Recommended: Essay on the attributes of a leader
Every leader had to start somewhere; they all had to have a reason to become a great leader. They have developed strong attributes to overcome their struggles and challenges. Great leaders like Harriet Tubman and Emily Murphy, who have had the courage to take action in the world and have had great confidence to achieve their goals. They are among the people, who through centuries have made a difference. Who have fought for their rights and surpassed difficult obstacles in their lives to complete their goals; taking leadership and making a difference in the world as well as overcoming challenges others could not.
LEADERS
So what is a leader? What does it take to become a great leader?
Everyone has their own ideas of what a leader is, what they might look like, act like or maybe what their accomplishments were. They, who are the leaders are the ones who have made a changed in the world and have shown people how true leaders are recognized as. They may have made mistakes in life, but they each take leadership and they each are unique, having their own personalities and an individual quality that makes them a true leader. A leader can portray attributes like courage: having bravery and overcoming fears, confidence: to believe in oneself, and action: to be able to accomplish amazing deeds for the benefit of family, friends and others.
“Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.”
Courage is known to many as bravery, loyalty and to be able to be fearless. Many leaders have developed this attribute and it’s one of the many things that help great leaders overcome their fears. Showing courage is when someone has the ability to demonstrate their skills; to stand up and to let their voices...

“Courage - a perfect sensibility of the measure of danger, and a mental willingness to endure it.” Courageous people understand the danger that they face when they act how they do. That is what courage is all about. Many historical events occur due to people having the courage to do what they think is right, or because of those who use their courage to do what they want. Having the courage to stand alone in one’s beliefs may be one of the hardest thing a person can do.
Throughout history, there have been great leaders, some for the good of humanity, and some for the not-so good of humanity. The one element all leaders have in common is in some way, have changed the course of history. The one great leader I have found to be interesting and envision of a great leader is William Bradford, an original passenger on the Mayflower, and the first ever governor elected on what is to become, American Soil.
Leaders, an individual that people look up to for direction, inspiration, and guidance in life. Passion, influential, reliability, a vision, etc. These traits along with many more, are the things that make leaders great and successful. Everyone has different personality traits that make us capable of being leaders in this world and I learned that throughout this course. Everyone is different, whether good or bad, ethical or unethical, everyone has a leadership style all their own. “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader (John Quincy Adams).”
A leader is a person that commands attention. The leader brings an ambience to the room. When a leader makes decisions, they have to be conscious about how they approach it. If you are considered being a leader, then people see something in you that no one else sees in you. As a leader, you have to consider the decisions that you make and that includes being ethical right. Leader should be prime examples for future leaders and show them the standards they have to uphold as leaders. The choice to make sure that you are not just making the right decision for yourself and others is a task. A person can only be a leader if they know how to be a leader. A leader is not for everyone and to be considering for the role you have to show that you are ready to the best. The role of leader does not limit themselves to what they do and how they do things. If you want to be a good leader, then look at leaders who represent good qualities. As a leader, you want to follow a person who does well and looks out for the good of people.
A leader is an individual who leads or guides others or who is in charge or command of others. A leader has to have specific traits that make a good leader. These include respect, optimism, praises others and gives credit, and completes the tasks given to them, etc. I believe a great leader is Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The world needs leaders because leaders instal structure. There are qualities that make a person a good leader. In the Lord of the Flies by William Golding, one of the main characters steps up to be the chief of the group of kids that he crash landed with on a deserted island. He is handed the responsibility of keeping these children alive and trying to get on the island. A leader is someone who ensures structure and someone others look up to. Leaders must show initiative, authority, and must be persistent.
“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’” –Mary Anne Rudmacher
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
To classify someone as a great leader one needs to evaluate accomplishments, goals, and personal characteristics. Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States of America and a great leader in the eyes of his people. Throughout the novel the author mentioned some characteristics that president Lincoln exemplified as a leader and commander of the United States. Nevertheless president Lincoln was an amazing leader to his fellow country men, the following aspects results orientation, integrity, and a concerned leader are what made him a great leader.
When you hear the word leader, who do you think of? The first person that comes to my mind is Abraham Lincoln. During Lincoln’s lifetime, he had many charismas that most people during his era lacked. For example, he listened to every point of view before making a decision, he spoke in a persuasive way that encouraged people, and he was a great leader. These are some of the many aspects that Lincoln excelled in. He became the 16th president of the United States at the midst of the Civil War and during those hard times, the citizens of the Union (United States) needed a leader who was willing to stand up with them. Lincoln did not hesitate to step in. He was a commander in chief and made the people stronger mentally when they were feeling weak
To be a leader you need to be able to inspire others, get people motivated, and set an example to other people. A leader needs to do all of these because if one of these aspects fails people don’t look at the leader...

What is leadership? Leadership is defined as a process by which a individual will influence others to obtain goals. Leaders will guide, direct motivate, or inspire others. Leadership is defined by not only traits but actions as well. Leaders are inspirational, trustworthy and charismatic. Many people may think a manger is leader. Although leadership and management go hand in hand, they are not the same. Everyone has their own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have. To me, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and having a vision are few characteristics of becoming an effective leader. A leader is not only born, but made. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.
Leadership has a different meaning for everyone. The ability to motivate, set good examples, and persevere through adversity are all parts of leadership. Some people may think that being a leader is only for a select amount people. I see leadership differently. I think everyone is capable of being a leader. There are also various ways that an individual can practice leadership. Obvious examples are the ability to speak, ability to motivate, and the ability to be a good role model. I see the ability of being a good role model and having good character as the foundation of leadership. My reasoning behind this is everyone is a leader or role model in my mind. Everyone influences a certain amount of people whether it’s one person or millions
The definition of courage, is to have the ability to do something that frightens one like standing up here in front of all of you. There are many leaders that has to have the courage to stand up to be the leader of a country. True courage is when a person can stand up to someone or something, even when nobody is willing to. The way people display courage as is how to ask a girl out, or how to stand to a monster with a sword. False ways that people measure courage is by popularity, how many followers on "instagram", or how how many subscribers you have on your youtube channel if you have one.
