McDonald's produces very little for society other than a quick meal but for me it has, honestly, assisted me greatly with discovering who I am as a person, Back in October of 2016, I was just going into my interview at McDonald's. I was terrified beyond belief, not because I was afraid I might not get a job but if I looked professional enough or that my interviewer would think I was weird. Little to say, I have Anxiety. I managed to finish my interview and a few days later I got the call saying that I had gotten the job. I was a bit excited to finally have a source of income and a reason to actually leave the house but, again, I was quite nervous about what the current employees would think of me or that I wouldn't do a good enough job. At the end of the first video, I realized that most of the jobs and areas at McDonalds are quite simple and only involve putting food down, hitting a button, and picking the food up when the button beeps. This is when I realized that I shouldn't underestimate myself as much as I usually do. This one video showing me how to cook French fries helped me some self confidence that had been absent for a good majority of my life. The giddy feeling I got after realizing that I WAS able to easily excel at this job is still present to this day. After watching the videos I basically was given a tour of the store by a crew trainer that was one of the nicest people I had met and later became one of my best friends. My first week working for McDonalds exposed me to some wonderful people who had always been positive whether or not they themselves have had a bad day. Gosh! I’m so hungry do you know what sounds good Mcdonalds. I go there at least once a week. The lines are usually always rapid all the way around the build but it's worth the wait. The first Mcdonalds ever built was at Des Plaines, Illinois since 1940. I love their Mcchicken and their chicken nuggets. Today, Mcdonald’s advertises is everywhere on billboards, on tv in music ads, and etc.

After four years of trying to run a movie theater, the brothers decided to start a drive-in restaurant. By 1940’s the brothers started earning $50,000 a year. According to Royle (1999) McDonald’s is a very large multinational enterprise (MNE) and the largest food service operation in the world. Currently the company has 1.5 million workers with 23,500 stores in over 110 countries with the United Kingdom and Germany amongst the corporation’s six biggest markets, and over 12,000 restaurants in the United States. In 1974 the United Kingdom corporation was established and in 1971 the Germany corporation was established, currently the combined corporation has over 900 restaurants and close to 50,000 employees in each of these countries (Royle, 1999).
To conclude, McDonald’s definitely did a great job in maintaining its sustainability in the economic perspective. However, the performance of company in social and environmental perspective is not satisfactory. Some may suggest that most criticisms are oddly jealous from its competitors. Yet, it is important for an international company do consider its surrounding while earning money from it. Have you ever wondered how the business empire of McDonalds was started? With over ninety nine billion served, it was started in 1940 in San Bernardino, California. It was started off as just a Bar-B-Q that served just twenty items. Its first mascot was named “Speedee” They eventually realized that by setting up their kitchen like an assembly line that they could be much more productive and get their food done faster, with every employee doing a specified job; the restaurants production rate became much higher. A milkshake machine vendor came into their small restaurant one day, his name was Ray Kroc. He saw how much potential the restaurant has, so he bought it out and opened one of the first franchises. Within the first year of Ray Kroc buying it, there were one hundred and two locations all around the world. McDonalds currently is one of the largest fast food restaurants in the world and currently has served over sixty four million customers through one of their thirty two thousand sites. It has almost become a way of life for America. Though, McDonalds started off as a small business between two brothers, it grew into one of the largest restaurant franchises in the world and greatly affects our society and how we eat our food.
The outside of the McDonalds has the old awning which has the traditional colors of red, yellow and white. The awning of this restaurant does not extend out into the street and the restaurant has big clear window outside. Inside the restaurant is different. This McDonalds also has the upgraded colors and infrastructure. The McDonalds is not the biggest, but not the smallest and looks very up to par. The floor consists of a dark brown type of tile with a black lining in between the tiles. The restaurant also has a mixture of tables and booths. The tables are located towards the windows. The tables have a circle shape and have a light beige color. The tables are supported with a black beam underneath. What was different from this McDonalds from the rest is that these tables had leather chairs that you can sit on. From the way they look I think they were attached to the floor. On one side the leather chair is black while on the other side of the beige table the chair is red.
In today’s market, McDonalds faces numerous challenges such as fierce competition, a more health conscious customer, and the continual need for improved customer satisfaction and menu. McDonalds needs to go through some changes in order to remain ahead in the fast-food industry.
McDonalds provide high quality products, such as burgers, fries, drinks, muffins, etc, which are safe and reliable that it does what it is supposed to do, but not only does the quality of the products matter, the good value for money affects the business. E.g. buy one extra value meal and get one free with a food voucher that represents the offer only. They ensure that a high standard of the product is carried out at all times and they try to compete very competitively with other fast food businesses with their good value for money. Also a customer would know if the product is good value for money by checking in another food outlet like KFC for their services and products.
