Traveling with a group can be both very fun and very frustrating all at the same time. People always ask me when I tell them about my travels if I went with anyone. People assume going in a group is the better option. I am going to be very honest in this post about my experiences with group travel. I have had some of the best times in my life because of group travel, but also been VERY frustrated. Frustration is inevitable with group travel, however, there are some things I found helpful in my travels over the summer that made group travel a lot less frustrating.
Travel in groups of FOUR or less.
At one point on my Europeane backpacking adventure, there were 8 of us all together. It became difficult to keep everyone on the same page and we had to

Having too many people with different priorities really makes it hard to do anything. You end up spending more time trying to compromise rather than just doing what you want and enjoying yourself. Sit down with your group each evening and voice your opinions. Find out what everyone wants to do, schedule to do certain activities that everyone wants together, and then leave ample time for free time for yourself.
Allow yourself solo time.
Take time during your trip to go explore by yourself or with a friend that wants to do the same things. You get sick of people fast when you 're traveling because of the close proximity at all hours of the day. You need time to yourself to refuel so you don 't go crazy.
It 's OK to not do everything together.
I have already hinted at this, but I want to make this VERY clear. If you don 't want to go to a particular place that everyone else wants to go to, DON 'T force yourself to go. You 'll inadvertently bring down the group and be miserable. Let your group know you aren 't interested and will meet up with them later.
If you plan on separating from your group, make sure you all decide on a meeting time and place and STICK TO
Groups can be defined as, any number of people with whom interact with each other, are psychologically aware of one an other and perceive themselves as a group. Effective groups are important as they endeavour to take care of each group member, get tasks done and strive to achieve their goals, whilst being stimulating, enjoyable and rewarding (Schein (1998), as cited in Fowler, Gudmundsson, & Whicker, 2011, p.16). Groups
...and show an open mind to everyone’s ideas. I’ve found that this makes for a lighter and more fun environment and we’ve shown success in completing our task. Most times I’m put into groups, I don’t know the other people very well. This is common at school with my classmates. I’m used to having no leader in the group and everyone fighting to have their ideas chosen. Once a leader was chosen in the group we started discussing openly everyone’s ideas with the chosen leader voicing their opinion on which idea to choose and why. Usually when it comes to my friends I take the leadership role and make an try to hear everyone’s opinion before making a decision. I believe that for a team to find success and reach their goal someone needs to take leadership and voice an unbiased opinion. The team needs to hear everyone’s ideas and choose one based on which will lead to success.
I am not known for traveling but my family and I go camping every summer. We like to go different places each summer. For example last year my family and I went to a campground
As I was working with my teams it was really important for me to adopt some strategies and use them accurately. I have actually done that. Hill, C (2007) said, “A group is an association of two or more individuals who have a shared sense of identity and who interact with each other in structured ways on the basis of a common set of expectations about each other’s behavior”(Hill, C, 2007, International Business, McGraw Hill/Irwin, New York, p-94). Thus my first strategy was we will discuss each of us points and everyone will take them accordingly. I thought that we have make things easier that’s why I arranged a lot of meetings. Moreover I was always connected via internet to...
Group dynamics shifted greatly from the start of the semester to the end of the semester. We started out as a room full of people who were for the most part uncomfortable with one another, to a group who supports and works well with each other. I remember
However, my friend and I were playing roles to break the ice between the team. After our first meeting outside of the classroom, I found out that my group was friendlier as we started getting more comfortable with our team members. The first issue we encountered was how we should communicate to do the work. I was the person who created a group on WhatsApp and Skype in order to make the group communication more effective. The second issue we faced as a group was that we seemed to be stuck in the brainstorming stage. I could say that we spent more than two weeks in that stage just because there were lot of disagreements between team members on how we should be conducting our project. Each one had different idea and point of view. But after numerous meetings, we were finally able to come up with a detailed plan on how we were going to conduct our project, and we specifically defined each other specific
How many of you like to travel? Do you travel alone or with group of people? How about go to another country alone? Could you ever imagine to take a plane and fly away somewhere by yourself? Some people get freaked out just mentioning this. They start thinking about all this horror stories of kidnapping, robbery, cheating. However, there is no guarantee that it is not going to happen if you are with your friend.
In most group settings, there are many different personalities working together and this can cause a great deal of conflicting positions on various issues being discussed during meetings. This can also influence the particular way that participants interact with each other during meetings. If group members can approach these meetings with an open mind and the concept that the greatest likelihood is that not everyone will share your opinion within the group. The larger the group, the greater the dispersion of ideas and this can cause the length of meetings to be extended in the effort to have all voices heard. If these meetings are approached with a plan to guide the discussions, meetings can stay more on track and allow the group to move on to new topics in a reasonable time frame and reach a consensus
As a Group of random selection, beginning off together was difficult for me because I didn’t know anyone and how everyone worked, as a group or individual and what their skills are, we had to work together to bond a relationship between everyone as a group. Beginning off wasn't simple, I quickly noticed our group was having trouble trying to all meet together, it made it difficult because people lived in different places, personally myself I live in Geelong and when I'm not at university, I'm working, our timetables were different, so we were all on campus at different times, we all had other commitments outside of university, which resulted in only being on campus when we had classes. During the time of preparation a few barriers arised, this set me
A huge misconception is that using a travel guide cost to much money, and researching activities and putting together an itinerary takes to much time, when in fact doing these few steps can save you money and time by knowing some of the in and outs of the place you are travelling to which makes for an overall better experience.
I’m tired, a little stressed and disappointed with some of the group members this week. This has been the most challenging time in group so far. Everything is usually fine, but something is off this week. Although, we have group chats, our group cohesion is off. After, deciding to do the outline one way, we ended up doing it another way. That was cool until individuals brought the confusion. One person thought this way, the other thought that way. It was a mess. Our group dynamics were all over the place. The impact this had on me was very negative. With your help Mrs. Evans, we eventually decided to keep the outline simple. The other group members picked their duties, while mine were assigned to me. It did not bother me that I was assigned duties. Actually, my absence from the meeting helped to decide what I was to do. When it comes to the norming and forming of this group, I find myself at a loss for words. The norming process is off. There is less cohesion than usual; we have not been as effect this week. Also, relationships do not seem to be strengthening. This makes me angry because it affects us all. Unlike the norming stage, the forming stage is pretty solid. All of us are comfortable (in my opinion) giving our opinions, and we understand what is required of us. There is no need to form rules they are already in place. In my opinion, some of the members did not follow the rules. I for one broke a rule.
I do not understand different group purposes nor am I able to design appropriate meeting processes accordingly. I think I need to research and observe how other meetings processes work. I only have experience working with the 4-H meeting process. I have ran meetings using this process but do not have the experience for a less formal process. I believe looking at how others run meetings will be helpful. Overall, each experience will enhance my
The last tip is simply have fun. If you’re going on a vacation, have as much fun as possible, take plenty of pictures, bring back souvenirs and postcards, but most importantly, don’t spend all of your money, as it is highly recommend that you save some left over. Anyways, have a good time on your vacation, and share your experience with friends and

There is nothing quite like traveling, going someplace new and finding out more about the world and yourself. Anyone can become a traveler it just takes a little bit of faith and courage. Traveling across the world or even across the country is a learning experience. When you are a traveler you see how people live and how different cultures work. It is the best educational experience you could give yourself. You see how the world works in a way no one can teach you. Seeing different cultures and people help build the person you want to be. If you are a traveler the world influences you, because when traveling, you see the good and the bad, and you learn from the right and the wrong. I am very lucky that I am able to be a traveler and see this
