Hello, I’m Zachary Plunkett and I would like to thank you offering a scholarship to a Blairsville High School Senior. From what I understand Bernard Conway was a model citizen and role model. He guided his life with honesty, respect, loyalty, and service. Thankfully my parents instilled these values into myself at a young age, whether I wanted or not. Today, the characteristics mentioned are ones I strive to live my life by. I enjoy helping other people. I haven't ever been presented the opportunity to really make an outstanding difference in someone's life, but I actively do the little things. In my neighborhood I often do yard work for two of my neighbors without every being asked or told to do so. Next door my neighbor has multiple sclerosis …show more content…
This allowed me to be with my family more. On one occasion my sister asked me to teach her son Skyler how to ride a bike. With a good push down a hill he learned pretty quick. What I didn’t expect was how much I enjoyed helping him. After this occasion I found myself asking if I could watch him on every nice day, just to go on bike rides. We went to most of the trails in the area and gradually we acquired a really good relationship. This summer we have been making plans to take him and his friend all over the place. A positive side effect of this is that about once a week I will take the kids off of two single …show more content…
Regretfully I slacked off early on in my high school career. This left me eleventh in my class at the end of my freshman year. To make up for this I began scheduling every advanced class I could take. Since then with perseverance I have made my way into second in class. Along with a very demanding workload from school, I managed to work at Sheetz averaging thirty hours a week, for almost two years. From here I have also been involved in cross country, basketball, and track and
I am dedicated to helping out our community and school, because it warms my heart and soul. Seneca said in about 40 to 60 A.D. that you should “be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of favors you have received.” In other words you should not boast about the numerous projects you have accomplished and how much physical work you executed, but rather pride yourself on how you helped people in community and school, and how you have affected their lives with positive means. I feel life is joyous and it should be the feeling everyone illustrates, and this is exactly what keeps me functioning in the stressful world today. I find comfort in helping others to make their lives a little more like heaven and this comfort motivates me to perform copious service projects to the best of my capability whenever I find the time. Time is fair to the rich, the poor, and to every race, because time is equal and gives everyone 24 hours daily to accomplish their required tasks. Because time is so valuable and I am occupied by difficult advanced placement and honor classes and juggle school, clubs, sports, and friends, I joined Key Club, a high school division of the adult service club, Kiwanis. Key Club opened new doors to make every extra minute count towards helping others.
I have always been involved in volunteering and helping out my community in the most positive ways possible. I volunteer at women's shelters and soup kitchens to the best of my ability because people in need have always had a special place in my heart. For that reason, this is why I choose to receive my undergraduate degree in Social Work. I firmly think there are many amazing people in our society that are not given the opportunities that they
As a young lady graduating from The Dalles Whatonka High School I think it’s important to be involved in as many activity’s as possible. Throughout my high school years I have been involved in many school activities and comities such as student government. I have always had an interest in athletics and played sports. These leadership and athletic roles have tough me skills that will last me a lifetime.
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
Over the course of my life, I have dedicated many hours helping others. At a very young age, I wanted to make a difference in the world, not only in the sciences, but also in the lives of the less fortunate. My grandmother ran a Habitat for Humanity restore in South Carolina, so every time I visited her, I spent long days unloading donations, working the cash register, talking to perspective home owners, and delivering lunch to workers on jobsites. I loved every minute
I am a year thirteen student at Eirias High School and I am currently studying four A levels; English Language, Applied Science, Geography and the Welsh Baccalaureate. I am confident and bale to carry out and complete tasks on time or to a deadline. This has helped me in my subjects because both Applied Science and the Welsh Baccalaureate contain a lot of coursework and deadlines that need to be met.
To be awarded a scholarship thru Kent State one must submit an essay explaining why they deserve a scholarship. Instead of listing a myriad of reasons why I deserve a scholarship I figured I would tell “my story”.
A class full of young kids chasing me around the classroom, giving me the energy and reason I wake up to come here everyday. In two years I will finish my Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and management the first step to becoming a teacher. While going to school at Polk State College I will continue my job at Precious Children in the Highlands Preschool. Senior year I had interned there and got a multitude of experiences and offered a part time job as a substitute. After having this experience I have found that this is the job I want to take part in. I currently have finished my online 40 hours of child care classes during my senior year of high school. I hope to inspire young ones to be who they want and to become brilliant students.
I am a person that always wants to help. I feel that I could help people and make contributions if I was
I believe I am worthy of the scholarship. I try everyday to become a better person and help people in my community. I participate in extra activities during school, and out of school. I am a SADD member. I make good decisions everyday, and try to help others in making better decisions. I consider myself a leader and do what I want to do. I played volleyball all four years of high school. I became Varsity Volleyball Captain my senior year. I mentor and help the younger ones on how to fix their mistakes, or become a better player. I have helped out in Project MORE. I help younger kids with their schoolwork. I am also a kindergarten mentor. Every Friday, I go down to the kindergarten room and help them with their spelling, activities, or any
Applying to colleges has reignited my desire to reach Little Rock’s escape velocity. I’m ready to trade green trees and hiking trails for skyscrapers and digital billboards. Adjusting won’t be easy at first, but I trust that I’ll adapt quickly. Manhattan is where I belong. I am determined to find myself working on Wall Street one way or another.
I appreciate the opportunities which served as a huge step for me and benefits I was given as a veteran that served in the military; Post 911 GI Bill, VA Benefits, and opening this door of wonderful opportunities succeeding as a veteran, however my finances which is crucial for my success as a student has fallen. It has been a struggle, but the finances have been getting worse and worse, however I am confident that with a scholarship my chances to succeed increase. Therefore assistance with a scholarship will help me to become a great engineer and will grow to help others. The thing I appreciate most about helping others is that it has given me the opportunity to be thankful for the support I have been given. I hope to be able to repay
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
I would make a great candidate for this scholarship for many reasons. I dedicate my life in helping others. I am a hard working person who deserves this scholarship. I make to be able to help little children learn. I would like to be able to provide knowledge, strength, and kindness to the workplace.
In school, more than anything else, I look forward to math class. My mind runs in patterns and numbers. I aspire to study finance and economics in order to use my passion for numbers and patterns to benefit others. My love for numbers is derived from the sensation brought on directly after completing a problem. There are not many feelings more rewarding than completing a proof of a derivative and discovering that the answer is correct after 20 minutes of frustrating work!
