It is clear to us that Boone did in fact face a challenge that he overcame. He wanted to be accepted by the community by proving that he was a valued member of it, a valuable football coach. In order to do this he had to prove that he could coach The Titans through all of their games, this required team unity. He gained the respect and acceptance of the football players in order to encourage their unity. He knew that only through their unity could they succeed. It is not the mere challenge that Boone faced that gained merit; it was what he succeeded in doing that was the real important achievement, succeeding to prove to the community that they could indeed be united.

According to Antonakis (2004), “leadership researchers have struggled for most of the last century to put together an integrated, theoretically cohesive view of the nature of leadership, invariably leading to disappointment in those who studied it” (p.4). An overview of the history of leadership is necessary to understand the concept of leadership because it also provides a framework for other areas of leadership. In any conventional group, individuals fill different role and one of those roles must the leader which is essential for the group to achieve it purposes.
In conclusion, leadership is need every single day. Without this, there is no use and we would be nothing in this world. What would we do without leadership? I hope that in our future, we have powerful leaders, who will guide us in our daily lives. We need them to help this world. Especially, under the conditions that we are going through in our lives each day. If we don’t have leaders, then we are nothing in this world.
An example is when Stanley led Zero and himself to the top of the mountain safely. For instance, on page 164, it states, “Stanley saw a rut, about a foot wide and six inches deep, running down a cliff. On either side of the rut were a series of ledges. ‘Let’s try there,’ he said”. This explains that Stanley acted like a leader found a place to rest. Another example is when Zero leaded Stanley back to the camp to find the treasure. Also, on page 196, it states, “We need to go this way,’ Zero said, first drawing a line on the map and then heading that way himself. Stanley followed”. This shows that Zero led them back to the camp. Lastly, X-Ray was the leader of the group of boys in the camp. In addition, on page 52, it states, “Stanley wasn’t sure what to say. X-Ray was clearly the leader of the group, and Stanley didn’t want to get on his bad side”. This proves that X-Ray was the leader of all the boys in the group. Leadership was also an important theme because without it Stanley and Zero would not find the treasure and gain confidence.
