I believe I deserve to be a recipient of your scholarship for many reasons. I am a hard worker, unique, and can overcome any obstacle thrown at me. I am a hard worker and never give up. I work hard in life, school, and basketball. I have had to work hard to be where I am at today, nothing in my life has ever been handed to me. I have always gone the extra mile in school to get the best grades possible. I spend hours a night doing homework, and making note cards/study guides for test because retaining knowledge the first time does not always come easy to me. In basketball I have put in extra time to improve my skills, by staying late after practice or walking to a nearby school to use their outside basketball courts. Growing up catholic, I have always been taught to put others before myself and that is what I try to do everyday of my life. I believe it is better to care for someone else who needs it rather than myself. Personally, I realize that everyone in this world is different and we all have struggles that no one knows about. In my unique nature, I tend to put the feelings of others before myself because I don’t know what they could be going through. I show empathy towards others and compassion because that is how I would want to be treated. Something that is also very unique about me as a teenager is that I volunteer my free time to community service. I volunteer all around the community in many different organizations such as Norwalk Area Food Bank, The Salvation Army, and The Huron County Humane Society. I have also held two different fundraiser. One for a sick student in my school, and another for an organization called Life Is Good No Matter What. I do my absolute best to give back to my
