Abs and Running
From daily joggers to athletes of every level the core muscle is a foundation to a strong running stride. From warriors to athletes, people have been pursuing a stronger body to meet their physical needs. The development of the human body core muscles “abs” take more than just running and cardio to develop a strong and lean core. According to the Runners Guide to Fabulous Abs, by Pacific Health Laboratories, running is a great source of cardio, but running alone won’t accomplish the end goal of solid abs. Through the course of the article, Runners Guide to Fabulous Abs, covers a wide range of topic pertaining to exercises, dieting, simple meal replacements, and of course running.

Your core muscles are essential to your daily life and activity, they help with an assortment of daily activities. The Runners Guided states that people with lower fat content have a decrease in metabolic diseases like heart diseases; therefore, running and working out your core will helps burn excess fat which leads to a healthier life and a lower chance of developing diseases. The development of the core muscles is best done with targeted exercises unlike running which is a great cardio to burn fat, you also need to build muscle. Simply crunches won’t be enough to bring the six pack to the surface. Mixing in an assortment of workouts that target the core and lower back greatly increase the development of a strong core. Workouts such as planks, hip twists, supine running, an oblique bridge, target the central core and promote muscle to develop. I chose “Feed the Hungry 5K Run” for Leisure Personal #2 assignment on Thanksgiving at California State University, Sacramento. At first, my friend and I wanted to do “individuals” because it was cheaper than a team registration and we don’t have enough four members to form a team. Later, there was more friends to join in and we decided to form a team and came up with the team name “Hungry Runners” which fits the event purpose. After we registered and each member paid 55 dollars which would benefit families in need in Sacramento County, we could get a bid which would time our race and a shirt with our team name “Hungry Runners” on right sleeve. This was the first time that I have ever engaged in this type of activity and the goals were to donate and experience the event atmosphere.
What is Biomechanics? It is the study of forces and their effects on the living system (McGinnis, 2013). In this essay, I will be looking at the biomechanics of running. Running, as well as any other sport requires skills for which advancement is due to consistent deliberate practice and effective development. However, runners should establish a training system that actively builds their original running pattern instead of basing it on what works well for others. Understanding the biomechanics of running gives a better knowledge of their running techniques and points out areas of concerns that require improvement. Despite the fact that running is dependent on the interaction of the whole body, breaking down the running pace into single components allows us to further understand how minor changes can increase improve performance and decrease injury risk.
