Whole Food V. Processed Foods

Is it really possible to be well-fed and starving at the same time? Astoundingly, the answer

is YES. In fact, today millions of Americans are doing it. They are consuming abundant food,

but keeping the cells deprived of food (nutrition). Because, what they are having are

nothing but chemically “Processed Foods”. It is the reason not only Americans, but people

all around the world get fat and fall sick.

Let us discover together, what processed foods are and why they can’t measure up to the

whole foods.

The work process is certainly confusing enough since every food item is more or less

The clear examples of such processed foods are Soda drinks, Cereals, Chips and Crackers. It

is a pretty long list.

Whole Foods

In contrast, whole foods are the unrefined, unprocessed foods grown in farmer’s gardens,

trees, or greenhouses. Talking about really authentic tastes and colors, whole foods are full

of them. Not only this, they are immensely rich in nutrition vitamins, antioxidants,

carbohydrates, fats and even protein. They relatively require more time to prepare than the

processed foods. Apart from the basic nutrients they are rich in fibers and phytonutrients

like flavonoids, lycopene and many more.

A diet rich in whole foods help the body and the immunity system in combating diseases

like cancer, diabetes and other heart diseases.

Generally the term whole foods refer to fruits, grains, and vegetables like carrots, broccoli,

spinach, chard, nuts and seeds, peas, unpolished grains, kiwi, avocado, pomegranate,but

some dieticians also prefers skinless chicken over processed chicken nuggets.

It helps to slow down the absorption of the carbohydrates, making us full in

fewer calories. Constipation is a very common problem today. Fiber helps treat it. Hence, it

is important we maintain a proper diet with sufficient fiber.

During the processing, the fiber are lost or intentionally removed to get the desired

processed food. It ruins the digestive system.

2. Processed foods are made of artificial ingredients

If you look at the ingredients used in the food pack, you would notice that they are not even

food, but some artificial additives. They are added on purpose, to enhance the flavor, color,

texture and shelf-life. There could be more than those listed on the package in fact. Studies

show GMOs or the Genetically Modified Organisms are found in 60 to 70% of all the

processed foods with a long shelf-life. These ingredients cause different health issues under

our nose like, food allergies, kidney problems, weaker bones, organ malfunction, aging and

many.

3. Processed foods lead to addiction and overconsumption

The highly processed junk foods tend to stimulate the delighting neurotransmitter so much
