A leader is a person that commands attention. The leader brings an ambience to the room. When a leader makes decisions, they have to be conscious about how they approach it. If you are considered being a leader, then people see something in you that no one else sees in you. As a leader, you have to consider the decisions that you make and that includes being ethical right. Leader should be prime examples for future leaders and show them the standards they have to uphold as leaders. The choice to make sure that you are not just making the right decision for yourself and others is a task. A person can only be a leader if they know how to be a leader. A leader is not for everyone and to be considering for the role you have to show that you are ready to the best. The role of leader does not limit themselves to what they do and how they do things. If you want to be a good leader, then look at leaders who represent good qualities. As a leader, you want to follow a person who does well and looks out for the good of people. A leader who is ethical and empowering can be very beneficial to an employee. It is as if you are getting the best of both worlds. A leader should not just be anybody, but a person who serves a purpose and loves the job that they are doing. A leading should always be on top of the job that they are doing, “Ethical and empowering leadership have been suggested as important predictors of leader effectiveness. Empirical research has confirmed that ethical and empowering leader behaviors are each positively related to leader effectiveness(Hassan, S., Mahsud, R., Yukl, G., & Prussia, G. E. (2013).” When you have a leader that is going in the right direction, then you have no choice but to follow them. The thing about a lead... ... middle of paper ... ...y will do right as a person. I know that leaders can be intimidating but they are supposed to pose power. It is one of the qualities that I like about. I know that people who work with leaders will not always agree to what they have to say all of the time. Works Cited Ferrell, O. C., Fraedrich, J., & Ferrell, L. (2013). Everyone has their own ideas of what a leader is, what they might look like, act like or maybe what their accomplishments were. They, who are the leaders are the ones who have made a changed in the world and have shown people how true leaders are recognized as. They may have made mistakes in life, but they each take leadership and they each are unique, having their own personalities and an individual quality that makes them a true leader. A leader can portray attributes like courage: having bravery and overcoming fears, confidence: to believe in oneself, and action: to be able to accomplish amazing deeds for the benefit of family, friends and others.
Leaders should lead by example. What a leader does and how they do it, serves as an example for others to follow. A leader’s behavior and actions are an important and effective way to influence the behavior of the people the lead. Leaders must treat other with dignity and respect. Leaders take responsibility for their actions, maintain their integrity by doing the right things and develop personable and commutative vision for their organizations. Leaders instill a sense of discipline; enforce organizational standards of the organization and do not turn a blind eye or overlook problems.
What is a leader? A leader is someone who takes command and leads an organization or group to success. Anyone can be a leader but in order to become a great leader you have to have to possess certain characteristics. I will be using Odysseus from the Odyssey isas an example of a leader who has suitable characteristics. You also have to know what harmful characteristics a leader may possess to determine if they are good leaders or not.

Leaders, an individual that people look up to for direction, inspiration, and guidance in life. Passion, influential, reliability, a vision, etc. These traits along with many more, are the things that make leaders great and successful. Everyone has different personality traits that make us capable of being leaders in this world and I learned that throughout this course. Everyone is different, whether good or bad, ethical or unethical, everyone has a leadership style all their own. “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader (John Quincy Adams).”
Currently, leadership is generally understood as a person with insight and wisdom of guidance, which expected to be efficient in management responsibilities like planning organizing, and monitoring performance (Kandola, 2004, p. 144). Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
There are lots of definitions and interpretations for the term LEADERSHIP. One is “A relationship through which one person influences the behaviour or actions of other people” (Mullins, L.J. 2002, Management and Organisational Behaviour, 6th Edition, FT Publishing, p904). Another popular definition would be, “the process of influencing an organization or groups within an organization in its efforts towards achieving a goal” (Johnson, Scholes & Whittington, 2005, Exploring Corporate Strategy, 7th Edition, FT Prentice Hall, p.519)
There are many different things I think of when I think of what leadership means to me. My idea of leadership is to be able to inspire others, get them excited to do something, motivate them and set an example to others. I also think that showing respect to others is a key part of leadership. You don’t just need leadership qualities, but you need to be a successful leader. To me being a successful leader is being able to have people follow you and not disrespect you. If you are a great leader your followers start to respect you more. To be a leader you also need to have certain qualities like being sociable, intelligent, have patience to deal with situations. A leader needs to be motivated or they will be a failure. I think I show leader ship all the time inside and outside of school. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (John C. Maxwell).
What is leadership? Leadership is defined as a process by which a individual will influence others to obtain goals. Leaders will guide, direct motivate, or inspire others. Leadership is defined by not only traits but actions as well. Leaders are inspirational, trustworthy and charismatic. Many people may think a manger is leader. Although leadership and management go hand in hand, they are not the same. Everyone has their own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have. To me, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and having a vision are few characteristics of becoming an effective leader. A leader is not only born, but made. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.
What is a leader? When thinking of this question I feel like you have to really know what it means to be a leader. Becoming the kind of leader that people would follow voluntarily; even if you had no title or position. –Brian Tracy. No one is born a leader, leaderships skills come from life experiences, education and employment. Everyone grows into a leader and then afterwards grow into a leadership style that will eventually begin to shape and inspire other leaders. Having a title or high above power does not make you a leader. Inspiring and providing great communication, confidence, advice, laughs, knowledge, honesty and reality. Those great skills help you become a great leader. Even with these great leadership skills, there are
Ethical leadership organizational ethics and socially responsibility are inseparable (Johnson). Leadership is not a inherited gift or family heritage; it is not a degree from an ivy league graduate school. Becoming a leader is an intentional process of growth that must be lived out experientially (Mullane). Ethical leaders demonstrate three distinctive characteristics, knowledge, action and character. Leaders have to have the ability to say “yes” or even “no” to a never ending series of challenges. A leader needs to be able to define their values, character and leadership style. When accepting the role of leadership you become encumbered by ethical issues and concerns. .
