When I first entered high school, I was one of the most diligent students in the school. I placed in the top 5% of my class, I spent nearly all of my lunch keeping up with my assignments, and I would spend my weekends studying. I would give it my all, and then reap the benefit. After my freshman year, I auditioned for the Las Vegas Academy of the Performing Arts. As excited as I was to begin attending this prestigious academy, I did not realize how difficult it would be to keep up my grades. Although, I currently thrive as a Theatre major at this school, it was a culture shock in the beginning. Particularly, when I first started going to LVA, I woke up at 4 am to prepare for a 7 am start time at school. Las Vegas Academy is on the other side
High school is where I had gained an awareness about how what I 'm learning in school is going to benefit me in the real world. I learned an retain a variety of information because the things that I did learn I felt like you would need to know to survive in the real world. A perfect example of this is driver 's ed where I learned to drive something that I do everyday frequently. Another reason why I learned and retain so much I because when I got into high school is around the same time I got my first job. This definitely opened the door in showing me how what I 'm learning in school applies to everyday work activities such as knowing and counting money this is where math comes in. Being able to talk and communicate writing and verbally this is where English comes in. All things that I needed to do in everyday
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." This is my all-time favorite quote. It is my motivation when the skies around me become cloudy. It is the fuel that feeds my ever-growing hunger to dance. Living by this motto will help me achieve my goal of becoming not just a professional dancer, but also an inspiration to others. My strong extracurricular background provides for a solid base, serving as a great steppingstone as I reach closer and closer to making my dream a reality.
Regretfully, when I entered high school I did not realize how hard I had to work to get what I wanted. I went to my classes, did my work, but never really pushed myself to my full abilities. I thought that as long as I graduated with decent grades I would be able to get into college and really focus then. But as high school quickly came to an end I realized that I was not as well prepared for college, as I would have liked.
I want to go to college for the wholesome intellectual stimulation and to get more involved with my community. College will be my last opportunity to do so before I enter the work force. At college I can be intellectually and academically challenged; I will be able to learn with friends who are as dedicated to learning and the pursuit of knowledge as I am. My goals in college are to acquire the skills that I need to lead a successful and productive life, to expand my knowledge of the world, to step out of my comfort zone, and to become more proactive.
School is a huge representation of one’s character and work ethic. I think it shows a lot about a person when they put effort into their school work and grades, because it reflects how hard they are willing to work for their goals and aspirations. Grades are extremely important to me, so I work hard to do my best and achieve my goals. I plan on furthering my education
A high school diploma is practically just a piece of paper anymore. You must have a college degree in order to get a well-paying job. Sure you can go into the labor force right out of high school, but you may only be making $40,000 a year. That much money may sound like a lot, but in reality it is not. People with a college degree tend to make twice that amount, if not three or four times that amount of money a year.
I always try my hardest in every subject. I take the responsibility of my classes extremely seriously because I consider schoolwork to be my top priority. I also have made the honor roll multiple times. I believe that all my hard work and dedication has paid off as I am nominated for the National Honors Society. Along with responsibility of school, I also have the responsibility of fulfilling my parent’s dreams. I have seen my parents work hard their entire life so they could to make my future better. Their dream is to see me becomes a doctor one day. Ever since high school started, I put forth my best effort to succeed in the future and hopefully make their dream come true. The responsibilities given to me by my teachers and parents have pushed me to keep on working and get things done on time. As I live up to more and more my responsibilities and promises, I have gained the trust of my parents, teacher, and friends. Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to be better prepared for my major, I want to be better then the next person with the job credentials. I want to major in Social Work and Criminology. I dream to be a counselor or an clinical service social worker. I want to help people who need someone there for them someone who can guide them or even just talk too. Another reason is because I would be the first in I would be the first in my family to go to college. I feel in some type of way I am setting an example for my parents and my brother that they too can go back to school. Lastly is simply because I love school. I love knowing more and more each day. College is not for everyone, but I will be successful by grasping the benefits, preparing for the problems, taking heed from experts, and working on strategies to be successful.
When I go to the High School I want to have fun and learn. Having fun as in, to enjoy my classes and learn at the same time. Learning, well that is easy to understand but could be difficult. Soon I will go to the High School and be a sophomore,but probably not enjoy all my classes. Sum of my expectations of the High School is that I can go play sports, enjoy my classes, and get into more things outside of school that make school not such a place where I don’t want to go.
I try to take everything in life day by day and to try and not panic or get overwhelmed. Staying focused can be hard but I am doing everything I can to keep my grades up and stay out of trouble. Ever since I was young, I've always struggled with math. However, I never let it get the best of me. To start off, and to be honest, I never really had any success in math except for counting my money after a long day of work. When I was young and in Elementary School, I stayed back in first grade. My mother decided that it was only for the best, and that it would only help me.
My senior year of high school I decided to dedicate my self to school work. All I did was take school a little more seriously and pay attention. Before you know it I had made the honor roll for the first time and continue to make it the rest of the year. Finally the extra work was reflecting in my grades. My parents were glad to see that my education had some meaning.
During the summer before starting high school, many incoming Freshmen are hit with nerves. They’re nervous about the upperclassmen, how to fit in socially and, most importantly, the level of difficulty of the subjects in high school compared to middle school academics. Yes, I definitely do. I make sure I turn in my assignments in on time or as soon as possible with them being done in as best quality as I can do. I take pride in my education as one day I know it will take me somewhere and help me achieve my goals in life.
