A class full of young kids chasing me around the classroom, giving me the energy and reason I wake up to come here everyday. In two years I will finish my Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and management the first step to becoming a teacher. While going to school at Polk State College I will continue my job at Precious Children in the Highlands Preschool. Senior year I had interned there and got a multitude of experiences and offered a part time job as a substitute. After having this experience I have found that this is the job I want to take part in. I currently have finished my online 40 hours of child care classes during my senior year of high school. I hope to inspire young ones to be who they want and to become brilliant students. I have had struggled and faced obstacles in school but that has only made me push harder. I am determined to do my best. There has always been teachers who encouraged and assisted me in difficult times and making it possible to achieve my dreams. I get the rush and excitement to go to work like a child who got their favorite toy for their birthday. I have learned if I set my dreams high I can achieve almost anything I want. The path to success will not be easy but I know through determination, hard work, and encouragement I will get where I want to go. I strive to keep doing better. There has been lots of people along the way that I have learned from to help me in the future and I hope to have many more people that will help inspire me. If it wasn't for the determination I had I would have never gotten to where I am standing right now. As I walk through those college doors I start the journey to the chapter I have been waiting to start since I was a child and becoming what ... ... middle of paper ... ...them in the classroom at the preschool. In 2011 I got Polk County Junior tournament winner 18 and under girls doubles. In everything I do for volunteer and work I try to do something involved with kids. Lastly I could not see myself doing anything other than working with kids. My passion has spread out so much this past summer. I am beyond excited to start my next journey in college. Getting the part time job at the Preschool from interning over the summer was the highlight of my summer before senior year. I couldn't have been happier to start senior year off knowing the career I want to do and being beyond words can describe passionate on it. If you are looking for someone who is passionate about what they do and want to do in the future your looking in the right direction and I'll continue to be the passionate, inspiring, loving, and caring young lady I am today.
Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.
Scholarship, leadership, character, and service are four attributes that define an excellent student. Being in high school, it’s difficult at times to be a leader, show your character, and be involved with voluntary services while being focused on scholarship, but I have managed to do all four numerous times. I am so grateful and excited to have the chance to be a part of the National Honors Society.
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
As a young lady graduating from The Dalles Whatonka High School I think it’s important to be involved in as many activity’s as possible. Throughout my high school years I have been involved in many school activities and comities such as student government. I have always had an interest in athletics and played sports. These leadership and athletic roles have tough me skills that will last me a lifetime.
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
Although I had a variety of options to choose from as my career, I was very passionate to take the path of an Early Childhood Educator. This was to not only inspire the young children that are going to be looking up to me, but to be an educator that will help guide the children to become the best they can be in the present and future. I believe with all the support I can provide my future students, they can achieve the basic knowledge required to move on towards attaining higher academic accomplishments.
College Education is of the utmost importance to me especially when competing with people in my age group. A college education is also one of the most costly obligations that one must do to gain success. In my academic career, I have gain many experiences that I may not have been able to experience had I not attended a post-secondary education. A college education has never been an option for me it was always instilled in my brain as an adolescent as a top priority. In my youth I was certain of my goals and aspirations, the person that I wanted to become and where I see myself in the future. Some people in my same age group with similar upbringing as mine had ne focus. Their prerogative was to acquire money in any way that they knew how. Their options including, dealing drugs or for women prostitution and or becoming a hair stylist. I was adamant that in my profession a college education was not only necessary as a requirement to obtain a law license but also there were no exit strategies. To elucidate I am speaking of secondary options such as a technical school. My peers often believed that my choice would change and I was just hoping that their state of minds too would alter. My dreams of becoming a lawyer was slowly approaching as I reached the age of 18. High school teachers of mine often attempted to sway me into a different direction since I was not as outspoken as my fellow classmates. However, I would inform them just as I have revealed to others that my dream is everlasting and my path is clear. I will become a lawyer and today examining the course of my short academic years—spending only 17 years in school beginning with Head Start- I would be the attorney I have always wanted to be. Life has not always been daisies wi...
I am qualified to be accepted into the National Honor Society based on scholarship. Scholarship is defined as academic study or achievement; learning at a high level. I have maintained at least a 96 unweighted overall average throughout my years in Trinity as well as in middle school. I have tried to take rigorous courses as well as many to help me get into a better school for my major in science. I take Honors courses along with an AP course and manage to be consistent in my school work while having practice for sports after school every day and twice a week for outside of school sports. I have been nominated for the Science Honor Society for excelling in my Biology, Chemistry, and Physics classes. I have been on Principal’s List Freshman year when I was ranked 30 in the class and Sophomore year when I ranked 20 in the class, so I believe my continued growth as the curriculum gets harder qualifies me for the National Honor Society under scholarship.
Although college is challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from others, by developing strategies, and by setting goals for myself. College is not for everybody that is why I have to be focused on my goals if I want to be successful one day. I want to be one of those students who graduate. “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” – Thomas
...ow that I can go out there and make the kids smile and have fun but again that's easy. I want to be the teacher that the kids remember not only because I was but but also because I taught them something and gave them a new way of critically looking at things. I think I'll be good at implementing the social learning theory because I enjoy being involved and if doing so if helpful to them then its another added bonus. I hope I can keep my ideas fresh and creative through the use of technology so I always keep the children interest and keep them motivated and wanting to learn more. I believe that if you can get a kid motivated to learn then you can find a way to teach them anything. I really think I am going to enjoy not only challenging the kids, but also challenging myself to keep finding ways to relate to each student and to get them interested and excited to learn.
Throughout my high school career, I have always been closely involved with our local chapter of FBLA. Freshman year, I piled my schedule with a plethora of CTE classes to push myself to learn crucial skills. Through those classes, I met my FBLA advisor who was the person to give me the final push into joining. She noticed my high scores on all of the Microsoft Office certification tests and suggested that I join FBLA to compete in Word Processing. At first, I was terrified with the prospects of getting on stage in front of thousands of people to receive awards – and then I fell in love.
A freshman college class introduces me to Economics much like how New York City introduces me to the United States. Through books and media, I came into contact with New York, which ignited my initial interest in America. This seed of admiration eventually emerged as one of my life-long goals – to study in the US. I have always been determined to complete my study at this world-capital, had my dream of studying in the US come into fruition. And there is no better fit for me than the New York University.
... After graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Education, I plan to get a job as a teacher in an elementary school. I believe that there is a need for compassionate and caring teachers in elementary schools. At such a young age, I believe that it is important for elementary students to have positive role models in their lives.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
I am so excited about one day teaching our children. My goal is to be a positive influence on a child and I cannot imagine anything more important to do with my life than helping children. A quote from Herbert Kohl sums up my feelings of becoming an educator: “I believe the impulse to teach is fundamentally altruistic and represents a desire to share what you value and to empower others. I am not talking about the job of teaching so much as the calling to teach. Most teachers I know have felt that calling at some time in their lives.” My dream is to someday soon fulfill my calling.
