What does it mean to be a leader? There are many different ideas about what it means to be a good leader and what the leadership means. In a simple explanation, leadership is a technique that an individual influence a group of people to achieve a common goal. A good leader can be a supervisor, manager or a business owner. Leaders are people who have expertise in achieving goals, no matter what their job titles are. Leadership is about coping with change. In a modern age we live, especially in the twentieth century, “more companies are looking for people with great leadership skills” because they can solve problems (2015, P. 13). I believe that core values are essential to construct my character and personality as a leader. My core values that I believe are as follow: 1- Honesty & Integrity Honesty and integrity are the two most important characteristics for leadership success in any work place. The foundation of any relationship is honesty. To be a good leader, one must be honest. My goal is to create a workplace that every people can trust me and I can trust them so that we work together for a common goal. I would like to be a trusted leader because I am sure this characteristic will bring Done Right and On Time result in my career. 2- Self-Confidence In my idea, leaders without self-confidence are not actually leaders. According to David Barrett (2010), “self-confidence is the fundamental basis from which leadership grows”. I am wondering without that conception, how leaders can influence and judge others.
