There are many facts why I decided to be a teacher. I want to be a teacher because I like to help children. When my children were in Kindergarten, I was a volunteer in their classroom. I helped the teacher for almost three years consecutively. In this time, I had the opportunity to understand the profession and the responsibilities of a teacher. Being a teacher requires many traits. For example, the humanity to help others is a quality that they often have. They must enjoy their jobs a lot because they have a lower salary. A reason why I choose to be a teacher is that I had the opportunity to be a volunteer in the classrooms of my children, and this information helped me in my decision in becoming a teacher. The church has childcare for parents while they attend the Bible study classes. I work with special children, and I enjoy helping these children because they need a lot of understanding and love. They are wonderful children because they are very intelligent, although they have some special needs. When we work with these children, we need to learn sing language to communicate or understand them. My qualities, skills, talents, and characteristics to be a teacher are: I am responsible and I am like to be on time in my work place, I am patient and flexible person, I am bilingual, I am well organized, I like to help people out when they need, and I am wonderful mom and my kids tell me that all the time. The philosophy that I believe is the Essentialism because this philosophy focuses on the basic subjects, such as math, science, history, foreign language, and literature these subjects form the foundation of the curriculum. Like most people, I have a hard time thinking of one sole reason why I have chosen to become a teacher. There are so many rewards and benefits to the teaching profession that choosing one reason would be extremely hard if not impossible. Because of my family background and my past teachers I can not think of a better way to spend the rest of my life than being a teacher.
I have always tutored and assisted others in math and science, but about eight years ago while pursuing my master’s degree in Wildlife Biology, I took a couple of classes that changed my life. These classes (natural resource interpretation and environmental education) opened my eyes to the fact that I wanted to become an educator. I loved my education classes and discussed with my major advisor the fact that I wanted to become involved in education. As an extension specialist, my advisor was very involved in education and community outreach and he could help me to further my pursuit of education as a career. He offered me the opportunity to coordinate the Utah WHEP (Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program), a 4-H wildlife education program. I took the position and conducted the program for three years. During my time as the Utah WHEP coordinator, I worked with youth (aged 11-19), teaching them about wildlife, their habitats, and their management. With this experience, I knew that I had definitely found my calling.
I want to be a teacher because education is an important step in life. Teachers are the people who represent role models for young America. They help society maintain order and continue development. Teachers have the opportunity to change and influence a life. To make a difference they can look back on. As I further my education, I see the importance of a well-organized classroom and teacher. This is the backbone of a successful classroom.
When I heard that I had to come up with a philosophy paper on “why I want to be a teacher?” I thought I am never going to come up with something credible. This is really hard for me because I do not want to become a teacher. But it was assigned so this is what I came up with. I feel that I have been blessed both with good teachers and bad teachers during my career as a student. It had never really occurred to me though, that I have been a teacher for a long time myself. Also that I have been taught by the most important teacher in my life, my mother. She is also a pre-school teacher and has already taught me a lot of what it takes to be a teacher. I know that if I ever decided to become a professional teacher I would have the support of my mother, teachers that I have worked with or volunteered for, and many of my other family members who are also teachers.
Now that I have told you what has led me to this decision I would like to tell you exactly why I have chosen to become a teacher. I want to become a teacher not because of the salary nor because I want weekends and holidays off; rather, I want to become a teacher because I truly have a passion for making a difference in others lives. I feel that teaching is perhaps one of the most fulfilling roles in life. Becoming a teacher to me means helping to shape another person by teaching and instructing them.
Throughout my adult life and higher education becoming an elementary school teacher has been a goal of mine. Growing up I spent time in my mother’s classroom observing what it takes to be a teacher. It wasn’t until I started college that I realized what it really takes to become a teacher, and I realized that I wanted to become an elementary school teacher. In September 2015 I started working at a daycare with children from the ages of six months to twelve years. In that setting I learned how important it is to have a connection with the children, also including their parent. In my job I respect the children and listen to their thoughts and opinions, and in return they show the same level of respect, if not more. When being a teacher there must be respect between the teacher and the student.
The first thing that I like to share about why I choose to be a teacher and what is influencing me. The main reason that I like to be a teacher is my goals, I want to be a teacher, the addition of that influencing me are a teacher of the primary school teacher, cultural aspect and teacher identity. From the more strongly to my passion is via the fearful teachers from how they treat on their students/children.
Altogether, the many aspects that teaching offers is what brings me to the field. Besides feeling compelled to teach, it is the benefits, the thrill of teaching, the everyday learning, and the positive impact that are present in the field. I am completely aware that I will not enjoy every day as a teacher. There will be kids who push me to my limits, and there will be policies or rules that I find ridiculous. However, those are just small drawbacks and, in my opinion, do not even come close to outweighing the positives. Hence, as I rest in this moment of my life, I know deep within my heart that I want to be a teacher.

Anything but Teaching. Becoming a teacher and staying a teacher can be quite the challenge. Most universities don’t adequately prepare students for the challenges they will be faced with every single day. Most students are not informed of the good, the bad, and the ugly before becoming a teacher. Many students are not fully aware of the seriousness and stress that goes hand-in-hand with their profession.
I believe everyone is capable of learning given the proper support and tools for success. I believe education can inspire greatness. I believe education can change the world. I want to be a teacher because I want to be part of that change. I want to be that one person who believed in my students, the one who told them to dare to dream, and the one who showed them how to persevere and claim the victory. I want to be a teacher because what a child learns in the classroom can touch every area of their life and when they become an adult they’ll take what they learned and spread it out into the world. I want to be a teacher because education is necessary, vital, and life-changing. I want to be a teacher because I have a passion for it and I wouldn’t want any other job in the entire world. Children see their teachers 5 days out of the week many children look up to their teachers as role models. It is important for teachers to do the best that they can to be a positive influence on their students; children can become influenced by people they are surrounded by. Being able to have job advancements and retirements as a teacher is a very good opportunity because even if one loves being a teacher I’m sure they have their days that they wish they could do other things. Being a teacher is much more than instructing through a set curriculum. Being a teacher requires patience, commitment, understanding, and compassion on all levels. It is expected of teachers to go the extra mile for every student. Being a teacher is not always easy because challenges arise. Challenges such as misbehavior, conflicting philosophies, and emotional attachment to students. Yet, teaching is also a job full of rewards. I believe the greatest rewards will come through seeing growth in students, building strong relationships, and becoming a mentor to my students.
When I was younger if you asked me what I want to be when I grow up becoming a teacher was the last thing on my list because I hated school and wasting my time learning things. I had a normal ghetto mindset that school wasn’t for me and I didn’t need it to be successful until I went into the sixth grade. I had a teacher that really showed me interest in my learning to make me a better individuals and a grandmother who never let me give up. From that year forwards but a few years later my grandmother past which was devastating me to the core just all of the lessons and the motivation for a time was drained right out me.
