Choices: (Social, Economic, or Political)
I think the number one cost of the American civil war was social because first off there was a lot of people dying in the war, over 600,000 Americans died in the civil war. The second cost of the American Civil war is political because the North and the South were divided. The south did not want to abolish slavery but the north did. There were two nations: Union and Liberty, and Union and Slavery. Abraham Lincoln who was running for president during the war wanted to end slavery but there was always disagreements. The third cost of the American Civil war is economic because it affected everyone and their life. The economy was bad because of the war will make reconstruction
The American Civil War was caused because of the North and South differences in economies, disagreements about abolishing slavery and whether the state or federal government had more power. These three factors played a key role in America's deadliest war. Understanding the causes of the Civil War is important because the war was one of the most important events in our nation's history. Another disadvantage of the South during the Civil War was Jefferson Davis’s lack of concern for the South’s civilians. Davis was primarily concerned with military duties during the war and focused little on the morale of the South’s civilians. As a result of his inattention to the public, the Confederacy’s economy began to collapse during the Civil War. Inflation soared due to the South’s effort to try and finance the war effort. Davis’s unconcern with the morale of the South’s civilians complicated the war effort for the Confederacy. This civilian dissent drew attention away from the war and forced Southern leaders to focus on other concerns such as the costs of war (Hewitt and Lawson 403-410).
The reconstruction of the south after the Civil War was one of the biggest struggles of nation because of the turmoil and dramatic change in the country. The South was faced with the issue of black citizens and that they will have equal rights that the whites have. Additionally, the emancipation of slaves caused many riots and conflicts because the white citizens did not approve of the fact that their society is integrated. The biggest issue that the South faced was trying to incorporate the newly freed slaves into the society because they are uneducated and are unable to sustain themselves economically. The death of Abe Lincoln proved harmful to the nation because the Congress and Johnson were not able to agree on a reconstruction plan and they had different opinions.
The Civil War was a hard fought battle between the North and the South. The Civil War was caused by four main things: sectionalism, lifestyle differences, secession, and slavery (Wise). Slavery was the ultimate cause of the Civil War. The different leaders from the North and South had a large impact on what happened during the Civil War and how the battles were fought. The battles of the Civil War brought turning points and tragic moments in American History. In the end the North won and took control of the country and tried to bring it back together as quickly as possible. The Reconstruction Era after the war lasted for 12 years as the Presidents tried to reunite the split country (Reconstruction). The Civil War was a long hard fought war that ultimately changed the U.S. forever.
“We all fight on two fronts, the one facing the enemy, the other facing what we do to the enemy” (Boyden 199).
Following the American Civil War, the whole nation was forever changed and was the result of many good and bad things. Although it was a very costly war and was So, the Civil War did define us and made us the good and the bad things we are and led to an extremely significant change because slavery was abolished once and for all and African American rights followed many years later, the Federal Government imposed more power over the states, our country was divided for a while, and it left the nation in debt due to the fact that we fought each other.
Conflict theory is an imperative hypothetical custom inside the field of human science. It attests that specific sections of society benefit lopsidedly from set up social and financial plans, which drives them to utilize the state 's coercive constrain in keeping up that disparity. Despite the fact that this origination of force and disservice was initially an absolutely financial viewpoint, racial and ethnic personalities have turned into a necessary piece of conflict theory speculations as they are characterized and examined today.
Competing is assertive and uncooperative which is the “win-lose” approach. In competing, people pursues his or her own concerns at the other person’s expense, they act in a very assertive way to achieve the goals and without seeking to cooperate with the other party (Thomas and Kilmann 2001). In this power-oriented mode, people tend to monopolising, not listening, attacking, exaggerating, and pushing for what they want as well as using whatever power seems appropriate to win their position. People in competing also standing up for their rights, defending a position they believe is correct, and fighting their corner for their teams needs(Meier 2011). It may be seen as insensitive to others and selfish and their behaviour may seem to undermine trust and goodwill.

The Civil War was a time of great tension and political disunion in American history. It is said that almost 620,000 soldiers died from fighting, starvation and harsh climates. There are many advantages and disadvantages that the north and south each had that helped and hurt them as well. The North had more than half of the rail lines going through the nation, which allowed for easy access for transportation of goods and supplies. They had plenty of citizens to grow crops and send supplies to the soldiers, and they also had a large navy which gave them an advantage on the water. On the other hand, they had to travel thousands of miles to march to push the south back into union territory while fighting in unfamiliar territory. The South’s advantages
Conflict would occur when “disagreement exists” within an organisation over different issues (French, 2011). These issues can be associated with power; “the potential ability to influence behaviour” (Pfeffer, 1992 p. 713: cited in Martin, 2005).

“To live anyhow is better than not at all” (Chekhov 1) , the short story, The Bet commenced with the conflict when the person had no choice but to choose between the death penalty or life in prison.
