A leader is an individual who leads or guides others or who is in charge or command of others. A leader has to have specific traits that make a good leader. These include respect, optimism, praises others and gives credit, and completes the tasks given to them, etc. I believe a great leader is Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Franklin D. Roosevelt was an American statesmen and a political leader who helped during the Great Depression. When FDR was 29, he was affected with polio and was paralyzed in both of his legs. Even with polio, FDR became president in 1933. He was the only president elected four times. He died during his fourth term. Franklin D. Roosevelt led America into World War II which allowed America to rise in power. I believe Franklin
When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt assumed the Presidency on March 4, 1933, he gained leadership of a deeply isolationist country struggling to survive a depression and yearning for change. When Roosevelt died twelve years and one month later, he had lifted the United States to world power status, provided recovery from economic depression, incorporated rhetoric as a means to reach the masses, and expanded the powers of the Presidency. In short, FDR had created the Modern Presidency. Through his New Deal Programs, his ability to increase the United States’ worldwide influence, his Fireside Chats, and his expansion of Presidential powers, Roosevelt became the first Modern President and established the precedent all future presidents were to follow.
Roy Jenkins, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, provides a brief overlook of Roosevelt’s life. As a foreigner, Jenkins is able to view Franklin’s accomplishments and failures from a rational view point. “A whole generation of Americans had grown up knowing no other president. He was a presence in their living rooms, he had called them my friends, and he had been at the helm of the two worst crisis of the century.” (“FDR”) The people loved his optimism and his sympathy with the less fortunate. (Perkins, 7) He was the people’s champion and they elected him to office four consecutive times. (Schlesinger, Time) President Roosevelt rescued America during the hardship that was the great depression. His decision to enter World War II played a substantial role in defeating fascism. Roosevelt believed in a multilateral effort in ending conflicts around the world. Franklin D. Roosevelt left an indelible mark of progress on American history.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was a man of unusual charm and great optimism, which he was able to communicate to others. He had a broad smile and was a charismatic optimist whose confidence helped sustain the nation through its darkest moments during crisis like the Great Depression and World War II. He became one of the most beloved of U.S. presidents for four terms in office. But beneath his outward friendliness was an inner reserve and an iron will. His admirers emphasized the way in which he met the nation's problems. They praised him for insisting that the federal government must help the underprivileged and that the United States must share in the responsibility for preserving world peace. Franklin Roosevelt made a profound and very important impact upon his times and his policies exerted great influence on the future (Freidel).
Roosevelt was president for four terms from 1933 until his death on April 12, 1945. To me President Roosevelt was a big inspiration based on the fact that he may not have been a success in all of his ventures, he continued on, he did not allow his paralysis from polio prevent him from walking even if it was just briefly. Roosevelt was a proud man and did not want Americans to think he was helpless. Roosevelt even designed his own wheelchair out of a desk chair and bicycle tires. President Roosevelt dealt with a lot throughout his presidency and showed strong character.
In 1933 FDR was elected President Of The United States. One unique thing about Roosevelt is that he was the only president to be elected 3 times. He ran against Herbert Hoover who was elected the 31st president 4 years before FDR’s term and,was running again for a second term. During FDR’s presidency he led the country through WWII and The Great Depression.

Though FDR faced hardships along the way such as his contraction of polio in 1921, his driven nature propelled him forward making him the only president to serve four terms in office. At this time, the United States was hurting badly from a depression, soon called the Great Depression, and yearning out for a new leader who would help them. Roosevelt, also known as FDR, proved to the country that he was the right guy for the job with some of the most famous words ever said; "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" (Franklin). Everyone in the U.S. stood behind Roosevelt through the Great Depression and even through World War II and until his death. Roosevelt proved to the nation that he was a courageous and brave leader that would help the country out, no matter what the consequence, even his own death.
Franklin D. Roosevelt political career is a paradox. Although he was conservative in outlook and character, he never feared change or trial and error. He was genuinely committed to certain moral principles and yet was the most pragmatic of leaders. He was born on a country estate and raised in affluent surroundings; he was loved by the common people like no other president in modern times. He was a democracy aristocrat, he was self-confident, but at the same time, he sought to avoid unpleasant personal confrontations. Many people could not understand his character because he projected exceptional warmth and on the other hand he possessed a remote quality. In my opinion, he was a very complicated human being. He did not achieve all of his goals,
