What is a leader? When thinking of this question I feel like you have to really know what it means to be a leader. Participative leaders or better known as democratic leaders include team members and others, but making the final decision is up to the participative leader. Participative leaders build confidence and knowledge within team members because their inputs matter within decision making. It helps team members think their opinions help with decisions. If there is change that needs to be implemented a participative leader helps team members understand the change in positive way. I would definitely consider myself a participative leader because I love gathering as many opinions from people just in case I don’t see the situation from another point. It helps me put everything in a good perspective.

Are you a transactional leader? Transactional leaders are more of give and take leader. Transactional leaders teach team members a task and then review their performance of the task, then either coach or reward the team member based upon results. There is kind of no wiggle room being a transactional leader due to the fact either the team member has accomplished the task or failed. It can become a boring style because you are constantly giving the team member a task to complete and them depending on the result you can take away the opportunity of developing more.

My impression of leadership is the ability to motivate, inspire, set a visualization, connect, and lead by example. To become a successful leader you have to be able to convince your followers that you are trustworthy of being followed. During this semester, we have learned many, if not all of the major leadership theories and how they play a role in our everyday lives. But personally, a few of these leadership models caught me and intrigued me the whole semester so much that this paper is going to predominately be referenced about them. For example, the proposed framework that organizes leadership theories based on each theory 's focus and approach. Focus is referred to as whether or not leadership is viewed as a set of traits or actions.
What is a leader? A leader is someone who takes command and leads an organization or group to success. Anyone can be a leader but in order to become a great leader you have to have to possess certain characteristics. I will be using Odysseus from the Odyssey isas an example of a leader who has suitable characteristics. You also have to know what harmful characteristics a leader may possess to determine if they are good leaders or not.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Firstly, what are the traits that help define this style of leadership? Democratic leadership as defined by Brookfield (2010) is more a function as opposed to rule by supremacy. The author argues that fundamental to this style of leadership is the understanding that all those under its control can in a fact take on the role of leader. Further to this the author adds that all participants have the right to offer ideas and concerns that may help resolve or influence outcomes. It is these very beliefs about the potential of all to lead and exercise their opinion that is indicative of the democratic philosophy. To elaborate further on democratic leadership, Page and Ferguson (2011) offers the view that a successful leader is the catalyst that enables a harmonious relationship, not only between the staff, but also with the company itself. This same leadership, as stressed by the authors, avoids dictatorship, but at the same time is mindful not to fall victim to a laissez-faire style of leadership.
For the course project that my team selected, the best leadership style to effectively direct the project is the participatory style. This style of leadership promotes the input of team members, however, it is the participatory leader who makes the final decisions. This style makes people feel that their opinions are important. Therefore, contributions tend to be of high quality. In the project that my team selected, the commitment to the objectives is encouraged, the collaborators provide assistance to develop and complete the project. They also provide information, as necessary, to ensure that the project stays on track and meets expected and deliverable objectives.
