Picture a kid sleeping peacefully In his bed Then the alarm clock goes off and he realizes that he is late he jumps up and sprints down the stairs he has no time to eat he grabs his bag and run out the door. In class he falls asleep in class then the teacher caught him and he gets detention. In detection stares at the window thinking of what he is going to eat when he gets home he is starving he did not eat breakfast and did not have enough time to pack a lunch. What is a main reason why all this happened? Lack of sleep, things like this could be avoided if school would be pushed back an hour or two. So today I have decided to write this blog and go over some facts about sleeping

Other people might argue that this would make the generation lazy and not ready for the real world. But I say that Although sleeping in might be thought as lazy I think that what is even more lazy is having to sleep in class or skip school days that is more lazy There is really nothing bad about getting the recommended amount of sleep. Other people will also say that in the real world sometimes you don’t get the recommended amount of sleep. I personally think that this is 100% true And in real life you might not get 8 hours of sleep, although this is true why would we sleep deprived are youth when they need it the
most. In conclusion I strongly believe that school should be put back a hour For the reasons stated above. I did my job now it is up to you my evidence is on the table.
Why Schools Should Continue Starting at Eight Despite popular opinion, to be beneficial, schools should continue on their current schedules, and not start later. Starting schools later can have a variety of positive and negative consequences on students. Schools currently are at a time that gives students enough lesson time to learn subjects, but still have time to relax and take part in other activities after school. Many families depend on the time school starts to have easy transportation to school and work. Starting schools later will take away students time to do activities of their choice such as spend time with their families, socialize with others, and participate in extracurricular activities.

This is an everyday occurrence at my house. It is a proven statistic that the average high school student does not get enough sleep. When you were 14-16 were you tired or sleeping in class? Odds are you were, because 60% of 14-16 year olds get less than 7 hours of sleep each night. Schools should start later than when it is now because of these 3 reasons. The 1st reason is that kids wouldn’t be so tired in their morning classes. They wouldn’t fall asleep in their morning classes. Kids would get enough sleep where they won't be so late to class. The last reason is that kids would feel better because they will get more hours of sleep than normal.

Among adolescents and teenagers lack of sleep has become an epidemic. Teenagers believe that sleep is expendable when, in reality, it is extremely important for teens to receive sufficient sleep. Alexandra Robbins argues in her book, The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids, that teenagers are willing to sacrifice sleep for success and that this way of thinking is harmful to adolescent development. It is because of this way of thinking and the negative effect it has, that the start time of high schools should be pushed back. Through evidence provided by Robbins and an outside source, it can be asserted that the start time of high schools should be pushed back.
Are you tired of waking up so early in the morning? Daryn doesn't get tired until 11:00. He then has basketball practice at 6:15. That means he only gets about 6 hours of sleep because he has to wake up at 5:30. After basketball he's tired, then he has to go to school and most likely falls asleep in school because he's so weary from such a busy, miniscule morning. Schools should start later in the morning because it gives the child more sleep so they won't be tired, gives them a more productive morning and benefits their education.

Lastly in the article ‘Shorter School Days’ it talks about how little amounts of sleep can cause things such as violence, depression, and alcohol abuse. The reason most teens drink under aged is probably because of the amount of sleep their not getting. Also the amount of violence in schools could be lowered by having shorter school days.

After getting ready, many students look forward to a nap in their first hour class despite the information they will miss. Teenagers seem to always have had trouble getting up in the morning, even earning the title of lazy from their parents. However, recent research on adolescent sleep patterns has produced a biological explanation for this tendency. This raises a serious question: why are high schools starting early in the morning when teenagers are biologically programmed to sleep in? For most cases, school start time has not been conformed to fit student physiological needs simply because of transportation issues.
