Organization
Grades, Academic Maturity
Being on top of my schoolwork and asking my teachers for help has developed my organizational skills which has helped me to be a successful honors student. My teachers have given me guidelines and expectations that help me to perform at a higher level. With these guidelines I have adjusted to do my work well and also communicate with them when I have a problem. Doing all of this has helped me stay on top of my schoolwork and to be successful in all my classes.

During my high school season for tennis I have had a lot of different things to juggle. I would have to play and/or practice every day and still manage my schoolwork while maintaining my above average grades as well as

The curriculum at LNCHS is very challenging and my peers are all outstanding students. I have learned to work with my peers in group projects and have learned to accept people’s strengths and weaknesses to be successful in completing projects on time. As a tennis athlete I have had to learn to rely on my doubles partner in difficult matches. I have had several different doubles partners from year to year. I even had to adapt to a new doubles partner at the last minute at the conference tournament. I was very successful with my adaptability with this new partner as we made it to the semi-finals of the state championship. These life experiences have helped me to adapt to being a successful student …show more content…
When I want something done it will get done simply because I will not stop until I achieve my goal. In my sophomore year I was determined to reach the final in the individual state championship for school tennis. I fought so hard and I ended up making it to the championship match. I was so proud of myself simply because that was something that I really wanted to achieve and I never gave up.
I also had to play my own doubles partner in the final of every round. In conference I had to play her, in regionals, and in the state championship. Playing someone three times really showed me how to persevere through difficult matches. I am glad that I reached that final or my eyes would have not have been opened up to what I could really achieve. My determination will get me where I want to be in life and to be successful at whatever I do.
I am a runner. I was selected to be a cross country captain for my senior year and I had set myself a realistic goal of being one of the top five finishers at the state meet in the fall. I never had the thought that I could not do it; I knew I was going to be up there with the best. When the state meet came and I traveled with the team as captain, that race became one of the most memorable of my cross country career but not for the reasons I expected.
I had surgery to correct a vision problem, and ear tubes to help with ear infections. By intervening with these issues, contribute a lot to catching up with my peers. My parents, especially my mother, were deeply involved in helping me succeed. She attended meetings, keep informed on my progress, and most importantly was my biggest support system. Even from an early age, I knew how important parental involvement in education was. The fact that people cared about me succeeding, was all the motivation, I needed.
Looking back through my middle school and high school years, I see that I have matured a great amount. I see my current self as someone that treats others with respect, and who does not blurt out anything that comes to mind. I sadly cannot say that was always the case. Throughout high school, everyone changes at least a minimal amount, and sometimes you don’t even notice the changes. Maturity is something that happens naturally for most, and can happen in the matter of a summer break.
Encouragement plays a significant role in my success. Without encouragement, the achievement won't come true. Juliet Ferking, the author of "A Drive to Achieve the Extraordinary" from This I Believe: Life Lessons, tells her story about how she succeeds at things that normal people don't. No matter what people say, she achieved big things in her life. Her only encouragement are those who actually supported her (Ferking). My connection to Ferking's essay is that without the encouragement that my family and friends are giving me, I wouldn't have the motivation to pursue my degree to have a good career. Even if other people ridicule my choice of degree, I won't succumb to their words.
To me success is knowing that I didn't just meet my goal, I overachieved my goal. If I don't meet my goals, that's fine. All I need is to try my hardest and give it my all and I will be fulfilled. Reaching your goals is important but It is very necessary to sit down and think about other stuff like, what you value or what is important to you. The most important things to me is my family, friends, health and education. I also value achievement, adventure, happiness and knowledge. In total with your view of accomplishment and success in mind, you can succeed and reach your goals.
Determination is a quality that makes a person continue to try, to do, or to achieve something that is difficult. It is a person’s overall drive to never give up and continue striving towards a desired goal. If I was asked to describe myself in one word, I would choose determined. Throughout my life I have had many experiences where my determination has helped me fight through tough times. By having this quality it has helped me to win a girls bowling IHSA state title, be an all-state athlete, and also continue my goals for my education. Determination is important to me because I need it to achieve my goals and reach my highest potential. Determination starts with the decision to go for the goal and to make the commitment to attain the goal. Determination is also the continuous driving force to overcome the obstacles on the way to the destination. It focuses the mind on the end result. It strengthens the will to carry on, to arrive at the destination.
My entire life, I have strived to do well in everything I do. I have never wanted to settle for second best in the activities that I am interested in. Once I have a goal in my mind, I work until it is complete. I work to overcome the obstacles ahead of me. In school, I work towards perfect marks on everything from homework to tests.
In my life, I have learned a variety of different lessons whether it be through school, or home life. While in school, I always set my mind on the bigger goals, and pushed myself to do my absolute best. Through doing my best I learned that hard work and the right mindset can get you anywhere. My teachers and mentors, have always pushed me to think outside the box and push myself to try new things and explore new boundaries. In my classes I strive to make sure everything is turned in early and done to the best of my ability. While in high school I had the wonderful opportunities to be a part of different clubs and organizations that require different aspects of myself to be showcased. In Future Business Leaders of America, I learned leadership
Life is full of ups and downs, and sometimes it is hard to stay focused and motivated in achieving goals. Achieving goals means being motivated to push against all the odds no matter what the problem might be. Everyone is different in overcoming different obstacles in their life; some people might listen to a song, talk with a friend, or take a jog to get over something that has happened. I like to think of my favorite quote, and my favorite quote is Finish Strong. Finish Strong came from my softball coach my sophomore year. He read some great stories from the book. Those stories along with the quote stuck with me ever since. I like to think of my favorite quote because it is inspiring, meaningful, and successful.
My strong determination and tenacious will power are demonstrated on a daily basis. It is displayed in every aspect of my life. Strong determination is displayed in my school, in just the sole basis of me coming back to school and wanting to do better in my life. It’s also displayed in home life, in ways like creating the best possible environment for me along with my family.
By being in college, the main goal is to graduate, so determination in this case helps students work their way through college and be successful in
One of the lessons I have learned from the last four years is organization. Organization is a good quality to have when it comes to school work. There will be days where you’ll shove papers into your bookbag in a hurry but it is always best to go back and organize all papers. Somedays I would lose many papers because I shoved them in my bag. This has caused me to stress over papers I could not find in order to turn in and that affected my grades. In my first year of high school it was very difficult to stay organized but I was able to complete the year organized. It wasn’t till the second half of my sophomore year that I started to lose the structure in my school work. Having good organization is not just having your supplies organized it having yourself together. Being organized will make you feel prepared for your classes and you feel like you have everything in
But determination does not mean to try for a bit and then just give, it means to keep trying until you accomplish your goal. For example, Carey M. Thomas worked very hard to create a fantastic college. First of all, she worked very hard to pass tests, however she failed MANY of them, but she did not give. She kept trying until she finally passed, and not only did she pass, but she got high score! After years of hard work she became a dean of college.
My senior year of high school I decided to dedicate my self to school work. All I did was take school a little more seriously and pay attention. Before you know it I had made the honor roll for the first time and continue to make it the rest of the year. Finally the extra work was reflecting in my grades. My parents were glad to see that my education had some meaning.
I was able to overcome many problems and challenge myself in different aspects. At the very beginning of the year, I was very sensitive and having a bad experience meant a bad life to me. Later on, I started to realize what I am doing in school, and why I am here… I understood that life without ups and downs means you're died.
