During this episode of Suits, Daniel Hardman has returned back to the firm and has now been elected as managing partner of Pearson Hardman through a vote with the senior partners. Louis has teamed up with Daniel against Jessica and Harvey and in turn is made a senior partner by Daniel. That means that he now has a higher position in the firm than Harvey and is therefore allowed to delegate duties and work to him. Due to past history, there is unresolved tension between Jessica and Harvey with Daniel. Daniel therefore tries to formulate ways to get rid of the two. This was just due to the high amount of stress they were both under so they ended up fighting over something meaningless which resulted in Harvey sending Mike home. Mike however did not return to work the next day. Harvey then decided to visit Mike and the two had talked out their problems and they realised that they were just both under a great deal of stress. The most evident of these topics in the series being conflict management which is seen as there is often conflict and tension between certain co-workers, professionalism and ethics which is when certain employees and partners contravene these professional and ethical principles as well as management and leadership which is seen through the various different managing and leading techniques used by the partners of the firm in running their subordinates. Throughout our business studies syllabus we learn how to deal with each of the following issues and what would be the most effective thing to do in each situation. Therefore the content in this series has been extremely relevant to what we have been learning and I would definitely recommend any matric doing business studies to watch it in order to gain a better understanding of how to apply what we have learnt and that our syllabus can be of great use in the business

General education high school teacher, Michael Withers, failed to comply with his student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). D.D. Doe’s IEP required tests to be read orally. Despite knowledge of this IEP and being instructed to follow the IEP by the superintendent, school principal, special education director, and special education teacher, Withers still refused to make the accommodations for D.D.’s handicapping condition. As a result, D.D. failed the history class. His parents filed charges against Withers, arguing that D.D was not afforded the right to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) promised to all students by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). They also filed a claim for injuctive relief against the Taylor County Board of Education to enforce the laws that protect handicapped students.
In November 2004, Scott Peterson was found guilty and charged with two counts of murder for the death of his 8-month pregnant wife Laci Peterson, and prenatal son Conner Peterson. It was not until one month later, the jury had recommended Scott Peterson to be sentenced to death by lethal injection. Secondly, it is natural that a variety of feelings a worker can experience, during a crisis situation, but from this course, I learned that how to respond and manage them in a positive manner. Sophocles’ Antigone is a Greek tragedy that portrays a conflict between two ancient Greek values. Creon, the king of Thebes, touts the importance of loyalty towards the state, and Antigone, his niece, shows the willingness to sacrifice her life for the ultimate purpose of shining light on the importance of loyalty to one’s family. In Sophocles’ Antigone, Sophocles uses the clash between Creon’s value of loyalty to the state and Antigone’s value of loyalty to family in order to demonstrate not only the potential damage that could result from placing too high of an importance on loyalty to the city-state, but also the challenges involved with being a leader in ancient Greece.

My fundamental beliefs are that adults and children should have respect for one another treating people as individuals. I believe that we should model a sense of understanding, encouragement, trust, teamwork, and perseverance in all who we come in contact with. I believe that everyone has should have the opportunity to learn in a environment that is positive and encouraging. Recognizing my fundamental beliefs I know that in the Skinner-Rogers’ dichotomy that I fall on the Rogerian side of the scale. My beliefs are consistent with that of Rogers. I am also in favor of referent power and I would like to work with the students as an interactionalist. With all of these frameworks in mind I looked at a program that most fit my beliefs and frameworks. I believe that I can initiate the program of Glasser and use it effectively in my teaching situation. Many schools and programs regularly go through a process whereby they attempt to develop a new philosophical base and a different practical approach to working with students. Jones (1987) estimated that 80% of disruptive behavior is talking to each other, 15% out of seat, the remaining 5% is spent on note passing, playing with pencils or objects. The cost of student failure is absorbed. If we are losing 30 to 50% of our time keeping on task as a result of small disruptions, I would say to you that no other problem costs you 30 to 50% of your entire school budget. In keeping this in mind, I would propose that our middle school take a look at a program developed by Dr. William Glasser, M.D. His model is consistent with my own beliefs and would fulfill the vision that our school has developed. Integrated in Dr. Glasser’s model are Choice Theory (previously termed Control Theory), Reality Therapy, and the Quality School. Choice Therapy is an explanation of behavior, Reality Therapy is a process allowing Choice Therapy principles to be operationalized, and the Quality Schools represent the application of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy ideas in Education. William Glasser’s model involves the initiation of what he calls quality schools. Glasser (1992) contends that we must offer students an education that they can see will satisfy both their immediate and future needs. Managerial communication and skills is the subject that needs to be legitimately comprehended and consolidated into each organization. Dysfunctional conflict is what most people think of when they think of conflict, and it is destructive. It is more of a personal kind of conflict that nothing good can come from. On the other hand, functional conflict can be a good thing. Functional conflict is where two or more people disagree about something, but they work to achieve a solution to the disagreement. This kind of conflict can actually be good because it gets people to discuss the different ideas to achieve something everybody agrees on which is usually best solution.
