Food has been a common source of necessity in our everyday lives as humans. It helps gives us nutrition and energy to live throughout our life. Over several decades, the development of making foods has evolved. They have changed from natural to processed foods in recent years. Nowadays natural ingredients are barely used in the making of foods like bread, cheese, or yogurt. The food industry today has replaced natural food making with inorganic ingredients. The cause of this switch is due to processed foods being easier, cheaper and faster to make. Artificial nutrition and processed foods have been proven to last longer in market shelves then natural foods. Also, due to artificial additives in processed foods they help satisfy consumers taste more than natural ingredients. The method of producing processed foods is common in today's food industry and helps make money faster and efficiently for companies. Examples of this can be found in all markets that distribute food. Even though processed foods may be easier and faster to make, they are nowhere near as healthy for consumers compared to natural foods. Natural foods are healthier, wholesome, and beneficial to the human body and planet then processed foods. Natural foods are described as whole foods that are grown in gardens, and are unprocessed and unrefined. The downside of natural foods is that they have a shorter shelf life then processed foods. The problematic aspect of processed food is all the added hormones, preservatives, and antibiotics that are injected into the food. Organic foods have none of these additives, and the pure characteristic of organic food is a valuable thing. With the world’s population continuing to increase, the demand for food is higher than ever. This increase in food demand also calls for more efficient ways of growing and providing the food. Two methods that are very controversial are the organic and conventional method. While many people support the organic method because of its known benefits, others feel that it is an over inflated industry that cheats consumers out of their money. But recently many studies have disproved those critics. These studies prove that Organic food is a better choice than conventional because it is better for the environment, avoids the use of chemicals, and is generally more beneficial.
Another disease, which is linked to the unhealthy nonorganic diets, is high cholesterol. There are two types of cholesterol, one good and one bad, however, when the bad cholesterol is high, it can lead to various heart diseases. One of the most effective ways to prevent high cholesterol is to eat a low fat, low salt diet and also a lot of fruits and vegetables. However, due to nonorganic foods as explained before being 25% less nutritious, the amount that needs to be eaten to help prevent it, need to be increased which leads to an unhealthy diet. With an organic food diet, less food can give more benefits leading to a healthier life avoiding high cholesterol. Doing so the cost of having to actually buy less food for more nutritious value and the cost of avoiding healthcare costs included with high cholesterol, again an organic food diet outweighs the cost of a nonorganic food diet.

In conclusion, the term “natural” implies a specific ideology and belief behind the word, because essentially it refers to something’s origin. When we think of an origin, we get into religious beliefs, scientific beliefs, cultural beliefs, etc. Overall, the troubling issue behind the use of “natural” in relation to food is that there is no specified definition by the FDA, and that the origin of faith in healthy natural food has a concrete definition. Possibly, maybe the problem of using the term “natural” to begin with is its many implications, and flawless connection to the ideas of nature, the past, and the world we might only remember as a memory.
Today, people in the first world are blessed with the ability to make a choice between GMO foods, which are foods that are genetically modified, and organic foods, which are foods that are not modified and are grown through natural means. These different types of foods are born through different farming methods and each has its own pros and cons. Genetically modified foods are superior to organic foods for a multitude of reasons such as their higher crop yield and their lower cost, and it is obvious that genetic modification of crops is the future. However, it is worth examining why exactly this is and what pros and cons the two different forms of food have in order to determine which type of food a person should eat. Many people choose, for example, to eat entirely organic foods in order to avoid the health risks associated with genetically modified foods and to have a more natural eating experience.
