Teachers who participated in the research believe that affective education plays an important role in English teaching, especially after reform in college English book, which represents complicated contents, so many students had trouble adapting the new textbook. At same time, some of students had anxiety disorder even gave up the subject. And as we all know, their English performance and level of ability are usually poor, and they ignored culture knowledge for a long time for various reasons. There are some interruptions of developing affective education. It takes time and lots of efforts to build up it, so teachers have great stress from work. At present, teachers in the universities undertake the responsibility of both the teaching work and research work, so teachers have troubles in organizing and carrying out affective education.[15] At same time, they need to communicate with students by using rest time while they are tired and exhausted after daily work. Due to the some limitations of teaching conditions, it is hard to develop affective education, for example, when the course involves a wide range of contents, teachers should impart knowledge as much as possible in limited time. Therefore, teachers may abandon affective education to follow the traditional teaching methods for various reasons. In addition, there is no uniform pattern and standard of affective education, which teachers can follow it. Thus, teachers should develop affective education depending on characteristics and realities of English …show more content…

To understand what empathic attunement is it is also important to understand what empathy is. Empathy is the ability to place oneself in another persons shoes and see the world through the others persons eyes without judgement or criticism ( Goldstein, 2007). By having the ability to experience how it is for another person you can begin to understand how this person views the world they live in. It is important to remember that many clients present for therapy with a sense of vulnerability. They may have difficulty expressing their experiences and it is the therapists role to sense more and gain an understanding of what they are saying. E.g “Behind your words I am hearing you say that your sacred”. Empathy can help
Adoration of God; solidarity with a definitive; turning into one with the universe; concordance of body, psyche, soul, and nature; these expressions point to the key objectives of the significant religious customs. The objectives mentioned speak to wellbeing in the most important sense (Meier, O 'Connor & VanKatwyk, 2005). They can be accomplished through a relationship between the broad sense of being of the individual and the group. Religious groups perceive human enduring, disorder, and social unfairness as issues identified with human detachment from an extreme reality and disharmony in the middle of self and world. Cures may include religiously based treatment practices, reflection, a request to God, physical controls like hatha yoga,
In order to collect the data a standardized questionnaire was distributed. The instrument distributed among the students is known as “Emotional Competence Framework”
Emotion and cognition are intricately intertwined and hard to tell which is influencing us in our everyday lives. While the former are sometimes referred to as feelings and affects (this term would be used interchangeably with emotion in this article) or “hot cognition”, the latter is often thought as our reasoning, or “cold cognition” (Zajonc, 1980). However, it is quite evident from our day-to-day account of events that it’s always the emotional parts of life that catch our attention - especially the bad ones. For one thing, as a general phenomenon, bad news is considered more newsworthy and can easily attract more reader attention (Baumeister,
The ideas of this article intrigued me because of the information presented in the beginning paragraphs. This article elaborates upon how important the ability of being able to distinguish between positive and negative emotions is. Through the faces presented in the start of the article, I learned that affective development “generally precedes cognitive and behavioral development, as children experience emotions and react to them long before they are able to verbalize or cope. However, social and emotional competencies do not unfold automatically; rather they are strongly influenced by the child’s early learning environment” (Kramer, Caldarella, Christensen & Shatzer 2010). As an educator, I feel as though this is a pertinent piece of important information. Oftentimes students will view school as their safe-haven, and, with all the struggles that they are facing at home, emotions are let loose in the wrong ways. This social-emotional learning program reportedly help...
According to Krathwohl (1964) affective objectives are rarely inculcated in College Curricula due to the hesitancy of teachers to assign students grades for interest, attitude or character development. This he says are due to two factors which are; appraisal techniques which are inadequate and the fact that students easily exploit their ability to detect responses to be rewarded or
“You must put your emotions into your work” is a phrase often heard in life. It proposes that emotions, which are often ignored, are a key to success. This holds true in many regards, however there are times when emotion should be restricted in swaying one’s thoughts. The pursuit of knowledge is to be completely objective. Thus, although emotional intelligence is necessary, it is more of a hindrance than a help, and should be controlled.
