Setting off fireworks to celebrate festivals and happy occasions has been a tradition for Chinese people. The loud booms as well as the striking spectacles displayed by the fireworks add to the jubilance of the day. However, the most beautiful aspects of fireworks cannot compensate for the problems they generate. Whether to ban the fireworks has always been a controversial topic among people. As the Air Pollution Index in Beijing becomes incredibly high this winter, a new discussion on the necessity of firework banning policy has been raised. To ban (not simply regulate) the use of firecrackers is the right thing to do, since the positive effects of banning outweigh its drawbacks. To be more specifically, both rockets and fireworks should be banned in all areas (including rural areas). No one is allowed to sell or buy firework, even those who have been trained to set up large organized displays.
The tradition of burning bamboo to create loud noises as part of Chinese New Year celebrations goes far back in history. Scholars from the Western Han (206BC-AD8) through the Southern Song (1127-1279) dynasties all recounted a popular belief that the noises could expel or scare away a mountain demon Nian to ensure a happy, peaceful new year. Fireworks became popular in Qing Dynasty. They are propelled into the sky to create large, multicolored works as visual arts for celebration. Other countries all over the world also use firecrackers and fireworks to celebrate their festivals.
For safety reasons, most Chinese cities banned firecrackers and fireworks in the year of 1990. From 1987 to 1993, during which time the explosions of firecrackers injured 2462 citizens in Beijing, the dangerous aspect of firecrackers has been taken into concern...

Determining the seriousness and appropriate treatment of a burn requires its classification. Burns are classified according to three factors, the depth and number of affected tissue layers, the total percentage of the body surface that is involved, and the presence of homeostasis disruption or destruction such as respiratory distress, fluid loss, or loss of blood pressure control (Patton & Thibodeau, 2014). According to Mr. MacPherson’s appearance and symptoms, his burns are classified as second-degree or partial-thickness burns. The evidence for this diagnosis according to Patton and Thibodeau (2014), are his presenting symptoms of severe pain and the appearance of blisters, edema, and fluid loss. This type of bur...
In conclusion, it is clear that situations like this could easily be prevented with a few vitals steps. The first step in the line of prevention is restriction of flammable materials in nightclubs and other buildings, especially in enclosed spaces. Second is the installation of fire prevention systems—fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems and fire alarms with early notification to the local fire authorities. Also, the prevention of using dangerous pyrotechnics in enclosed spaces is imperative. Finally, the need for sufficient exits is vital to the safety of the people in any building, especially a crowed nightclub.
Eye burns can lead to loss of one or both eyes. Nasal and ear passages involved develop extended suppuration and necrosis which abscess with unbearable pain to the patient. The face becomes hideous with psychological trauma of formidable proportions. There are other lingering damages: lesions of the bone, which do not show up on X-rays, and appearance of cysts of certain joints and bones of the hand – for instance, the metacarpus – which persist for many years after the initial burning” (Napalm and Its Effects on Human
In 1044 AD Zeng Gongliang and Yang Weide wrote a treatise called “Wujing Zongyao” or “Collection of the Most Important Military Techniques” in which several formulas for making powerful blasting powder with a large percentage of nitrate were contained. These experiments with and improvements of gunpowder formulas led to more powerful weapons, including bombs (Needham, Joseph (1986e), Science and Civilisation in China: Volume 5, Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Part 7: Military Technology; The Gunpowder Epic, Cambridge: Cambridge University
There are many causes of accidental death in the United States, one of the most commonly seen are burn injuries. Burn injuries can effect a victim both internally (lungs) and externally (skin), they are so serious that many major hospitals have a burn unit area solely for the treatment of burn victims. In this research paper we will discuss the important issues dealing with the injuries of a burn victim such as the etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, complications and treatment.
Here are some of the testimonials given by residents of Anaheim: "My wife has asthma, and I have two kids that have asthma," resident Alejandro Robles, told the Titan. "When the fireworks go off, it really affects them and they have to go inside the house." "When the fireworks explode, the neighborhood turns into a wartime movie set," the Titan related. "People start to run for cover as ashes from the fireworks rain onto their cars and homes. Car alarms whistle and scream as dogs yelp and babies cry in the darkness." These are just a few testimonials from the residents of Anaheim. This problem of pollution is also affecting Hong Kong which already has a lot of pollution to deal with. But apparently, in 2002, Hong Kong’s Environmental Department was satisfied with the Disney’s reports which showed that they met the government standards of pollution and environmental effects. Although many refuse to accept this, Hong Kong didn’t pay attention to that. People have started wearing masks that cover their mouth so as to prevent themselves from inhaling the toxic chemicals. All this air pollution finally affects the environment and the ozone layer is getting depleted because of it. Disney may not be the sole reason for this but it is surely a part of
El Salvador, 6 April 1992--Three siblings died near the Guazapa volcano last weekend when they stepped on a mine planted during the period of civil warfare. Ironically, their parents had returned to the area only a few days earlier. The children were four, six and eight years old. Parts from the three children's bodies were found as far as 30 metres from the explosion site. (qtd. in Grant 25)

