I am a year thirteen student at Eirias High School and I am currently studying four A levels; English Language, Applied Science, Geography and the Welsh Baccalaureate. I am confident and bale to carry out and complete tasks on time or to a deadline. This has helped me in my subjects because both Applied Science and the Welsh Baccalaureate contain a lot of coursework and deadlines that need to be met. I have always loved travelling as it allowed me to see different cultures and learn about the world. I have been to many European countries such as Norway, France and Iceland. My biggest travelling achievement was visiting China for a three week expedition. The experience encouraged me to learn more about the world and I am now planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. I have enjoyed studying Geography at both GCSE and A level as I had allowed me to learn more about both Human and Physical geographical issues and environments. This inspired me to travel more and learn and see for myself what had been discussed in the classroom. I have recently finished the Welsh Baccalaureate …show more content…
and it had helped improve my communication skills and group work. As part of the Welsh baccalaureate I enjoyed the opportunity to learn Mandarin and after a term I was able to use and respond to basic questions and give information such as my name and age. This became very useful when I went to China as this enabled me to communicate with the locals. I have enjoyed singing and dancing from a young age and have been attending weekly ballet lessons since I was three years old.
As I got older I started lessons on other styles of dance such as Modern dance and Tap and I have been learning both these styles weekly for almost 10 years. I have completed up to Grade 5 in Ballet and Singing, Intermediate Foundation in Modern dance and Grade 4 in Tap. Also, on a Saturday morning I assist the Ballet and Modern dance teachers at my dance school. I help in the lower grade classes and help the children learn their steps. I have been in three pantomimes with my dance school and this sparked my love for West End musicals. With my dance school I have been taking part in dance shows that run every other year and these are run to allow the children to show friends and family what they can do and what they learnt since the previous
show. During a work experience opportunity in year 10 I worked at a local theatre and this helped me to improve many skills such as problem solving. In the summer term of year 12, I volunteered for 10 weeks in a primary school. I was part of a club called “Pyramid Club”, it was for low self-esteem year 6 children to try and boost their confidence and allow them to confide in someone. Fir the past year I have been an employee at my local leisure centre as a lifeguard. To gain the qualification for this job I had to undertake a 5 day course form 10 am until 4pm. I then had an exam at the end of the course to gain the qualification. Now I am employed, I have to take a two hour monthly training session to maintain the qualification. Overall, I feel very motivated to study at university because I feel I am ready to take the next step in my education
I considered myself a performer, and after years training as a classical ballerina I expanded into stunting and tumbling. While on tour, I developed friendships and bonds with dancers strengthened by a mutual love for dance, a commonality over the pain our bodies endured daily, and conversations on bruised and broken toes.
Since the age of two, I have been dancing. I have been involved in lyrical and classical ballet, contemporary, pointe, hiphop, jazz and tap. When I turned 6 I also took up gymnastics. Through middle school I danced, and did gymanstics as well as softball and soccer. I loved these sports but when high school hit, I had to pick one and I chose cheerleading. I chose this sport because it was not only a extraordinary team athletically but they were extremely involved with the community. We had fundraisers for less fortunate children multiple times and even got to interact with them every winter. The leadership role on the cheer team taught me so much, we lead the entire student body to have school spirit and respect at the football games every friday night. My senior year I decided to switch back to dance and tried out for my high school dance team, and made it! It has been such a blessing to me by showing me even more leadership and how to serve others at our school and in the community.
