As children we have many goals and dreams. Eventually, the time comes when we have to make a career decision based on our interests and goals. Teachers have a very difficult job because they have the power to shape and inspire our future nation. Although that can be an intimidating and often scary thought, it also gives me inspiration to move ahead in pursuing my goal of becoming a teacher. I have always had a passion for children. There is nothing like watching a child grow and watching their mind expand as they learn. Teachers play such an important role in a child’s life. They are often the only one who is there to encourage and support them. If I can make a difference in only one child’s life, then I will have fulfilled my purpose of becoming a teacher.
To me being a teacher is more than wanting to work with children or teenagers. It’s loving a topic so much that you want to share your knowledge with others. It’s wanting to be a positive influence in the lives of others. It’s being a mentor and a scholar to those who seek out your guidance. I want to become a teacher for all these reasons, it’s what I want to give back to the world.

The article, “Why Consider Becoming a Teacher”, states many reasons to consider becoming a teacher. Some of these reasons are very important in making my decision, while others have no importance to me.
All in all, teachers need to be viewed as professionals and not as simply pay babysitters because most do care about the students. Teachers tolerate the low wages, long hours and repetitive disrespect because they desired to place attention on student success. Teachers should not enter that career for the money, but for the devotion they will place on the students. Luckily there are ways to make teachers more valuable in society. Teachers should be given the right equipment to teach the subject that corresponds to them, the two-year skill evaluation should be more precise and by surprise, so no one knows. Also, students should be allowed to evaluate the teachers to provide feedback. Also, teachers should be aware of the surrounding cultures. In conclusion, teachers should motivate students to reach levels they themselves never thought they could attain.

Throughout my adult life and higher education becoming an elementary school teacher has been a goal of mine. Growing up I spent time in my mother’s classroom observing what it takes to be a teacher. It wasn’t until I started college that I realized what it really takes to become a teacher, and I realized that I wanted to become an elementary school teacher. In September 2015 I started working at a daycare with children from the ages of six months to twelve years. In that setting I learned how important it is to have a connection with the children, also including their parent. In my job I respect the children and listen to their thoughts and opinions, and in return they show the same level of respect, if not more. When being a teacher there must be respect between the teacher and the student.

The best teachers are able to be active learners along with the students to help them learn as much as possible. An outstanding teacher goes out of their way to make sure that every student is getting the best education that they can provide. If students need more help or more encouragement a teacher should not be afraid to go out for their way to
My eighth grade history teacher Mrs.Harris is my mentor, she taught me at Heritage Middle School, in East Cleveland. This is also how we met and where we had met at. She was in was in her late fifties, brown-skinned, and short. Mrs. Harris always wore something nice, she was such a wonderful person. She made history fun. She had a different bond with all her students, everyone loved her. She was never upset she always had a smile on her face, and she also loved to joke around. Being a teacher isn’t easy, especially working in East Cleveland schools. But somehow Mrs.Harris made it seem so easy, There is not one student who she ever had a conflict with. I could never understand how she never got mad at any of us, she would never yell. Even when dealing with some of the bad kids who like to act up, she was still calm and was able to calm them down. Our relationship was just teacher and student, although that was just our relationship Mrs.Harris helped with a lot of my problems in school and out of school. She was very caring person, and she loved her cat and daughter she would tell us stories about them all the time.
