a group of people to carry out the new ideas. A good leader is required for others to identify qualities within themselves that closely reflect the thoughts, beliefs and actions of those they choose to follow. Without good leaders there would be no forward motion amongst the human race as there would be no one to take charge and inspire revolutionary events.
Leaders lead. They lead by example, by demonstrating and living out organizational values, and by being seen. A good leader will never ask a teammate to do something they are not willing to do. Leaders also clearly understand the central purpose of their organization and ensure it is crystal clear to every member of the team...and they are relentless in pursuing it.
There are so many reasons why I want to be a link crew leader. First of all, if I was a link crew leader, it means that I will be able to help the incoming freshmen. I remember going to the orientation in 9th grade. I was so scared, but the link crew leaders told me that I would be okay. The encouragement and the positivity that they showed me help me a lot and I really want to do the same for the upcoming freshmen. Next, becoming a link crew leader will also help me grow as a person. It will help me become more confident in myself and become a better leader especially after assisting students to transition from 8th grade to 9th grade. A leader is a person that commands attention. The leader brings an ambience to the room. When a leader makes decisions, they have to be conscious about how they approach it. If you are considered being a leader, then people see something in you that no one else sees in you. As a leader, you have to consider the decisions that you make and that includes being ethical right. Leader should be prime examples for future leaders and show them the standards they have to uphold as leaders. The choice to make sure that you are not just making the right decision for yourself and others is a task. A person can only be a leader if they know how to be a leader. A leader is not for everyone and to be considering for the role you have to show that you are ready to the best. The role of leader does not limit themselves to what they do and how they do things. If you want to be a good leader, then look at leaders who represent good qualities. As a leader, you want to follow a person who does well and looks out for the good of people.
In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.

The Leader-Member Exchange Theory, or LMX, is a two-way relationship between management/supervisors and their employees/subordinates. The theory assumes that leaders use different management styles, leadership styles, and behaviors with each individual subordinate or group of subordinates. The exchange between supervisors and subordinates will be inconsistent between each individual member of the group. A supervisor may be very kind and supportive to one employee/group and be very critical and unresponsive to another employee/group. Due to this type of interaction, the LMX theory suggests that leaders classify subordinates into two groups, the in-group members and the out-group members (Gibson, Ivancevich, Donnelly, & Konopaske, 2012, p. 334).

One of the most important aspects of the work area is leadership. Without leadership, there will be no guidance to for teamwork and the percentage of successful goal will be slim to none. Becoming a great leader is no easy feat however. An exceptional leader must lock in on specific attributes such as intellect, moral character, and human understanding. It doesn’t seem like much, but for a majority of people it can be almost impossible. These qualities alone listed above are some of many important qualities that will allow a leader to inspire and guide a group of people towards goals successfully.

In a simple explanation, leadership is a technique that an individual influence a group of people to achieve a common goal. A good leader can be a supervisor, manager or a business owner. Leadership is necessary for a group to accomplish goals. Leadership according to Lamberton and Minor (2014), is the ability to impact people to attain a goal. A leader according to Gaiter (2013), sets direction and influences others to accomplish goals and directs cohesiveness. A leaders’ goal is not just the success of the team but, also the success of individuals on the team, a leader must motivate, inspire and empower others for success (Gaiter, 2013). To accomplish these goals a leader will utilize a leadership style.
Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. Being a leader one must maintain an image of being the role model. I believe that this is leader should be who is someone who has the ability to influence, encourage, listen, and nurture. They are able to inspire, stimulate, persuade, shape, and have an effect on others.
Lastly, leaders drive projects and people to the finish line. They are like freight trains, unstoppable forces that will breakthrough any obstacle that gets in their way. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they plough through people that get in their way. A good leader will push teamwork rather than individual achievements. They compliment members of the group under their care in order to motivate team members and get them to buy into their plan.
