Leadership has many definitions and even has become a philosophical question. In today 's world, there are many leadership styles that correspond to people 's personalities and the way they facilitate groups. In its simplest point, a leader is someone who leads. A wise professor once said, "That if you are leading and no one is following you, you are just taking a walk". One of the greatest challenges that leaders face are people. It 's in these interviews I was able to see the differences of how they dealt with people. I interviewed Larissa Cadahia who is a store manager of a Dunkin ' Donuts in Tewksbury Massachusetts. Larissa became a store manager in January, but she has been working for the same Dunkin ' Donuts branch for about a year …show more content…

From my experience with working with her and seeing her move up, I saw that she was a very hard worker. This attitude of a hard work ethic really reflects in her leadership style. When asked about her leads her employees, she said "I lead by example. It 's very hard to stay still when there is the possibility of my employees slacking off. He became a bishop six years ago and he is in charge of the logistics of the church and of a non-profit organization called "Love and Life Connections". Love and Life connections is a nonprofit organization that reaches out to help people in the community that are struggling with addiction, homelessness, and abuse. The nonprofit is about three years old and so far is operating as a restaurant-style soup kitchen. From being under Vincent, I learned many things about leading humbly but stern. When I asked about his journey of how he got to this position, he said: "I 'm here by God 's grace, in a position I feel that I don 't deserve or am qualified for, but God called me and I responded." Vicente is a very hard worker and never takes credit for anything. When I was reading Good to Great and had reached the chapter that talked about level five leaders, Vincent was the first person who came to mind. When asked what a leader is, he said "A leader is someone who works beside others, brings people together, then when the job is done, disappear and make way for God to be glorified. His leadership style is a hermit because he is a very quiet man, but when he speaks, it means something. He is also a visionary and is planning for church growth. He said that he learned that a complacent church is a dead one. That 's how the church started Love and Life connections. There was a
“In the skills approach we shift our thinking from a focus on personality characteristics, which usually are viewed as innate and largely fixed, to an emphasis on skills and abilities that can be learned and developed” (Northouse, 2016, p.43). Vida definitely possesses the abilities and skills of the skills approach that empower her to be the effective leader she is today. According to Robert Katz, the author of the classic article “Skills of an Effective Administrator,” which was published in the Harvard Business Review, there are three basic personal skills that every leader should have: technical, human, and conceptual.
Cesario Estrada Chavez, or Cesar Chavez, as he is more commonly known, was an American farm worker, community organizer, and civil rights leader who co-founded the National United Farm Workers Association in 1962. His accomplishments as a leader have been chronicled in numerous literary works and have upheld him as one of the most recognized Mexican-American leaders of the last century. In this piece, I aim to analyze Cesar Chavez's leadership style by looking at his accomplishments as a leader, and explore some of his many enduring contributions to society. I will use Peter Northouse’s book, Introduction to Leadership, to help examine Cesar Chavez’s approach to leadership.
While comparing her time, theology and spiritual practice we realize she lived during the time of immense change, similarly we are living on the edge of a challenged modernity. Her spiritual direction allows us to recognize and develop further abilities in our pastoral ministries of caring for one another as participants within the corporate communities as well as within the mission fields.
He loves being able to celebrate mass everyday and “enrich his relationship with the Lord.” He is able to use his gifts to walk with many in the community through hard times such as parents who loose their children or vice versa. With God’s guidance he can bring them to a place of understanding and peace. This past Holy week he was given the opportunity to give the homily for the Youth Rally mass. Being able to preach and exhibit a faithful fatherhood to over thirteen hundred youths was immensely exciting. He was luckily given the chance to expand his wings and further his call to not only priesthood, but
In my own experience leadership is not just about one person telling others what to do; it’s about more than just giving orders. It is about getting a group of people to work together towards a common goal with more than just the goal in mind. It is also not just about setting goals for the group but also setting personal goals for the individual, guiding and supporting them all
Leadership is a complex idea that is often is hard to define. Everyone seems to have different characteristics that they feel contribute to a good leader. Even though there is no straightforward definition of leadership, there are still certain personality traits, behaviors, skills, and motivators that people admire in a leader. The best example to show how leaders utilize these characteristics is to examine a prominent figure in pop culture, such as Beyoncé. Her life is transparent enough that we can analyze her leadership skills, and how they change in any given situation. Beyoncé’s impact as a leader will be analyzed in three different categories.

Leaders have a responsibility to ensure that the organization is running effectively. In addition, the decisions that are made should be in the best interest of the organization, therefore, the leader should ensure that the decisions are moving the organization closer to its vision. According to Manning and Curtis (2015), there are 10 qualities that influence the leadership process: Vision, Ability, Enthusiasm, Stability, Concern for others, Self-confidence, Persistence, Vitality, Charisma, and Integrity. Leaders have to consider these 10 qualities when making effective decisions about the organization. Conversely, when these qualities do not influence the decision-making process for leaders, the organizational leader is not possessing
1. Purpose. Leaders come in different measures for they have varying qualities or traits that may consist of being responsible if it sometimes means pissing people off; not being afraid to challenge the pros, even in their own backyard; or not knowing what they can get away with until they try. Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
I like the fact that the teacher pointed out that leadership can be found everywhere. Leaders don't necessarily exist only in a company where there are a lot of people following you. “Everyone has the potential and possibility to be a leader”. They could be the best at inspiring others, or best at solving problems or dealing with criticism. By and large we all have the necessities to lead and I find, during the group discussions, that the difference and uniqueness of us that give us our own perspective to view and do things. Leadership is also about understanding and combining many different talents and to make them work together to create the best result. There are many kinds of leaders out there, and so many leadership styles. Yet I think we shouldn’t categorised ourselves into one or identify our superiors into one. Why? Because I think it is crucial to be flexible and adapt to which way to lead according to the situations For example, the Democratic style maybe the most popular and most effective, yet it is proved to be counter-productive in urgent occasions requiring instant and firm decisions from one person only, and that is the
A society with the absence of leadership will lead to chaos. Recently, the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat died and this has caused his followers to be in disarray. Currently in Palestine the followers are trying to ameliorate life and figure who will replace Arafat. For when there is an absence of leadership it causes followers to panic. The panic of the people leads to the confusion of their everyday life. Leadership implies that a person must posses certain qualities. There are many traits that must be shown to be a good leader. If a leader is noncommittal and callow then a society will fail. However when trying to restore order in a society one person may try to accomplish it by themselves but this rarely works. When working alone or in a small group, three things can happen and lead to more disarray. These things are isolation, too much authority, and control.
Leadership may be defined as a position of power held by an individual in a group, which provides him with an opportunity to exercise interpersonal influence on the group members for miobilising and directing their efforts towards certain goals. Leadership is the ability of a manager to induce the subordinates to work with confidence, determination, courage and zeal. It is also defined as ability to influence a group towards the realization of a goal. Leaders should have the capability of developing future visions, and to drive the organizational members to want to attain the visions. This paper states my points in which I duly believe, justifies the importance of an outstanding leader in any organization.
Education is a very important aspect in the life of a child. The level of success a student has in the classroom is greatly influenced by their teachers. Students, as well as their parents, depend on the teachers to guide them through their education. But who guides a teacher to perform successfully in the classroom? Principals and teachers play an important role in schools. A good relationship among school leaders and teachers is necessary and play an important role in making improvements in the school.