When I was about four or five years old, I was introduced to Ballet. I adored being a little ballerina and would read the same dance booklet everyday, practicing the five positions and gracefully positioning my tiny arms and fingers to match the little girl in the illustrations. Because I loved dance so much, my mother enrolled me in Donna Hammond-Phelps
I have been in chorus and dance almost my entire life, singing and dancing are my passions and ever since I was young I have loved these activities and participated in events involving this. I've taken dance since I was four years old and still am now. One particular moment that represe...
new people as well as see new cultures. It has always been a dream of mine to travel
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
I have been dancing since the age of four. I started my intense training with Tanju and Patricia Tuzer, Debra Bale, and Linda Brown at Tuzer Ballet. "mmm" regularly traveling is what I desired to do my entire life, except I've never been capable of.This is excellent to follow what people's. lives are and what places there are.I admire geography and how it influences their lives and our lives.Knowing places like Australia would make you fully understand why it is
I have always been fascinated by the many arts. Around September of last year, I discovered a show that had to do with dancing and singing, which caused me to have a slight interest in the former. In November, my best friend showed me a band that is talented in dancing, and this group has fueled my curiosity. Furthermore, I have already taken a few steps towards learning their dances. I aspire to accomplish the ability to dance because of this group, I am trying to learn the choreography to their songs, and I want to perform in front of people who enjoy watching others dance.
At a young age, I discovered my passion for the arts division. My parents put me in studio dance lessons at the age of four. I have competed and participated in different dance teams and placed at the state level in high school. Dance is a huge part of my life, and even though I am no longer a member of a dance team, I still move to the beat of the music when I’m having a rough day. Dance is not my only escape from a stressful day, music is something that I require in my daily routine because it’s my relaxing and focusing time. I enjoy playing the guitar, playing the ukulele, and singing. I have a desire to learn many different
Time, the most valuable thing humans own, managing it, no easy task especially to a young undeveloped mind of a teenager, but efficiently managing time is a whole different task in itself. Students take part in extracurriculars and sports in which adding a responsibility to their schedule, but a successful student can handle the responsibilities of playing a sport. Additionally, a large part of being a highly effective student is knowing how to efficiently complete assignments, first by planning out a certain day or if the assignment is due the next day than planning out a time during the day where they complete the assignment. Another large part is completing projects and research papers, planning their schedule to complete such tedious and rigorous assignments over a certain amount of days and not just procrastinating. Working with others, an area that many do not consider a necessary skill, where working with others and collaborating is a huge part of adult life. When students can balance their extracurricular activities, plan out tedious assignments and follow through with their agenda, and work well with others and assess their time as well is all a culmination of what effective students have a skill
I love to dance and sing over anything. I’ve been singing since I could talk and dancing since I could walk. I did my first solo at church when I was 3 and that was also around I joined the dance team at church. I currently still dance at church I’ve never stopped because I love it that much. When I was 5 I got in gymnastics I didn’t like it so I got out when I turned 7. I told my mom I wanted to be a dancer so she put me
I am currently attending Sprowston High School which is a school located on the outskirts of Norwich. I am currently studying three A2 courses after completing four AS-level courses. The subjects that I am currently studying include physics, french and business studies, whilst information technology was taken at AS-level. I am confident with my grades at the end of the first year of studies. I am confident that with extra effort I could improve my grades and push them past my expected target minimum grades.
As I was growing up my family and I would usually go and see ballets and then as I grew older we stopped going. When you are in Elementary school you have music class and to make it fun your class usually had to put on a play/musical. When I was in 2nd grade maybe I remember I finally auditioned to be a reindeer in a Christmas musical that was taking place. I only got the role because the person who originally got it wasn’t sad enough and couldn’t sign because he was stage fright. I remember how fun it use to be but that feeling soon faded because of all the lines and things that went with it. Musicals all through school were always fun to hear about but I never really paid much attention because I found
There is nothing quite like traveling, going someplace new and finding out more about the world and yourself. Anyone can become a traveler it just takes a little bit of faith and courage. Traveling across the world or even across the country is a learning experience. When you are a traveler you see how people live and how different cultures work. It is the best educational experience you could give yourself. You see how the world works in a way no one can teach you. Seeing different cultures and people help build the person you want to be. If you are a traveler the world influences you, because when traveling, you see the good and the bad, and you learn from the right and the wrong. I am very lucky that I am able to be a traveler and see this