Some researchers only want to use logic in all intelligences definitions. Some researchers are more involved in the role that emotions play in how we make our decisions on a daily basis. Daily use of emotions to solve problems is not studied enough. Mayer and Salovery feel strongly that their theory of emotional intelligence does not need to be the exclusive way of learning, but at the least included in the processes of learning and education. This paper will attempt to prove how important Emotional Intelligence and is an inseparable part of the process of learning. I will discuss
Teaching students a language that is foreign can really be challenging for students as well as for the teachers. The dynamic rule for implementing instructing in a diverse class to English-learners is to use resourceful life skills such as diligence, hard work and patience. There are also methods that are involved in teaching English as a second language that can be creative for the teacher, yet beneficial to the student. First building a strong foundation that is essential to English learners will promote the language acquisition process. To do this teacher’s should always start with preparation. Advance preparation is essential in order to provide necessary adaptations in content area instruction and to make content information accessible for second language lear...
School is an environment where children are intended to learn many interpersonal skills. Through emotional learning they develop self awareness, more specifically identifying and recognising emotions, strengths, needs and values, self-efficacy and spirituality. Students develop self management by controlling and managing stress, self motivating and developing organisational skills. They are also able to make decisions b...
The ability to experience and express emotions can be a long process. Everyone starts experiencing emotions pretty much from the day of birth; as a person grows up with their family every single day they become more experienced and have more emotions that can help create and form their lifestyle. The decisions a person makes is always influenced by the emotions they have at the current time and the emotions they have experienced before. Experiencing emotions are easier than expressing them. Emotions may be easier to express at a younger age, but as anyone grows older it becomes more difficult. Both experiencing and expressing emotions are different for everyone. The ability to express emotions can be influenced by a person 's culture, personality,
For some students, school is the only way of escaping their tragic home lives and interacting in a positive atmosphere. Teachers should always have a positive attitude because when they are in a pleasant state of mind, their students will usually be in a good mood as well. They must encourage and inspire students to
In most institutions of learning today, the classes are made up of students from different ethnic backgrounds. These have different traditions and also speak different languages. In a typical classroom, the majority of the students will speak the same language. The teacher must then employ strategies which will accommodate all the students in the class. This will ensure that every learner gets the best quality of education. This will enable them to be better prepared for career and expressing themselves. In this paper, strategies to assist learners of the English language in their literal development for third grade learners. In the paper, three strategies that can be used by the teacher will be discussed. New strategies and research that will help the English language learners to gain in depth mastery of the language will also be discussed. Due to the widespread learning of the English language in most schools, addressing issues of the language learners is of vital importance. Teachers should have the understanding that cultures are what give someone identity and therefore no student should leave their culture for another. Instead, there should be the blending of different cultures so that students can appreciate and learn from each other.
To become an affective teacher, I would began managing my class from the beginning of the school year by providing rules to the class that they must follow. When I give rules, students tend follow them every day, and count them as a usual duties they must do every day in my classroom. Rules build buildings build a city, a community, a country, therefore rules can build my class the way I want it to be built and raised. There will be punishments and there will be awarding to those who listen and to those who don’t, everything is managed. But, I see management differ from grade level to another, because, for example, the punishment for a kindergartner will differ from the punishment to an eighth grader. Also the class rules will differ as well from a low grade level to a higher grade level. The rules will be less strict and less worry for low grade level students, because they are little kids still they don’t understand very quickly. Therefore, low grade level teachers, I believe must have more patience than the high level grade teachers. The second most effective step to take in a classroom after making sure the class is managed carefully, is to become with great instructional methods. Some excellent instructional methods are the great and effective teacher lectures that are mostly used in the classroom, group and class discussions where each student expresses his or her thoughts and ideas, and some types of home or classwork like textbook assignments and reading assignments in
I believe that happiness is the key to living a good and prosperous life. Through all of the sadness and hate in the world, happiness gives me hope. It gives not only me, but others hope and joy. Happiness gives us something to hold onto, therefore we cherish it as much as we can.