Smoking is hazardous to smokers as well as nonsmokers and children around them. It also tremendously harms Mother Nature. As studies had shown, smoking in public places does not only harm their health and bother other people, but also violate their rights. It is smokers’ social responsibility to save the innocent ones. Through the implementing ordinance on smoking, the government is putting its efforts to protect the nonsmokers and nature as well. Smokers should obey all regulation to care for the people around – they can also be family members, friends and neighbors.
Unlike Chinese New Year, New Year’s is always on January 1st every year and no other day. However, the Chinese use its own calendar to determine the New Year day; most other people use different calendars to determine when New Year’s Day is on. In many countries, they use the Babylonian philosophies to determine the time of the New Year. New Year’s around the world all have different traditions to celebrate the holiday, unlike the Chinese, who limit themselves to a few traditions. One of the most known traditions during regular New Year’s is the ball drop in New York. Although the New Year’s around the world is very different from Chinese New Year, Chinese New Year stands out the most, because it has its own traditions that do not need to follow the traditions of the regular new year and does not need to be in the same day every year like the regular new

This paper examines the factors that led to the climate change and environmental threat particularly air pollution and also identifies the roles of the Chinese government in resolving the environmental crisis. Every single day, globalization is keeping moving forward and makes human unpredictable what will happen in the future include human security. As in the case of climate change, as the same thing occurred to human security threats because they related each other. The rapid in industrialization, the gradually growth of economics and the globalization in China contributing to the factors of environmental crisis and climate change to their society. Consequently, these transformations gave the negative impact on human security which is in economically, domestically, agriculturally and the most important thing is the health of human. Therefore, those issues will be challenges to the policy makers of the Chinese government to identify the suitable policy to implement and also find a way to confront these issues as a responds to the resolving the environmental crisis and climate change.
A main cause in the recent studies of global warming is the usage or aerosols. Aerosols are a substance enclosed under pressure and able to be released as a fine spray, typically by means of propellant gas. An aerosol can range from hairspray all the way to dust particles in the air. The new worries that are starting to show prominence in society today are the increase in carbon dioxide from t...
Factories and transportation depend on huge amounts of fuel--billions of tons of coal and oil are consumed around the world every year. When these fuels burn they introduce smoke and other, less visible, by-products into the atmosphere.
Arson is one of the oldest crimes recognized throughout the world. It is defined as the intentional and malicious burning of a structure or building (Montaldo). Arson can cost the lives of individuals and the damages can be costly. In 2010, there were about 260,600 fires (“Arson and Intentional Fires,” n.d.). Many of these fires were intentionally set. These fires have resulted in an estimated 390 deaths, 1,340 injuries, and $1.2 billion in damages (“Arson and Intentional Fires,” n.d.). Most of the fires have occurred outside, but most of the deaths, injuries, and losses occurred in structures, particularly in homes (“Arson and Intentional Fires,” n.d.). Arson is considered to be a property crime to law enforcement agencies, despite that the fires created by the arsonist can injure and kill many people. This paper will discuss the history of arson as well as explaining why arson is difficult to prove, why people commit it, and also provides specific case examples and suggestions on what people can do to reduce the risk of arson.
