Should Balloons Really Be Banned? Do people honestly want to ruin lives? Humans, all over the world today, argue whether or not balloons should be banned because apparently they are dangerous. No! Balloons should not be banned! Balloons brighten lives. According to “Balloons Bring Joy To Millions”, it states, “When balloons are properly handled, they are perfectly safe (Lewis 25).” I agree, balloons are plainly safe if handled correctly. Also, “Balloons bring people so much joy (Lewis 25).” I don’t know about you, but balloons lead to me being 3x happier. Lewis also comments, “ The real problem is plastic trash---things like bags and bottles (25).” Strangely enough, it is true. On the other hand, balloons do have an evil side. For example,
Using plastic bags were something everyone feels bad using. We use them everyday in some form or another, but we tend to forget the bad that they do. Plastic bags should not be used or allowed in the U.S because it tends to do more harm than good in our society or world.
She states, “After several high profile suffocation deaths of children, manufacturers worked together to create a public safety campaign staving off regulation and reducing accidents.”(Mangu-Ward,3).This is a good cause and effect relationship because the cause is clear, high profile suffocation killing children has led to the effect of a public safety campaign which in result, should reduce the high profile suffocation . Plastic bags causing the death of children is a very serious and attention grabbing matter. The fact that all that was done to try to solve this problem was a public safety campaign works against plastic bags. Since plastic bags can lead to a child suffocating themselves, to avoid the suffocation of their children, parents can be guilted into buying paper or reusable bags which leads to the unpopularity of plastic
Crickets, they are so noisy and quick they are pretty scary; but have you ever considered eating them. Even though crickets can come off as pretty disgusting they can be very nutritious for the students growth, and helpful for the environment. Now you might be saying why go through the trouble of making cricket meals or snacks, when you can get a lot tastier foods from the store. However crickets are very cheap and aren’t that hard to find at stores near you, this has been helping the switch for other schools a lot easier. We should think about adding crickets to school lunches to provide a healthier, cleaner, and cheaper community.
Dizon seriously notes, “By being super diligent in demanding information about chemicals in products such as toys, we can make better choices and lessen children’s exposure to toxic chemicals that can badly affect their health and development. Consumer vigilance can push toy companies to finally shape up and put the health interests
For many individuals, skateboarding is an exciting and fun activity to participate in. Both children and adults have incorporated the sport into their lives recreationally or as a serious lifetime occupation. There are many reasons to why skateboarding can be a positive and rewarding experience for just about anyone. However, there are many individuals that find the sport to be dangerous and argue for its ban with flimsy opinions. The city should not pass a ban against skateboarders on all public property as there is no concrete argument on why their activities are harmful to such an extent; banning the sport would not only result in outrage from the abridgement of civil liberties and be an injustice to the diversity of our country, but force
Mothballs have many features that are beneficial to people. One feature of mothballs is keeping a house or building free of pest. Mothballs change from solids to gas at room temperature (Willert, n.d.). This gas is a toxic gas that kills moths and other insects (NPIC,2011). This toxic gas or fumes build up in a closed container and kills clothes moths inside. When enough fumes build up and moth or other insects digest the fumes the moths or other insects are then killed because the fumes are toxic (NPIC,2011). Mothballs also can cover up smells of other unpleasant smells from the fumes given off. Mothballs are a powerful deodorizer with fumes that kill insects, but these fumes can also be harmful to humans.
Using plastic bags are second nature to people in this day and age. Warner acknowledges, “Much to the dismay of the environmentally conscious citizens worldwide, the ubiquity of the free plastic carryout bag has bred nonchalant consumers who take this modern convenience for granted” (646). Although some people are conscious about the environment, people strive more for convenience and do not think about the impacts using bags have not only on the environment, but on themselves as well. If something is bad for the environment, it will alternatively be bad for humans as well. When plastic bags are exposed to the sun from being littered all around, the ultraviolet rays cause the substances of plastic bags to weaken. After the substances weaken, the substances become invisible to the naked eye. The substances that are no longer able to be seen are toxic to humans (Warner 649). As a result of plastic bags being littered around, animals consume plastic bags. This is negatively affects humans because animals are often consumed. When humans consume animals like, fish, there can be plastic in the fish’s belly, which then transfers to the humans and this poses a concern for human’s health. Humans are negatively affected by plastic bags because of the toxic chemicals in plastic bags, as well as, consuming animals with plastic in their
There are few things that can draw a good crowd like a fireworks show . Shark fin soup is a popular dish in the Chinese culture and it is mainly served in special events, it consists of a shark fin and chicken. It is mainly consumed by a wealthy minority. Although many people in the chinese culture seem to enjoy this popular delicacy, the shark population is declining, through the process of shark finning. Shark finning begins with the removal of the shark’s fins, once all of the fins are cut out, anything remaining left from the shark is thrown back into the ocean, and the shark is sometimes still left alive. Shark finning should be banned, because it is inhumane, sharks play a major role in the ecosystem, and it is declining the shark population.
In Adam B Summers’ essay he gives valid reasons why plastic bags should not be banned. His essay is persuasive in many ways such as focusing on the effect on the earth and also job cutting. He also gives alternative ways to use a plastic bag. Summers gives examples on how banning plastic bags can lead to worse human damage.
... think about the harm they cause to others. Many consumers such as hairdressers do not even bother to find out what are in the chemicals they are using. The question was asked to local hairdressers around the town of Yazoo, “Do you know or care what is in the hair products that you use?” Many of the answers they gave seemed to give the idea that the products were only a money maker, and in order to make the money they have to please the people. When people use these chemical filled products, they do have to wash them out. Many do not even bother to think about where these chemical filled waters go. The chemicals go in our drinking water, our showers and bathtubs, the water that we brush our teeth and wash our face with. Yet and still people continue to use them to this day. Maybe in the future the world will create healthier ways to color and straighten the hair.
Animals have been used in testing since around 322 BC, and no one has done anything to stop this (Hajar). Medical breakthroughs and safety procedure would have been easily accomplished without the torture of these animals. To ensure the safety of a product tests are conducted and due to these tests 115 million animals are killed worldwide. (About Animal Testing). Animal Testing should be banned because animals are put under harsh conditions and their lives should not be at risk for our selfish needs.
The sale of cigarettes and tobacco is a multi-billion dollar industry, but is it truly worth all the problems that stem from their use. Health care costs are extremely high due to all the health problems associated with cigarettes and tobacco. Even though research has proven time and time again the harmful effects of cigarettes, and the rising cost of health care caused by cigarettes our government will not take a stand and stop all manufacturing of the horrible toxins.
Setting off fireworks to celebrate festivals and happy occasions has been a tradition for Chinese people. The loud booms as well as the striking spectacles displayed by the fireworks add to the jubilance of the day. However, the most beautiful aspects of fireworks cannot compensate for the problems they generate. Whether to ban the fireworks has always been a controversial topic among people. As the Air Pollution Index in Beijing becomes incredibly high this winter, a new discussion on the necessity of firework banning policy has been raised. To ban (not simply regulate) the use of firecrackers is the right thing to do, since the positive effects of banning outweigh its drawbacks. To be more specifically, both rockets and fireworks should be banned in all areas (including rural areas). No one is allowed to sell or buy firework, even those who have been trained to set up large organized displays.
-The rubber band that is tried on the straw should neither be too loose nor too tight. If it is too loose, air will escape when it is not supposed to. If it is too tight, it will be difficult to blow air inside the balloon as it will block air from getting in.
