Having enjoyed the academic study of both BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT and BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Art and Design, specifically the programming in C# and Python which I look forward to extending my knowledge of programming and the creative aspects of the Art course will allow me to pursue my interests in Computer Science/Software Development in greater depths. Within college I have received many opportunities to gain a lot of experience in different fields such as becoming a mentor for younger years (seven to eleven) that require assistance/guidance in their lessons which I have learned a great deal from, such as: being a role model, working with children, safeguarding, able to spot when children are struggling and general …show more content…
Previously a year six open evening, from this I have gained greater communication skills, talking in a group, public speaking and all-round more approachable. Also I recently volunteered to assist in presenting an assembly for years 7 – 11 to promote the ‘Hour of Code’, ‘BAFTA Young Games Designer of the Year’ and computer science in general, from this I have gained greater communication skills, talking in a large group, public speaking and presenting/leading an a presentation. My class and I also volunteered last year to aid in the coding workshops that Platform Expo organized, teaching younger years how to write simple programs in Python, from this I have improved my problem solving skills, working with children, communication skills, talking in a group, public speaking and again becoming more approachable as a person. I chose to do a Subsidiary in Art and Design due to it allowing me to comprehend what will be aesthetically pleasing to the user in any aspect of computer science that I wish to go into, such as graphical design, games design or some aspects of coding such as a UI for a
Widened with amazement, my eyes watched as my fingers swirled the blobs of red and blue paint into a deep purple. The smell of tempera paint and wet wood-chips surrounded me that rainy day in the small playground of De Colores pre-school. I vividly remember feeling that astounded thrice more; first, when I roamed the aisles of Michael’s craft store for the first time, secondly, when I perfected my favorite shrimp dish, and lastly after my first psychology course. Though I have had countless positive and exciting experiences, I have also had some pretty impactful negative ones. Dropping out of high school was the biggest blessing in disguise of my life. It led to my enrollment in a concurrent enrollment program at a local community college that changed my life, through which I met some resilient people that I will always remember. Art therapy is my number one career choice and the Master of Arts in Art Therapy program at Notre Dame de Namur University
What made the final decision for the career you chose for yourself? Is it something you are passionate about doing? Was it the money? Well what if you could take an assessment test of your skills and see what career would be best for you? You don’t want to be stuck doing a job that you do not enjoy because you thought it paid well. After exploring two very different careers, it was interesting to see what I found. A Business Executive and an art therapist have very little in common.
When I entered my first year of college, I decided to pursue psychology as a major because I was interested in how people’s minds affect how they behave and their personalities. Despite not taking psychology classes in high school, I had a pretty good experience in knowing what was going on around my friends by observing their behavior, the tone in their voice, or actions, and I’ve learned to develop skills in offering good advice to them. It seemed useful to apply my skills to academics. However, I aspired to be more than just a regular psychologist. I wanted to find a deeper, interesting, and creative method that can help people who suffered personal issues, such as relationships and disorders.
This paper serves the purpose to explore three main topics: who am I, what have I learned thus far, and who do I want to become? Through my experience at Adler University I have gained insight into what it takes to become an art therapist. Though the journey of pursuing art therapy is a lifelong experience, it didn’t start here.
I have had two part-time jobs involving computer related work, in which I have been able to bring art influences into. When working for Retail Futures, an e-commerce company based in Malvern, I designed their corporate image, and websites for clients such as Coalport and Parcel Force. More recently I have taken another job with a more technical slant, for another e-commerce firm, eplexus. I still do design work, in which I have designed websites and images for "Highwaycode.com", and Anglo Digital a successful venture capitalist firm. Alongside my practical experience, I am also studying Computing at my current college, which aids me to learn the fundamentals of computer usage and programming, an area that I am interested in.
I have been actively involved and made the most of my school time here at Harrow since my first arrival in Year 10. During this time, I was able to achieve seven A*s and significantly improved my English ability. After my first place in the open film competition three years ago, I have always tried to put my video editing / filming ability to good use. My past work includes Drama Production DVDs, East Meet West pre-production video, 2013 yearbook DVDs of the Benefit Bash + Gala Concert and the recruitment ads of the RAWR team. Beside school events, I have also filmed or made/edit print designs to help others when need arises, for example the Student Jam, Year 11 Prom and the monthly Coffee House poem events.
When you love to do something, you want to do it every day, all the time, till you get sick of it. Even then that excitement and devotion to do it is still there. That is how I feel about art. I have a great passion for it. It is a form where I can express myself in a way words can’t.
Art program for women in need comes to an end, Is a great nonprofit organization letting women come together to express who they are through art and also learning new things about who they are in the process of making their art, they learn more about themselves and who they are.
It was great being able to bounce ideas off friends and teachers to achieve a polished final design. My time there allowed me to be ready for a degree level course at university. My future, as I see it, will have art as an anchor, to become a qualified graphic designer. As they say make passion your profession. The design industry is full of exciting and challenging tasks therefore I want to enrol on a course that will empower me with the creative skills and knowledge that will enable me to join and contribute to the dynamic and constantly evolving world of design.
When I was a little girl, I remember going over to my grandmother’s house, and as soon as I walked in I heard the sizzling in the pans and smelled the herbs throughout the house. I would always study the way she would use her techniques that her mother taught her. She would let me help her make anything no matter how much of a mess I would cause or if I poured too much of something. For example, when I helped her make a cake for my mother’s birthday she gave me wonderful tips for the perfect layer cake. The simple tips such as making sure that all of your ingredients are at room temperature or using simple syrup to keep the cake moist.
Although I began getting into art when I was about 8 years old, my passion for art started in Jr. High when I had my first real art class. In eight grade my mom signed me up for additional lessons in painting and though I usually prefer using ink pen or colored pencil these lessons definitely gave me another perspective in art. In high school I truly began seeing my strengths and weaknesses in art. Freshman year I was entered in the state fair and won an award, I also received a certificate of excellence in the fine arts.
As I entered home, the smell of paint and varnish mixed with coffee encompassed the air. Grandpa sat there with a mug of coffee in one hand and an orange-tinted brush in the other. He weaved magic with every dexterous stroke of his brush. As part of our daily ritual, I started to draw vague images as grandpa happily shared his paints and accessories and carefully monitored and corrected my hand movements. I believe this everyday ritual with him instilled the love of arts in me and as everyone else says perhaps it is also a genetic gift from him to me.
Throughout the ages art has played a crucial role in life. Art is universal and because art is everywhere, we experience it on a daily basis. From the houses we live in (architecture) to the movies we see (theatre) to the books that we read (literature). Even in ancient culture art has played a crucial role. In prehistoric times cave dwellers drew on the wall of caves to record history. In biblical times paintings recorded the life and death of Christ. Throughout time art has recorded history. Most art is created for a specific reason or purpose, it has a way of expressing ideas and beliefs, and it can record the experiences of all people.
During my whole life and experience I have been interested in the Art, Creativity, and I have been traveling around Graphics Designing. When I go out to centres, supermarkets, the high streets around Kingston anywhere in London, Germany and other parts of Europe which I have seen. I have seen lots of Graphics designs in advertising, Billboards companies for example in electronical products or any type of product the graphics advertising companies running around the world, just because of that I was inspired in the graphics designing and I was influence by the subject.
